Anyone can use it. It's benefits help the basher and the racer.
o cool
It is weight and gear saving.. (and darn nice looking as well, if you ask me!)
The constant engagement also makes for smoother throttle control, as well as less stress on the whole drive train.
Can i buy yours Mike? lol...
Mine is not for sale!
Can i borrow it then :L:
Tough business, i can tell from miles away..

I promise I will post any news as I receive it. I have no new news at this moment. I know it is in line to get done, along with a few other things.

what will be included and how much? is it on your site?
It is around $60 and includes the front cover, coupler and instructions. I have the e-maxx internal gears and bearings for those wanting to build the tranny from scratch (I know there are a few folks with this in mind).
cool, looks awesome. I may just order one with my new 9918:mad: im in the process of selling my bike so i can afford my new 9918, when did you say you expect to have them? I am going to replace the input shaft because mine wobbles a little.
Hopefully next week.
I seen it on Mike's truck, BMF I must say!
Must have in my opinion. |
what if you don't cut the input shaft perfectly straight? I mean dremels are notorious for uneven cuts, and if the cut is slanted...what will happen?
I have built three of these so far. I cut the shaft with a hacksaw and remove the burr with a dremel. Unless you are Stevie Wonder, it is not hard to make it work(no offense to Stevie Wonder:)). If the end isn't perfectly straight, it doesn't matter as long as it doesn't rub on the inside of the tranny case. The cut part of the shaft is inside a bearing.
He can't be Stevie Wonder, Stevie is working here in Holland at our carwash...
LOL. Stevie gets around, huh!
Nah, He's in Vegas, well he was the other night with Nelly, Lenny Kravitz and Cindy Crawford.....Yeah Baby, Yeah!
Hmmm.. This is one way for my Maxx to lose some weight.
Might have to think about it.. tho I need the cover in purple..hehe.. |
1st Gear?
Hello,
This looks great, only one Question/problem. I've got a Brushless E running a 9L on 14 cells. I've tried it in both 1st and in 2nd. When I was in 2nd it was way too fast. I only race w/my Maxx and balistic speed doesn't (always) equal wins at the track. In any case I've got some nice, happy gearing in 1st, I make time no trouble and the truck is plenty fast. Why is there no model for 1st gear? and then if there is only going to be one in second, what gearing are you guys who race running to make time and not thermal? Thanks, |
Welcome to the forum!
drop a few teeth on the pinion. that's the solution! The reason it is done with the 2nd gear is simple; The goal was to loose weight, and when it's locked in 1st, you are not able to drop one halve of the transmission, or you need to make a special upper driveshaft, or modify the topshaft. |
Thanks for the reply.
When I tried 2nd I was running a 72 tooth spur (biggest) with a 14 tooth pinion (smallest I could find at that time) and it was still WAY too fast/hot. Are you guys running similar gearing? Thanks, |
try a 12 tooth pinion.
From where? I searched for pinions here and the smallest is (still) a 14...
Thanks, |
14/66 or 16/72 would both be good gearing suggestions(assuming stock diffs and stock sized tires). If this is too fast, adjust your radio to tame it a bit. Also, welcome to the forums!
Hey Mike...Thanks for the reply. What gearing were you running at the Barnstormers race (season opener) and did you have the new one speed in there? Our local track is quite a bit smaller than Barnstormers and it seems that 2nd was too much. I can back the EPA down a bit (or a lot) but I thought running in 1st may be a better way...given how good your truck ran at that race I wouldn't mind duplicating your setup.
