Boy, that's a lot more work than waiting for CC to reply to my e-mail :027:

Seriously though, I'm not sure I'm comfortable enough with my abilities there. You guys are way ahead of me in this area.

The Mamba Max motors aren't meant to be rebuildable. There's epoxy holding the endbells on, and the screws have some strong threadlock on them as well (making it difficult to get the screws out). When I opened up my 4600, I noticed that the rotor looked like a standard non-segmented one, since it looked similar to the rotor from my Feigao 12s.

Yeah, that makes sence Metal. Also one block of magnet?

i heard people shredding the screws, so taking them apart might be a pita

The magnet is only one piece, as confirmed by Radio Control Car Action's description.
I have almost stripped the screw heads on my 5700 motor trying to get the screws out. At that point I stopped trying to get the 5700 apart.

Thanks Metal. it would surprise me if it was a segmented one for that money.

I've found with my CC 5700 and esc that it does better with a little lower voltage. I'm running it in an E-Maxx with giant Losi Claw tires and it is really fast but it gets really hot. The timing is on low. With 7.2V it will run cool all day pushing the heavy Emaxx through grass or whatever. When I jumpo 14.4V it starts getting hot and shutting down. I have tried several different gearing combos but the mamba doesn't like 14.4 and the heavy Emaxx combined.

When I was running it in my B4 with a 3S it never even got warm. I was getting 60+ mph out of the B4 (if I could keep it from flipping over).

I lowered my gearing even more today on the Emaxx and it ran great on 14.4V nicad. Unreal power from a motor designed for a small buggy or truck.

Running such large tires through the built-in BEC with 12 cells will put quite a strain on the built-in BEC. This causes the BEC to get HOT, and once it gets hot enough, it will cause the Mamba Max to shut down. You can help this problem by running either a receiver pack or a UBEC.
