Anybody want to take bets on how long it lasts :005: my bet is 3 minutes and the smoke smell will never leave ;) :dft012:

I would just like to point out that while the motor rpm may be running at 60krpm most people when running hi reving systems gear to achieve a similar top speed as before if they want it to be usable.
what this means is that unless were gearing for insane speed runs we end up with the transmission running at the same rpm.

MetalMan 07.14.2006 06:49 PM

First 5700 system?

I noticed on side of the box a 6700 version.
Does that mean it will be four motors when complete?
Maybe more?

SpEEdyBL 07.14.2006 08:20 PM

Yes.

Serum 07.15.2006 03:31 AM

Looking sexy metal!

am i right? does the motor uses flexible silicone wire?!

Dafni 07.15.2006 04:10 AM

Yes, the motor uses real 12g wires! How sweet is that?

Serum 07.15.2006 04:33 AM

that's sexy..!

No more worries about bending those copper wires too much..

MetalMan 07.15.2006 09:57 AM

It is very nice for sure! I almost ran into a problem with the wires on the motor in my Dark Impact because of the chassis design, but I was able to push the motor in, and the flexible wires let me do it!

hey metalman, do you know where to get spares for the dark impact? thanks!

MetalMan 07.15.2006 10:21 AM

Spare parts? Tamiya USA:
http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/rcp...s&kit_id=58370
http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/rcp...chassis_id=A77
I've done two orders through Tamiya USA. They are located within an hour driving distance of me, so it's pretty conveniant.
There's also Ebay, which is most likely where I'll be ordering my next parts from:
http://toys.search.ebay.com/df-03-df...tQ29QQsbrsrtZl
Make sure to also look in the Ebay stores, there's some really good stuff there, including A LOT of hopups.

I just got Email confirmation that mine is in the mail:018: :004: :020: , should be here mon. or tues. :dft003:

MetalMan 07.15.2006 11:19 PM

It's lots of fun! My (now) bald tires can't keep traction, even though it's 4wd!

coolhandcountry 07.16.2006 06:13 AM

That is good but bad. I like the sounds of it having power.

jameschatz 07.16.2006 10:28 AM

Also depends on what surface hes running it on, if its concrete then no wonder they are bald

MetalMan 07.16.2006 10:59 AM

Yeah, concrete and asphault. But even on those surfaces I can't get ANY traction. Oh well :).

crazyjr 07.16.2006 07:50 PM

My track will not allow it to run because they want a limit on it for the 5800 systems, oh well looks like it might go in my pro3 HPI for a while

crazyjr 07.17.2006 08:01 PM

It came in today, i'm going to spend today reading about it, then its on tomorrow. When i downloaded the software it said it had an update, should i update, or will it mess up the programming?

MetalMan 07.17.2006 10:16 PM

It's best to update it. The update only affects the software on the computer, the software on the Mamba Max is independent of the computer except when new settings are downloaded to it.

crazyjr 07.17.2006 11:55 PM

Thank you Metalman, will update and will report on how the mamba runs. This is my first experience with an unsensored system, so expect a big reaction

MetalMan 07.18.2006 10:52 AM

Something you might want to play around with is low-speed driving. The Mamba Max will actually try to not cog by lowering the frequency when the motor spins slow enough. The only way I can get it to cog is by physicaly holding the tires with low throttle.

Dafni 07.18.2006 11:10 AM

Anybody else got a free t-shirt? :)

Serum 07.18.2006 11:15 AM

I told them about your favorite hobby..

Now you don't need to dance naked on the table anymore. I asked them to sent an XXXXXL..

Thats the size i need :018:

Just run it for the first time and i'm impressed, it is smoother than an ss5800 with more power. I'm going to the track today to run it and maybe play with the computer settings.

I may do a review when i get more familar with it and learn how to tune for more performance

All in all i am impressed with the system, its easy to start, easy to program and you get so much for the money, that unless you want more voltage its not necessary to get any other esc or motor.

BTW Metalman i got it to cog when running in reverse and went foreward by accident only cogged a split second then run like it never cogged.

MetalMan 07.18.2006 04:03 PM

Yeah, I got it to cog the same way. I just did a run with reverse enabled. But when racing, this isn't an issue since reverse is disabled anyways.

crazyjr 07.18.2006 08:16 PM

I went to the track today to test and i still am impressed, its like having a hemi in a dart with the throttle control of a vette.

My temps at the track, nonstop racing conditions:
esc 164*
motor 167*
battery 164*

Am i running too hot or just right, outside temp is upper 90's, gearing is 20/87with standard ST 2.2" tires

SpEEdyBL 07.19.2006 01:59 PM

The motor and esc are ok. The batteries are too hot.

BrianG 07.19.2006 02:56 PM

Is Mike going to add the new CC stuff to the site? I realize there is a shortage right now (according to CC). If he will carry it at some point, I'll wait to buy it (as long as it's not too long :)), but if if not, I'll get it from somewhere else...

RC-Monster.com will indeed carry the Mamba Max line of products from Castle Creations. It's just a matter of receiving the products before listing them on the site.
I do not have a timeframe for this, but Mike may.

the track owner here says so long as they don't go 70* above ambient i'll be fine(near 100 that day) but i'm going to go to a lower gear and see if it helps
