mike should make motor mounts for the buggy and the xray truggy "hint hint"

jollyjumper 04.15.2007 03:16 PM

and a spur.:027:

Dafni 04.21.2007 06:58 AM

The bearings on the XRay center diffs are app 2mm closer to each other than the ones on a HB Diff. Outer diameter of the bearings is the same, 16mm.

jollyjumper 04.21.2007 08:31 AM

to bad, any other solutions?:032:

jollyjumper 04.25.2007 08:32 AM

hey dafni, arent the diff mounts off-set?
like the mugen, were you can drop in the entire hotbodies mounts/centerdiff.

jollyjumper 05.17.2007 07:57 AM

:004: i ordered the xt8!!!:004:

end of the month it should be out, then a week or so for the payment to go trough and delivery.

tom255 05.17.2007 09:57 AM

jollyjumper 05.17.2007 12:49 PM

jollyjumper 05.17.2007 02:11 PM

jollyjumper 05.17.2007 03:14 PM

i saw a vid of him drive it just minutes ago.
it sure looks great out there.
i hope the mmm or r1mt is out soon, so i can use that.
otherwise i'll have to get a quark and neu for the truggy's.

It's not about who gets it first, it's about who does the nicest conversion ;)

jollyjumper 05.17.2007 03:18 PM

haha, he will stay with the nasty nitro.
not me.
i hope i can do it myself mostly.
the design that is.
the machining i wont do myself tough.

Daf that track is built in a clay pit, so they have a unlimited supply of clay. The track also has elevation changes.

AAngel 05.17.2007 03:53 PM

If I buy another truck right now, I'm going to wake up one morning with body parts missing; although it may very well be worth it.

Just make sure you have a safe place to stay before you buy it LOL:005: .

jollyjumper 05.18.2007 02:26 AM

would any of you guys see the point of making a new chassis aswell as making the motor mount? :002:
i wouldnt know actually but it would sure be sweet.:004:

tino_ale 06.01.2007 04:53 AM

Anyone has received his XT8?? :004:

Dafni 06.01.2007 05:31 AM

Hey, they put the "shipping now" note up on their site the day before yesterday. The cargo still has to travel to the importers, then to the suppliers, and then to the customers.... when they released the XB8EC, it was 5 weeks after the "shipping now" announcement until the first were sold.

The XRay factory and headquarter is in Slovak Republic... so expect new stuff from them to hit europe first :) Maybe just a few days, but still :) :)

DAF

tom255 06.01.2007 06:08 AM

My local dealer is told, that question of days!
probaly on start of next week i will get mine.
I hope it :)

Dafni 06.01.2007 06:37 AM

Yeah, fingers are crossed, all over the globe :)

jollyjumper 06.01.2007 10:48 AM

no news from my dealer or distributor.
maybe monday i'll hear something.

tino_ale 06.04.2007 09:23 AM

Guys,

For someone who wants to go offroad, and who wants to go xray, would you recomment the buggy or the truggy?

I know this is kindda comparing apples and oranges, but I've never tried and basically don't know what kind of behaviour/performances differences I should expect between the two.

I would not like to see that the truggy is on it's roof most of the time, like I sometime see in monster truck videos. Some models have such a high center of gravity that they seem to be upside down all the time, and I don't like that.

Can you give comments about buggy/truggy choice? That would be for pleasure, maybe on track, but not competition. Thanks!

tom255 06.04.2007 09:35 AM

I am afraid you seen videos with monster trucks not truggy
Main differense between MT and Truggy that truggy have center diff when MT have full 50/50 4WD. Center diff make truck more stable and prevent wheelies.
I am highly recommend to you go to the track and look how real truggys perform and what you like more. Its different classes realy hard make parallels between them only chassis build is similar.
Personaly I like truggy more than buggy. Its handle similar but more stable, on bumpy track its more stable. Bigger wheels looks cooler and body is cool its looks like true car

BrianG 06.04.2007 09:43 AM

Well, truggies are basically "suped-up" buggies as far as how they're built. Truggies have larger tires, usually a little more ground clearance, are geared a bit lower (diffs and maybe spur), a little wider wheelbase, a little heavier, and obviously use a truck body.

Depending on the MT, they do have a higher COG most of the time. MTs like the Revo are a bit better as they are designed more for the track in mind. Trucks like the Savage are meant to sit higher for even more ground clearance. Obviously, the more ground clearance you have, the higher the COG.

That said, you'll probably be more stable when bashing (or track pleasure-racing) a Truggy. Although, the best solution to remain off the roof is to drive better! :) Believe me, I know what you mean though; I thought about using tires big enough so that I can still drive if it flips over!

jollyjumper 06.04.2007 01:18 PM

any one know if there are still problems with xray spider gears?

there was a long time problem with them end of 2006/beginning 2007.

they werent hardened corectly and flew aparts in few runs.:002:

As far as I know, this problem was associated with a certain batch of gears that were put in some TQ kits. Apparently the EC kits are all good, so I assume this is a problem of the past.

BTW, we have one of the last TQs here that was sold by AMain, and the diffs seem to be good.

tom255 06.04.2007 02:03 PM

I asked same thing from my local dealer and they told that for now they replaced allmost all faulty gears by free who came with that problem to our dealer. And i asked one guy who is driving XRay and who mentioned problems with gears before, for now he dont have any problems, so far so good.
I think no reason to worry, new XT8 come with properly hardened gears :D

jollyjumper 06.04.2007 02:42 PM

thanks dafni and tom255 :D:D:D

tino_ale 06.05.2007 03:33 AM

thanks for the replies. I'll spend some time looking for truggy videos on the internet.

So in terms of pure performances, the buggy will be first choice, but in terms of off-road capability and pleasure to drive (stability, nice jumps...) the Truggy might be better right?

In fact I'm pretty new to this truggy thing. A while ago I eliminated monster trucks because I thought they were too unstable and always on the roof. Weelies all the time and finally boring to drive. When I first saw these truggies, I didn't catch the difference and didn't get interrested into them... But now I realize they are completely different from monster trucks and seem to be great machines :) !

Not necessarily. As for buggy over truggy in terms of performance, I heard many reports of racers who got the same (and sometimes faster) lap-times with their truggies as with their buggies.
And as for buggy over truggy in terms of jumping and fun, I have to say buggies are nice too. Most of them are very very tough, hard to kill, and fly nice and clean. Same goes for the truggies, of course, I just wanted to say that the buggies are good too.

Daf

tino_ale 06.05.2007 04:08 AM

Hum... you make me doubt!

Ok I understand what you say. But then again, for someone who has difficulties to decide between the two, what would be your advise? What do you think is the main difference between the two in terms of driving pleasure/fun experience? cost/maintanance/toughness? There must be some determining difference somehow
