What?

Chadworkz 03.19.2012 10:22 AM

As soon as I get my Vertical Mill & Lathe (maybe even small CNC versions one day), I am going to practice making chassis (and other parts) out of plastic & Delrin until I get good enough to make some really nice chassis/parts (especially gears)...even replacement chassis & parts that are no longer being made or that you guys have designed or in mind! I am not going to step on Mike's toes, and I hope any designed you guys come up with are cleared with Mike before I make them as well!

I can't say when I'll be able to get the machines, but I hope it's much sooner than later...

Here's a cool chassis I've never seen: https://www.ssl-stormerhobbies.com/c...ns&pn=XTR10014

Never seen before

Now thats one have never seen before. Pretty nice looking design. Out of stock. So when was that made, and how many were produced? Funny in all of the info we read through this one has never come up in here or on UE before.

I found it Jerry, do I get a cookie? Ppppppplllleeaasseee!!!:intello:

Chadworkz 04.05.2012 10:53 AM

I finally found a local place that will TiNi coat titanium/steel, as well as AlTiNi coat aluminum (yep, aluminum can be TiNi Coated) parts on my Supermaxxes!

On my finished SM, what all do you guys think should be TiNi coated (GOLD)? I am thinking the 8mm Ti CVDs, Ti Pillow-Balls, VBS Hingepins, All of the Screws, the 51T Spur & Motor-Pinion, the Diff Rings & Pinions...what else do you guys think I should do?

I am also thinking about having every aluminum piece Chrome-Plated...how awesome would that look? Better than fully polished, and will never have to be repolished! I am also thinking about having all the aluminum parts Gold-Chrome Plated or Gold AlTiNi Coated...that would be friggin' sweet! It looks like real 24k gold-plating, but it's just a gold-chrome!

EDIT: Another possibility would be to have all of the aluminum Copper-Plated...that would look sick wit all of the gold TiNi coated parts!

Please leave feedback!

JERRY2KONE 04.05.2012 12:48 PM

Pricing??

So you found a place to get it done, but how much is going to cost? Can they do it by lot (considering such tiny parts), or are they going to hit you for each part ($5-$10)? I mean if you can do a pile of R/C parts for like $100 that would be just awsome. Crome plating aluminum sounds a little weak, but if your never going to actually drive the vehicle it will stay nice looking. Doing anything in copper would look great at first, but when it starts to tarnish and you have to polish it two or three times a year that will suck. Tini coating the screws will look cool.

Chadworkz 04.05.2012 06:02 PM

Yea, the place charges by the lot, and they charge substantially less if all the parts I have fit into a basket with parts in it already getting plated! They want me to bring the truck down so they can see what all will be getting plated, and what all sizes they are, and then they will give me a price. They say they are the least expensive in the South-East (I'm in Alabama), as well as having the best quality, and will beat or match any other price I find!

They actually etch the aluminum before plating, so that the chrome sticks to it extremely well, even if the aluminum is bent slightly after plating...so if I do decide to run the truck some, albeit very lightly, the plating won't crack, chip, bubble or come off if I accidentally hit something, heh!

The copper plating is basically the same, except they add a clear-type coating so that the copper stays looking brand-new for pretty much ever, and never needs polishing!

Man, I asked these guys every question I could think of, and they fully understand what kind of parts I have and what I want plated/coated, and I really liked their answers as well as their attitudes & personalities!

What do you guys think about having all or some of the aluminum parts Gold-Chrome Plated (looks like real 24k gold)? They said it's exactly the same as regular Chrome-Plating! I may wait until I get another Full-Blown Supermaxx built and have it Gold-Plated...it will look SICK sitting beside the Chrome-Plated SM!!!

Here are some parts on eBay, from jkrumbholz that have some kind of gold electro-plating:

Why the hell would you coat the ring and pinion? You've gone customization crazy man! You can't even see those:lol:

My opinion is that copper would look cheap. I think the gold would pretty much be the ultimate badass looking thing ever! I think an all gold supermaxx with that "rainbow" ti looking driveshafts and pillow balls etc. would look killer!! So the main parts gold, and hardware rainbow... man I can just picture it!!:intello:

You're a maxx freak Chad, and I love it!

JERRY2KONE 04.06.2012 01:00 AM

TINI coating

He wants to coat some of the wear parts with TINI which would provide a hard coating reducing friction, wear, and extend their life. Not all coatings are for looks.

Funny there is an Audi SUV running around town here that has been entirely plated in gold crome. It's weird looking, but also kind of cool. I like the gold plated R/C parts shown. I believe that a totally gold plated SuperMaxx would look great. Anything done differently that has not been seen before would be a change for the better I would think. Go for it. And like I stated if they can do an entire batch of R/C parts for under $100 that would be a good deal.

I understand that Jerry, but 1. They are super 8's which are already bulletproof, and 2. They are shelf queens and will see little to no use

Kinda pointless...

That's a Bombproof Products Racebomb chassis. They were initially made in lexan then were offered in aluminum and carbon fiber.

Bombproof also made the Torpedo chassis.

Hell yea I am Maxx-Crazy, freakishly crazy! I like to do everything, not just parts that can be seen, because I like things to be "complete"...know what I mean, I'm like OCD with my Maxxes!

I also think gold is the way to go, and am 99% sure that's where I am heading! I hope you will be "picturing" it very soon!

Exactly, man! Like I said above, I think I have settled on the gold chrome, so keep an eye out!

That actually used to be my chassis, actually, everything that seller has used to be mine...I traded it all in on other parts and have no idea how he got it all, heh!

Anyway, I just got a new JT Racing Chassis in the mail today...it is sweet! I am a little bit stuck on collecting chassis right now, so it might be a while before we see the gold chrome SM...

DR STATIC, did you get a chance to forward that message for me? If so, has he responded yet?

Thank you so much for helping me out, I truly appreciate it!

Still looking for the Blackbird chassis?

Chadworkz 12.29.2012 08:39 PM

Yessir!!!

Chadworkz 01.02.2013 05:13 PM

I am coming into some pretty major money in the next couple of days, so if you have a Predator, or any of the parts listed in my Signature, please PM Me (especially if you have a Predator & Braces)!

Chadworkz 01.02.2013 05:17 PM

Oops...

WheelMan 01.07.2013 01:59 PM

How rare is the Predetor chassis? Were there many of them made?

-Travis

emaxxthemonster 01.07.2013 04:52 PM

it depends. the original dace one nickleplated is the one to get. everyone wants that one. they are normal versions made by ue, but they are easy to find a not worth as much. i honestly think a all ue truck with the dace chassis looks amazing. look around on here, you'll see some. they are the darker ones. the nickle plating adds strength to the aluminum also.

chad ended up selling all my parts for almost nothing. i couldnt wait anymore. i might have a few more parts lying around.

WheelMan 01.07.2013 05:05 PM

Ah I see. So I assume the nickel ones are worth a pretty penny now a days?

-Travis

emaxxthemonster 01.07.2013 05:12 PM

anywhere from 120-180 depending on whats all there and condition

WheelMan 01.08.2013 09:33 AM

oh! well that's not near as bad as I thought. hmm

-Travis

Blazerss 01.08.2013 09:39 PM

I have had 4 of the nickel ones so far, but have ended up selling each one of them. A month ago I had the chassis and braces, arms, servo mounts, towers, bulks and braces, but sold it all. I just couldn't get into the look of the nickel myself. Those bulks were my favorites though.

WheelMan 01.08.2013 10:26 PM

Of course you got rid of them...and only just a month ago, haha go figure!

Always just a bit too late...story of my life!

-Travis

lincpimp 01.08.2013 10:39 PM

I have a pair of bombproof torpedo chassis, but they are staying on my 6x6 maxx build. I may have a spare set of chassis braces. Just make the chassis out of plexi/lexan like bombproof did...

WheelMan 01.08.2013 10:50 PM

I've actually already made a lexan upper deck a long time ago, for my old 3906 Maxx. It's seen countless miles worth of bashing. Definitely a bombproof chassis!

James!!!

James what a nice surprize. Hows it going man? Hows the family? Any new additions since th birth of your daughter? Its been a while. Are you looking at possibly fitting some R/C time into your schedule, or just slumming? I know its just not the same since all of the RTR brushless has come into play, but there is still much to be done, and tons of fun to be had in this hobby. Glad to see you visiting the forums again.

Hey Jerry,

I have been very busy with work and such. Just alot going on and the gun hobby has taken over much of my spare time.

My mother passed a few months ago so I have been trying to spend more time with my dad. We are doing ok, just taking it one day at a time.

[04] Thunder
[05] Predator
[06] Blackbird
[07] eMaxxler
[08] eMaxximum (eMaxxler's big brother)
[09] Racebomb (aluminum, carbon-fiber, lexan)
[10] Dominator Hybrid (DUH Ti Version)

[12] HCR Mutant-Maxx
[13] Hardcore Racing (their 1st aluminum version for the old E-Maxx)
[14] Xtreme Racing (maybe?)
[15] ???

What others can you guys think of? Also, do any of you have any of the chassis listed, or the ones you add to the list?

Thanks in advance!

:yipi::yipi: DUH Blackbird Chassis [TITANIUM]. I found one for Chadworkz, but I haven't heard from him. So it is up for grabs now... :yipi::yipi:

:intello::intello: This one is on eBay!!! JT Racing w/ UE VBS :intello::intello: And this seller is usually on here too...

And I might have found a lead for the Predator chassis TOO...

WheelMan 01.16.2013 09:22 AM

oh myy :oh: rare goodness! :yipi:

I have not heard back from him in a couple weeks now either.

:surprised: Predator Chassis on eBay right now [1/29/2013]... :surprised:

RC-Monster Mike 01.29.2013 10:11 PM

I actually have a new unopened JT chassis around here somewhere - I remember when it was the only "truggy" chassis out there for the Maxx trucks(unlimited MT). Got a JTRacing 2.5 T-Maxx chassis(stock style) on a truck, too(had some races on this one).
