i've got a maximum with fan in my g2r revo (shorter than the big maxximum and higher kv) on 4s and it runs really NICE... i can't imagine needing anything more, wheelies at almost any speed... i've run it with a mamba max and a quarq with no issues... as far as support www.icare-rc.com is my contact and they in north america so no issues there... i don't know why they're not more popular here either... you've got 3 to choose from... they are pretty popular in europe
|
Interesting... that makes at least two guys with the Mxximum/MM combo that don't have any issues. This motor is a 4 pole correct?
I wonder why the Neu has come cogging but not the Pletty... |
ya 4 pole... the plettys have much stroger magnetic resistance though.. you can't turn the shaft with your fingers... the key is that once it does get going that same magnetic force helps it keep going... if i put a pinion on my pletty and spin the rotor it keeps spinning for longer than my other motors... same with their 1/10 scale motors which have the smoothest start of any brushless i've ever had
|
Interesteing.............
I wonder if/how that's related? |
Thats true, you cant spin the shaft without a pinion, but if you put a pinion on there and give it a spin...it spins for a couple seconds. I think in europe its THE motor to run, and has been for a while. When EmaxxJeremy gets voltage to his Pletty, you will get a good idea how durable they are. If it lasts a weekend with him, its impressive.

My personal experience was, Ran the ESC less than 5 minutes and smoked a row of FETs. Sent it in, 9 months later they want to charge a repair fee, but Jamie at Starluck worked it out and didnt have to pay a fee. Kinda stinks for service on a $375 ESC.
You were dealing with FD, not BK. You would still be waiting if you were dealing with BK. |
You've probably heard mine already, but my first 9918 took 4 months for repair, and the 2nd 9918 took 6 months.
|
Damn...9 months is rediculously to long. However, whether I was dealing with FD or BK, it still only took a month. If I'm not mistaken, Travis, didn't you go through Mike? Which I would think would be about the same as going through FD (what I mean by that is there is a middleman and Mike is fast as hell, so...)...If anything I would expect it to take longer to go through a retailer, unless its Mike.
|
First time was through Starluck RC, 2nd time was through Mike.
|
I have done 2 schulze through FD, 1 back within 2 weeks, one in 6 months, and EmaxxJeremy did one and got a $200 repair bill and a bag of fets.
|
Which motor will give the longest run times? I heard the pletty was more efficient.
|
On runtimes the pletty and nue are going to be very close.
|
Yeah, their efficiency is close, If you take the same KV, the runtime is about equal.
Yes, that souns like schulze.. He promised me to replace my controller for free.. But i did get a 75 dollar bill, with a PIC controller in a bag.. the 75 dollars where ´research-investigation´ |
lol, reasearch.
I am the reason for the line in the rules " cannot use two motors arranged on common spur". Since I was in spec on every other rule of theirs, they made that one up just for me. And by them saving a couple dollars and not replacing my controller, I cost them thousands by reporting it to everyone wanting to buy a controller. Brilliant schulze.... These new guys dont know how bad it used to be, or they would REALLY REALLY appreciate the Castle guys..... |
Bomb... I remember reading about BL back in the day... but I never got one until the Hacker combo.
If anyone doesn't appreciate what we have now, we should make them buy a coupel airplane controllers and mess with them for a while. Then buy a Schulze... then they can graduate to a CC or Quark, etc. :) |

Well I haven't been on RC forums nor the RC niche in a long time. Kinda got busy and all stuff just put on halt especially all my hobbies. I don't really even know why I ended up at Monster-RC checking out the forums. LOL
Anyhow, I really like my Plettenberg BigMaxximum, yeah and been lucky not to burn out my Schulze 18.97 KW, and I do run 18 cells on it. I run my full aluminum G-Maxx with that motor/esc combo and love it. I haven't played with it in a long time but when I have, it ran great. I also have a few other brushless motors but I do prefer my Plettenberg over them. If I wasn't using my Plettenberg BigMaxximum, I would probably run a Lehner 1940 or maybe the Feigao 7XL that I have on the G-Maxx. I am planning on buying a Plettenberg Bolido with 10 lipo cell config for my 1/5 scale McLaren F1 project to replace the Gas Engine I took out. I really like these motors and would be first on my list before considering anything else or Lehner motors tho I wouldn't mind looking into these "neu" motors. I haven't been around so I am not so familiar with the new stuff. Here is a pic of my old ride.. Probably lost in the forums by now, with all these great projects I have seen. All scuffed up with all the bashing but still looks good on the pics tho they are old pics.. LOL I do even have a vid I made bashing of it long time ago somewhere. Yeah I like posting pics ever since people used to always ask for pics so there.. http://www.juggernaut23.com/E-Maxx%2...Maxx%20003.JPG http://www.juggernaut23.com/E-Maxx%2...%20A%20013.JPG I even planned on running dual BigMaxximum's on my Full custom Monster Truck, I just need to finish the axle project with the supermaxx 8 spider diffs that are 98% complete. Yeah this one is more of a show truck but at least I run my G-Maxx like a basher. Yeah You can say I really like the Plettenberg motors.. LOL.. http://www.juggernaut23.com/Jugg%20D...209d%20000.JPG http://www.juggernaut23.com/Jugg%20D...209d%20001.JPG http://www.juggernaut23.com/Jugg%20D...Axle%20021.JPG http://www.juggernaut23.com/Jugg%20D...Axle%20024.JPG |
Awesome rides! What the hell is that rear axle for??????????? :)
|
clean trucks, and where did you find that axle??
|
The set of axles were custom built for me with custom CVDs.
I couldn't get MIP to custom make me a few sets of CVDs because they wanted a run of 500 at least so I had someone make em for me as well. It's just too bad that the axles aren't finished yet because the people helping me have dropped off the face of the earth, well one got too busy and another had family problems so he is out of the picture for now. Oh by the way what is a good replacement for the Schulze 18.97 kwf if and when mine burns out for the Pletty? |
Probably a BK 9920 or 12020 but I've never had one myself.

Any way, I would use a Quark 125b; I love mine... Bye:018: |
I would say go with the quark. Nothing wrong with the schulze when it is running right. It is just when they fry is the problem. I remember the truck
chase. video to. It is in the thread you had. I still think that was a clean truck. May not long as good now for wear and tear. Still nice none the less. |
I thought me was running 18 cells? So it's BK, Schulze, or MGM.
I guess MGM 16024 would be it??? Can the Quark do 18 cells ok? EDIT: Ok... I just used my brain and I see the Quark should do 18 fine huh? :007: I'm only running 4s so I don't pay as much attention to the HV ones right now. I'm thinking the MMM will change that. I'll be going 6s I think. |
Quote:
|
True... 18 cells is kinda right between 5s and 6s... maybe it's not a slam dunk.
|
The quark runs 6s just fine once the pack voltage starts to drop little from its peak. SO I would imagine that the 18cells would be just fine.
|
The bk is no good on 4 polers. If you run one. Work fine on a 2 poler up to 20
cells or 6s. Never tried more. |
The Maxx might be clean but still a basher.. hehe.. tho I do have an almost stock E-Maxx with a HV-Maxx for a basher too.
I was going to use the HV-maxx for a crawler but it was having problems running on my custom TXT-1 (Project Orion) Dunno why it was having problems but I went back to using Magnetic Mayhems instead. http://www.juggernaut23.com/TXT-1%20...0V5%200004.JPG I might have to get me a set of better brushless motors for the TXT-1 than the HV-Maxx. |
That txt looks great. Do you crawl with it or just run it around? Got any
body off pics? There is a crawler section now to on forum. If you didn't know. |
