As far as charging 2 packs at once, its not recomended at all. You can buy 2 of the cheaper ones and be miles ahead.

EOS 5i? Are you sure you don't mean the EOS 7i? The 7i will do in series 5s (upto), I have this charger actually, and will not do my 5s at all unless it's half charged already, it will do my 4s with no sweat though in series. This is the whole reason I got the 989 (which is better IMO). I would go with the 989. Works with the hyperion balancer too, no prob.

BlackedOutREVO 01.31.2007 01:34 PM

why not 2 packs? i asked austin about that and the y balancer and he said i can make anything u need and too batts at once work fine, same answer with bp revo and alot of other ppl

He might mean at the amps you want to do. But the Hyperion EOS 7i can do in series with no prob (y harness) not sure about the EOS 5i.

what about the super brain 989?

I love the 989. it charges my 5s no issues ( 2s2p + 3s2p 8000mah). I love the 989 and would recommend it to anyone. AC/DC charger, comes with power supply, everything you need!

BlackedOutREVO 01.31.2007 02:01 PM

and does the screen show the mah its at when charging and all that? or atleast show how far it is?

neweuser 01.31.2007 02:07 PM

it sure does. It'll show the voltage, amps, mah, how many cells, time, degrees (nimh only) all the goodies. :)

BlackedOutREVO 01.31.2007 02:09 PM

SWEET!!! thats awsome.. last one, does it get really hot like super brains in the past? or have they fixed that?

Both the charger and PS have a fan built in. It gets warm, but not HOT.

Sylvester 01.31.2007 05:57 PM

Fans always there to help both of them.. Newe, do you know where the fan is located in the charger? I can clearly see it on the PS but was wondering where it was in the Charger?

I believe it's towards the middle. Hard to locate on the 989, but it's in there pretty deep i think. I have only heard mine kick in like twice though.

Sylvester 01.31.2007 06:24 PM

Yea; the charger doesnt get that hot.. if i were to use a lower mah than 8000 than i doubt the fan would kick in, unless it was a hot day ;)

neweuser 01.31.2007 06:30 PM

I use 8000 5s usually, the charger is great, I really like it a lot! (989)

Sylvester 01.31.2007 06:33 PM

I love the 989. Very user friendly, and most importantly does the job! I charge 4s 8000 and a 2s 8000. It works flawlessly with the LBA10, which is too, the most user-friendly balancer out there!

Very cool. I use my 989 mostly for my 5s (2s2p, 3s2p), but I also have used it for my 4s (2x 2s2p) and my 2s 2100 for my rc18t. I also use it for all my rx packs too.

Thats a bit of batteries. I think the 989 cant be beat for value, i wonder how long they will last, Major testing is in my chargers future:)

I agree. But I have two chargers thankfully! I should have waited though. I bought the 989 when it was 169.99! ARG! now it's 140.00! But, it's all worth it to have good stuff....

Sylvester 01.31.2007 06:46 PM

You use 2 989's?

Oh no, I wish...I also have a Hyperion EOS 7i, which I like very much too, but it would not do my 5s worth spit! It does my 4s with no probs though. :032:

Sylvester 01.31.2007 06:55 PM

Isnt the 7i rated for 5s? 989 can probably do 8s with no probs.

It is, but for some reason, I can't get it too. Brian and I tried to figure it out for like a few weeks, still can't. If I charge the 5s partly, then it will finish the job, but what's the point, may as well finish on the 989 that I started it on! LOL

Sylvester 01.31.2007 07:01 PM

Lol!

BlackedOutREVO 01.31.2007 07:58 PM

thats good to hear.. does it make that really high pitch noise the other ones do??

my friends have the pruple super brain charger (dont know which one) and there kind annoying lol

jnev 01.31.2007 10:32 PM

Good to hear all this informative and helpful info about the 989 and that people like it a lot. Can't wait to order it. :027:

Is it the regular EOS5i? It's the same charger as the Multiplex LN-5014 (internally), and the LN-5014 is limited to 50watts power output.
This charger cannot interface with the LBA10 balancer, which is what I meant (I know the charger/balancer will work together).

Then there's the EOS5iDP:
http://aircraft-world.com/shopexd.asp?id=4416
I looked all over the manual (even searched in it) for a maximum output power rating, but couldn't fit it.
