jnev 02.08.2007 11:20 AM

That thing is looking amazinbg. Very nice job!!

coolhandcountry 02.08.2007 03:30 PM

Could you maybe round the part that the shock sets in?
That would help if you with articulation some. If you worried about it.

yes, that is my core criteria for the stuff i wanna do...well, at least i try.....

my basic rule that i try to stick to is, not to use any L stock at all......although sometimes i find that its the easiest way out of a fix.....just have to keep telling myself....not to be lazy..haha..

wow! lathe out a "ball" into the standoff???..now that would require REAL talent!!! haha i might try it someday i guess....precision is something i'm not to used to. :dft001: :dft001:

GorillaMaxx360 02.08.2007 10:49 PM

if you where looking for any shock ideas you could use the revo shock setup with rockers and pushrods. That may work better because there might be less strain on the shock from left to right and forward and back. Just a thought, but it really looks good. could even use revo shocks if you got long enough push rods)

overtki11 02.08.2007 11:04 PM

thanks for the input dude! appreciate it!

i did think of that, but i figure..the way its set up now,..it shood do what i need it too ....and that is have the shocks as stiff as possible so together with some sway bars, it shood keep the txt-1 torque roll to a minimum...

GorillaMaxx360 02.08.2007 11:08 PM

cool if it works for you that is good the thing i was concerned about is the side to side movement might bend the shafts but the sway bars got that covered cool man nice work.

BlackedOutREVO 02.08.2007 11:48 PM

WOW!!!!!

every thing u do is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo NICE!!!!! this is SICK! keep up the good work man

coolhandcountry 02.09.2007 03:07 PM

By moving my shocks to the axle and chassis instead of the cantilevers.
It helped the torque roll a great deal.

overtki11 02.11.2007 08:41 PM

good to hear confirmation on that....
honestly, i got rid of the cantis coz i didn't have enuf space for them with that big block sitting there!:005: :032:

finally got down to some serious milling last night....
now i gots alu chips everyfreakingwhere!!!...much to the dismay of my wife!!

still have to do some "finishing" on the other side though....eyes got blurry by the time i got this far...best i stopped for the night.

also finally got to test out the clamps i made too...

its good to know that they work like they're 'pose ta..

jollyjumper 02.12.2007 03:37 AM

sweet work!
i hope i can do that someday.

coolhandcountry 02.12.2007 11:17 AM

I going to have to get me one of them machines. It does much nicer than a dremel. :)

overtki11 02.13.2007 09:03 PM

ev·o·lu·t-x-tion

haha...yes, before i got this machine, my dremel was THE #1 tool in my tool box.....

here's the completed? mount....

after all that milling work...i end up covering all the "details":035: :035:
funny thing that ended up a "bonus" was the fact that when i fabbed the mount to hold the fuel tank, rx batt and rx box onto one piece...it didn't occur to me that i had build it "modular"...just 4 screws and the entire assembly drops out of the chassis!!

hmm....i guess all thats left to do is the body mounts, run the fuel tubing, get someone to help with the carb settings, trim the TX/RX......

nice man

question though- how does that milling machine work it is hooked up to a computer what kind of software does it use, and how expensive it the machine

coolhandcountry 02.13.2007 09:15 PM

That looked worked out real well for you. It looks good to. I like to see a video on this thing.

jnev 02.13.2007 09:22 PM

sorry bro...no CNC computer programming here, everything is milled by hand mill.....and measured by "eyeball"....

wouldn't know how to use a CNC program even if i had one....hahaha.

squeeforever 02.13.2007 10:17 PM

What good would that do on a nitro?

jhautz 02.13.2007 11:52 PM

That is even more impressive that you didn't cnc.
I take you have had a little bit of practice on that.

Procharged5.0 02.14.2007 01:26 PM

Beautiful work. Looks amazing!

erm...let's see...the first time i used a mill was for draggularII's chassis plate and cage.....thats bout it..this be my 2nd time doing a major milling job...

honestly, milling is easy to get used to ....but you do need to plan a little which part of the piece you want milled first....you gotta get the sequence right..if not you might get stuck....

hope that makes some sense??....

that's most likely the difficult part, i understand that quite well.

coolhandcountry 02.14.2007 10:16 PM

I think I got you. If you can't hold the item to mill you are done.

overtki11 02.15.2007 12:10 AM

haha yes in milling..."holding down" the job is 90% of the job....:005:

BlackedOutREVO 02.15.2007 12:29 AM

yeh lol might be kinda sloppy if u couldnt hold it:D

where could u buy one????

you can buy a milling vise and hold down clamps...

but for the stuff i mill, i find the store bought "hold downs" way too big.... so i made my own base and hold down clamps...

these are very useful when milling plate work...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...p/P1150169.jpg

each clamp has its own height adjustment thingee.....no need for aditional riser blocks.....
