Yuck...I prefer the GTS-R's....But...I would take a new '06 Z06 over all...That and a STS twin turbo would be well over 675HP at the rear wheels...Probably more like 700....

go4gold 10.01.2006 10:47 PM

I'm with Brain(BrianG). Every Tom,Dick and Joe drives a vet It's a poor mans sport car.

squeeforever 10.01.2006 11:09 PM

True, but the Z06 base price is about the same as a Viper's....I think its a matter of opinion, but the Corvette has been around for 54 years (since '53) and has alot more potential. Granted, the Viper can be pushed well above 1000HP, but that cost a $h!tload and isn't even practicle when the car is producing that much power. The Z06 can produce over 1000HP EASY with the LS2's and will still be streetable....Only problem is traction :005:.

BrianG 10.02.2006 12:12 AM

I am not trying to perpetuate the debate here, but the reason why I like the Viper is not simply for power, it's just plain sexy. Aggressive stance, sleek, unique, and powerful. Even the shape of it viewed from above is reminiscent of a woman's hourglass figure. The vette, albeit around for a much longer time, is, well... a wedge with a big motor. It looks nice too, but in a more plain way. Of course I'm talking about the newer ones.

Anyway, now that I said my piece (yet again), I say we redirect this thread back to Neu vs Feigao XL.

glassdoctor 10.02.2006 02:18 AM

Is there really anything more to say on the Neu vs Feigao? :007: LOL

I like the Viper too, it's one of the baddest looking cars ever made imo.

The 2006 Z06 is bad too... and looks much better, leaner and meaner than previous models. An average base model vette is nothing special, I agree, but the Z06 is a different animal. It really is a world class sports car that most normal joes can buy if they want to.

What is really sick is the Lingenfelter (no idea how it's spelled :019: ) corvette that has +1000HP at the rear wheels.

Check out this link to some fast American "production" cars... it has Motor Trend video clips of their tests. Stock Z06 vs. tuners. The modded Vette ran a 211mph mile and the Viper did 217mph. The bottom video is showing the instrument panel while accelerating in a stock Z06. 100mph comes up really quick... wow. :027:

glassdoctor 10.02.2006 02:27 AM

Ok, back on topic.... :010:

I have nothing against running a $90 motor for light bashing and messing around. I have a 9L I plan to run in my old emaxx for a play truck to entertain the kids etc.

It's the hardcore bashing and racing that demands a better more efficient motor. imo....

btw, the exotics like Lambos and Ferraris and Bugattis (sp?) don't appeal to me because they are untouchable.... regular guys will never have one. And some others like Lotus etc that are stripped down carbon fiber race cars more than a real road car.

Edit: oh man I drifted off topic again.... :007:

Rtsbasic 10.02.2006 05:47 AM

I actually like the Z06..I'd quite happily drive one of them. Although my insurance company might balk at the thought :007: They're pretty rare over here, don't know if they even sell them. The Viper is a bit meh though, for a start I don't think I'd even fit into the damn thing! :)

maXXler 10.02.2006 08:02 AM

Boys and fast cars a never ending thread...

But first to the topic of this thread:
I ran a feigao in my maxx and for the future in my 1:8 buggy. They are really good motors for their price but if you have the bugdet i would go for the NEU. I don't test one yet (not yet:010: ) but they should accelerate like the Plettenberg motors and these motors rock.

And now to the big "toys":

I already drove an AUDI RS4 it's hard to explain the feelings but my heart-beat was up to 200...

My dream car for which i never will have enough money to buy one is the porsche 911 turbo. It's a masterpiece of german engineering and i my eyes packed up in a very sexy body.

I'm not so keen about the BMW's because we have strong winters here with a lot of snow and it's always funny to see when the BMW drivers stick in the snow and i outrun them with my audi quattro:005:

glassdoctor 10.02.2006 10:48 AM

The subaru and mitsubishi are the poor man's porshe/audi ...(all wheel drives) maybe that's a better comparison. LOL

Serum 10.02.2006 11:48 AM

Maxxler, how old are you?

maXXler 10.02.2006 12:32 PM

18:o

I got my driving licence october last year...

the audi isn't complete mine originally it's the car from my mum but i use it too when i need it.
Having a car myself would "a bit" expensive for me:025:

Procharged5.0 10.02.2006 12:49 PM

Go for a Shelby Mustang or a Z06 Vette. Both offer outstanding "bang-for-the-buck", uniques looks, outrageous power, and great handling. The Mustang also offers nearly unlimited upgrade potential and power can be increased to over 600hp with minor uprades (pulley, flash tune, CAI, etc.)

Rtsbasic 10.02.2006 01:17 PM

Audi's..I love Audi cars. Used to have an '83 Audi 90 with a 5 cyl in, good fun to drive. Very easy to squeeze some extra power out the engine, even if it wasn't a blindingly fast car in the first place it was good fun. Had some great fun in a beat up Quattro from around the same age as well, it just wouldn't die no matter what you did to it.

Scooby's (Subaru's) are pretty popular down where I live, no doubt due to the 4WD. Some of them engines sound pretty nice too.

squeeforever 10.02.2006 08:48 PM

Rtsbasic, Z06's should be pretty common over there. I believe around half of them are goin to Europe...

Rtsbasic 10.02.2006 09:32 PM

Hmm, not in my small part of the world they're not. I saw a couple last time I passed through London, but none down south. Everyone down here seems to drive a scooby, land rover or ford focus.

i'm very glad someone said something about a mustang, my dad has a '99 GT pushing about 300hp at the rear wheels. i would love to have a '89-'93 fox body mustang GT in black..............:004:

...... any way, i agree that the xl's are very good motors for the price, but personaly i would like a neu my self.

correct me if if i'm wrong, but feigao has C,B,A class xl's right? is the 540xl a B class motor? and how would the A class xl compare to a neu? :032:

Rtsbasic 10.03.2006 07:12 AM

Erm, C/B/A's? Car/boat/plane?

I would presume the 540C-*XL motors are a B or C.

Rcaddict 10.03.2006 07:48 AM

I'm glad this thread came up because I was on the fence about which motor to get. Sounds like the Neu is the way to go.
By the way, how in the world do you pronounce Feigao?

Rtsbasic 10.03.2006 07:50 AM

When I say Feigao it come out more like fer-igo.

glassdoctor 10.03.2006 10:40 AM

fe-gouw' (like "ouw" that hurt) how the heck do you spell ouch without the "ch"? hee hee

MetalMan 10.03.2006 04:59 PM

glassdoc, are you sure? I'm not saying my way is right, but I've always said Fee Ay Go.

Procharged5.0 10.03.2006 05:09 PM

I heard others use the Fee-AY-GO pronounciation. Not sure if it's right.

I may buy another brand just so I don't have to pronounce it! JK!

Finnster 10.03.2006 05:28 PM

Asking one of my Chinese collegues at work, he pronounced it "Fey - Gaow" or as close as my gringo ears can translate it. I think GD has it right.

He aslo said Fei means "flying" and Gao means "high", so the Name would translate "flying high" which makes sense for a brushless motor/esc company.

glassdoctor 10.03.2006 11:16 PM

Shawn Palmer and Mike Cronin both said it like that... fa-gouw maybe that spelling says it better.

BrianG 10.04.2006 09:32 AM

Someone who can say it correctly should post an MP3 of them saying it. :)

Rcaddict 10.04.2006 10:20 AM

That's why I finally decided to get the Neu. At least I can pronounce that.

Except now when I tell someone I am getting a Neu motor, they think I'm saying "New" and ask, "What brand is it? :D

You just can't win can you? :005:

Serum 10.04.2006 11:28 AM

LOL!

well, i'd like to hear you folks say 'plettenberg' or 'schulze' the right way..

That guy who makes the neu motors is a member on rcgroups.. sneu is his name.. (referring to his own name, S Neu. ) 'sneu' means 'pathetic' in Dutch..

Looks like we need MP3 clips of lots of stuff then (although I'd stick to products Mike carries). Like 'Lehner' for instance...

If anyone watches Futurama, 'sneu-sneu' means something in English too! :005:

Serum 10.04.2006 11:50 AM

This screams for elaboration for the foreigner..

The mind is willing, but the flesh is spongy and bruised. (Or something along those lines) lol!

Futurama is a cartoon (set in the future - hence the name) from the makers of the Simpsons. The crew goes out somewhere and crashes into a planet (driving a bistro no less IIRC) inhabited by a race of pre-literate, club-weilding, fur-wearing, large, volumptuous, amazon females. The males were eradicated at some point, so they capture shipwrecked males of any species and the females form a long line to repeatedly use them for procreation, called snu-snu - whether willing or not. This might not sound so bad if the females weren't like 15 feet (4.6 meters) tall. Of course, most of the humorous aspect of the show is lost in translation, but you get the basic idea now.

Cart: I see you understand!

Serum 10.04.2006 12:42 PM

That makes sense now. Thanks Brian.

Those simpson makers have got a nice twist of humor..

Rtsbasic 10.04.2006 02:03 PM

Who the heck comes up with all these names anyway..Feigao, Neu, Lehner, Schuzle. No wonder they haven't hit mainstream with names like Schuzle, and models like 12020, or Future-45HE, 88FO etc :D Least theres no confusion over how to say Mamba :)

BrianG 10.04.2006 02:09 PM

As far as the brands go; I'd imagine most are the designer's/maker's name. The '12020' is simple enough; 120A, 20 cells. The rest sound like pure whim. :)

Rtsbasic 10.04.2006 02:11 PM

So what your saying is, never let the engineers do marketing..you end up with names like these :D

glassdoctor 10.04.2006 10:17 PM

If you are from Chicago you probably say "mam-bah" ... mam like "yes, mam"

hee hee

We do have good ol MGM... can't screw up that one. :D

And just to make sure MGM won't be screwed up, it's pronounced "EM-GEE-EM". :027:

Serum 10.05.2006 01:58 AM

But i wonder how it sounds in it's native language..

HEY! :mad:1

The blue collar south siders probably do say mam-bah (they also pronounce sausage as "sass-age" as in "gimme da sassage sammich" ) but the rest of us white-collar educated types actually pronounce things correctly!
