with a 3 speed you should hit 50 mph easy. At least I would hope so

http://slkelectronics.com/MM7/index.htm the better way to save your lipo´s ;)

Hardstyle 03.21.2007 05:32 PM

I think that the lisaver works very well too :)

Anyway got my other stuffs today, thanks to Mike for fast shipping.. I ordered the hyperions connector and ubec too, have to get some weight off in that thing :005:
I also got last week the battery trays from Kyosho (Twin force). Have to mod the holders a bit to get my maxamps to fit em..

And sorry guys for the video, havent got any yet. Ill try to get the video asap..

Hardstyle 03.24.2007 07:33 AM

Now im gonna charge the lipos, so justincase Im gonna ask that im I connecting the hyperion lead correct.

Heres the lead:
http://images.imagefap.com/images/thumb/528311853.jpg
I noticed that there were 2 red wires going on one, is it normal?

http://images.imagefap.com/images/thumb/1449632395.jpg

This is how I will connect it to my charger. Like the wires are now, im gonna cut the tap off and peel the wires and screw em to the tereminal, right to the left in the same order.. So should it be that simple :032:

Serum 03.24.2007 07:43 AM

measure how it's configured. it should be clear then.

Hardstyle 03.24.2007 07:58 AM

The 2 red wires im a bit worried. I dont think that my charger will understand how many cells there are... How can I measure? I dont have any electric devices which I could measure it

Hardstyle 02.25.2009 05:02 PM

Lifetime project continues

Woah almost 2 years have been gone since my last post here. Dang time travels way too fast :mdr:

Anyway I still own this "combination fridge" unfortunately, it haven't gone anywhere.
Im out of projects now and I decided to take this baby to finish line. Any chances? Maybe few skills has improved during this time, I hope. Thanks to this amazing forum

Ok, now to the point. The truck is at the same condition what it was few years ago.. Tons of aluminium, poorly mounted motor and battery trays otherwice its stock. 3rd speed gearbox and so on..

I got it running, but very poorly success. It ate the 60$ pinion, which I purchased from finedesign. I dont think it was all the cause of the bad motor mounting, but the pinion was also very bad.

I have thought putting emaxx tranny in there and toss the 3rd speed for fishnets weight.. Emaxx tranny because it would be a lot easier to gear, easier to mount the motor, saves weight, what else... saves space.

What do you guys think, is this even possible? I haven't yet measure the space for emaxx tranny, but I think it will fit. Have to do somekind of tranny holder for the side plates.

Anything else? Thats about it, O did I mentioned that the truck weights around 22lbs

Sry for my articulation, im still learning

If you figure out how to do the emaxx transmission, lets talk. I need some more speed and this trans is maxxed out on gearing.

Arct1k 02.25.2009 06:19 PM

I'd do something different!

I'm thinking an RCM centre diff mount or two of your choice mounted between the TVP's with a buggy diff... Should be easy enough to create plates to hold the diff mount...

That gets rid of the brake setup - the two speed and the ugly motor mount.

It should also give you plenty of room to move the battery inside the TVP...

Sure do. This is all in theoretical level still. Have to think other options too..

Not sure if I understood correctly. You mean two of these rcm motor/diff mount thingies and centre diff between them? Does it work?
Thats funny cause I have thought the same thing. But wasn't really sure about it.. Practically this? http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...d=RCMLosiMount

Arct1k 02.25.2009 07:06 PM

It could It is going to require some work - But yes I'm suggesting a couple of rcm motor mount supenseded between the TVPs to give you a centre diff setup...

_paralyzed_ 02.25.2009 09:54 PM

a plate on the motor mount plate in place of the motor and mount with any buggy diff attached to it and aluminum angle for a motor mount. Trannies over complicate brushless setups. The torgue negates any need for multiple gears.

Hardstyle 02.26.2009 12:36 PM

Thanks for the inputs
Center diff would be very nice, no doupt about it.. And it would be rather easy to fit in there. Are the mounts how wide? Just wondering that if I mount them between the tvps it would screw the drivetrain? If the motor would come on top of the diff, instead of the side it should work. Any thoughts?

Should I ask Mike to make custom mount so I would be able to get the motor on top of the diff and get the driveline straight?

Hardstyle 02.26.2009 05:14 PM

Parting out the truck.

93firebird 02.27.2009 12:04 AM

I wanna know what pinion adapter you are using and what pinions to use, as I am in the process of building a brush-less genesis. I want to use the 21t and 25t (like the nemesis) but I am not sure about what pitch,

Hardstyle 02.27.2009 09:25 AM

The adaptor/pininon what I used were bought at finedesignrc.com. But trust me, it wasnt good at all. I think that the adaptor/hub what they use is for boat applications. Im pretty sure Mike would do much better and cheaper adaptor for you . I had there stock gears from the genesis clutch. Ps. I waited my order from finedesignrc about 6 months

Imo the 2 gear pinion is huge PITA, very hard to get the correct gear mesh in genesis trucks. Thats a part of a reason why I try to install center diff so I can get rid of the 2 gear pinion.

Hardstyle 02.27.2009 11:32 AM

This is what I have thought.. This is all in developement level. Actually the diff is gonna be a bit lower, now its just there cause there's screw holes. I'll try to mount everything so that I can get batterie(s) inside. Not sure what I will end up using, maybe lipos.
Theres two unused servo places, so I get rid of them and I think motor should fit there just fine. Opinions? Should I do something differently? How do I attach the diff/motor mount? HEEEEEELLLPPPP :mdr:

Arct1k 02.27.2009 11:56 AM

Thats the basic idea - but use one of these with a Hotbodies diff off of ebay...

http://www.rc-monster.com/prodimages...unt_webnew.JPG

Turn it 90 deg so that you can mount the motor as you have it in the pics. Then you just need an extension to make the mount hit the sides.

Get a "normal" diff mount for the other side in the same manner.

I would then add some additional bracing between the diff mounts...

Hardstyle 02.27.2009 03:36 PM

Thanks Arct1k I appreciate that.

Yes thats the only way to do this. Sideways it would twist the axles to a bad angle..

About the HB Center diffs spur gear. Is it always the same size or can I get there what ever I want? More closely are these center diff cars only geared from the pinion?

The bracing I can make by my self, so its the thing what goes from side to the other side of the diff? So the diff mounts are solid?

Dang, this car will be a blast :mdr:, have to do some gearing calculations.

jzemaxx 02.27.2009 03:37 PM

Center diff is nice, but that would disqualify me from racing. To run in production monster truck is has to use a trans. So I will venture down another path. I think an emaxx tranny is the way to go.

Hardstyle 02.27.2009 03:52 PM

I did some measuring from my emaxx tranny. It was about 1cm too wide from the motor plate to get it to fit between tvp's. But I think it would fit with the One side only motor plate... or if you'd keep the tranny little bit higher. Don't know about the axles angles then, might disturb them to work properly.. But hell ye, give it a shot then see who will get the truck running first :intello:

Arct1k 02.27.2009 04:10 PM

Well are you sure what if you lock the tranny with a cen diff locker... would that not count...

IIRC the koysho spurs sit so you could use 44 or 46t...

I'd just use ali rod on the sides to attach to the tvps and use two diff top braces to stiffen the setup in the direction of the tvps

Hardstyle 02.27.2009 05:32 PM

Arct1k What about this one, there would be all-in-one?

http://www.rc-monster.com/prodimages...bled%20web.jpg

Arct1k 02.27.2009 05:46 PM

That looks like a losi eight - Only the metal bits come in the kit from Mike.

Just put a note on the main page - lots of people will have a spare diff mount from their conversion. I should have a jammin one at home if you want it...

Hardstyle 02.28.2009 07:18 AM

Pmed ya!
I totally forgot to look what our lhs has to offer..

Hardstyle 03.01.2009 06:58 PM

Arct1k did you got my pm? It's ok if you didn't I did some searching from my lhs's. I think I found everything.

Here is some stuff what I found:

- Spider Diff Center Hobao Hyper 7 & 8
- Diff Box Hyper 7
- Hobao Hyper 8 Diff Mount
- XB808 Center Diff
- XB808 Diff mount
- XB8EC Diff Mount
- 50T CENTER DIFFERENTIAL HARDENED LIGHTN. STADIUM PRO
- CENTRE DIFF HOUSING SET
- Center Diff STR

Just a few examples.. Im quite interested about the spider diff, that should be strong enough? I really don't know much about these center diffs, haven't own a buggy ever :mdr:
Can I get stuffs cheaper from Mike?

Edit:.
Forget to mention that money isn't now so big trouble.

Hardstyle 03.02.2009 04:28 PM

Monolog continues. So can I go wrong if I order Hobao Hyper Spider Diff to center and Hobao Hyper 8 Diff Mount to it? If I can choose what spur gear with it what would be good 46t? I might also order upper brace plate to it, so I don't have to make one myself.. Hows that sounds?

Hardstyle 03.04.2009 03:09 PM

Dang this thread is too exciting

OK. I throwed the spider diff idea away and ordered basic hb lightning stadium center diff 50T. Like Arkt1c recommend at the first place..
Just to be sure, are the diff and center diff housing the right ones now. Look the pic below..

Does anyone know what type of pinion gears would be needed to run with the stock tranny of the genesis?

jzemaxx 03.04.2009 11:38 PM

Mod 1 gears.

93firebird 03.04.2009 11:40 PM

thanks for the quick reply!
One more thing, are the gears for the two speed adapter mod 1? They don't say in the description.

Hardstyle 03.10.2009 11:41 AM

Center diff and housings arrived today. And with my luck the housings seems to be wrong ones  It's very minor problem. Housing is 15mm and bearings are 16mm. So I think I could work that housing a little bit. Maybe drill the hole little bit bigger.
Good news is that the cen dogbone fits there perfectly.

Arct1k, is that center diff one you recommended? Might those phillips screws be a problem with Mike's mount?

Arct1k 03.11.2009 07:42 AM

I'm guessing you have the Hot Bodies Center Diff Hardened Lightning centre diff - The issue is you have the HB LS10 centre diff mounts - you need the LSP centre diff mounts...

Hardstyle 03.11.2009 07:53 AM

Thanks!
What about the Mike's motor/diff mount? Is the center diff compatible with this?

http://www.rc-monster.com/prodimages...unt_webnew.JPG

Arct1k 03.11.2009 08:24 AM

Yes - I would get one of these and use one of the plastic mounts from HBSC8150..

Brushless motor mount - Hot Bodies Lightning Stadium

Replaces rear center diff bulk for mounting a single electric motor at the right rear position of the truck (behind the steering servo).

Hardstyle 03.11.2009 08:41 AM

Yep, thanks for clarifying.

One question about the center diff. As you can see there's "phillips" style screws at the diff. Will it be problem with the brushless mount? I think I can't use there flat screws..

<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/QAJi7twapAbdNTi1IRzv1g?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_h3y_-DGefB8/SbaDPEXemTI/AAAAAAAABOo/9Z4OKwi8PGg/s400/IMG_0154.jpg" /></a>

Arct1k 03.11.2009 08:52 AM

They are metric so you could use button hex screws or just countersink the spur...

Hardstyle 03.11.2009 09:04 AM

OK. I'll wait till I get my hands on the motor mount. So I can see if the screws scratches the mount.

What diff fluid would you recommend in there. Now I have front (iirc) 7k and rear 4 or 5k. There's now very thin fluid maybe 5 to 10k in the center diff. Maybe use 30k? Not going to race.. Some wheelies would be nice..
