Yep, looks like there should be a 4x4mm setscrew holding the pin...
|
Ok I found the set screws. I put them in first before the pin went into the shaft. I put them in correctly and it all seems to be tight.
Took it out for a test run in front of my house and drove it for 10-15 minutes before it cartwheeled down the street and landed on its wheels and drove back. Drove it a little more before noticing the front end is a little loose. It was a lot of fun driving it while it lasted. It's been over a year since I've driven a RC. Im about to take it apart to see what is broken. Thanks again for the help guys. |
Figured I would update this thread a little. I got the truggy back up and running. Luckily I just lost a screw and that's what was causing the loose suspension in the front.
Now I need to replace two of the metal collars that are on the bottom on the front arms that keep the front hubs in place. They keep on coming loose on me since I don't have the right parts now. I'll have to order those and go from there. From pic 11 I'm missing BB5. Nick |
So I'm looking for a replacement for this part. Wondering if anyone else has used a part like this on their 1/8th truggy or buggy builds?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tamiya-TRF-8...-/161313989250 Tamiya TAM9404944 Right now A-Main Hobbies shows 1pk still in stock. I'm going to try and order it but just wondering if there was another more readily available part out there. Edit: I did order this part from A-Main now it does not come up on their website. Thanks, Nick |
2 bucks, why don't you buy it on Ebay?
Or if you want to buy from a shop, losipartshouse, towerhobbies, rc-mart etc? The new amain site sucks imo, I loved the old style. |

Just a quick update. The kingpin bushings in the Hot Bodies D8T are the same size as the Tamiya truggy if anyone is looking for a replacement.
I will have this truggy back up and running by tomorrow. Nick |
I'm looking for some front control arms for this truggy. Either the factory longer ones or the shorter upgraded ones. If anyone see's any for sale please let me know. I haven't found any online lately for sale that are in stock.
Thanks, Nick |
If anyone is looking for these Tamiya is still making the longer stock arms that came on the scratch and dent truggy. The said that the shorter upgraded arms have been discontinued. I e-mailed them back and asked if they would be making those again and I'm still waiting for a reply.

Got this truggy back up and running this weekend. Wow I didn't remember how quick it was. It was fun to be back at it after a few years not playing with it. Next year we will have to take it with us on a few vacations. I was teaching my seven year old son to drive it too, it did ok but he has a heavy finger.

Just got my truggy working as well and is doing great! thanks for the conversion kit mike!

It is a great conversion kit. I am very pleased with mine. It's held up great over the years even thought it doesn't get used much these days.
