That would be huge...

This day will come, I have no doubt about this.
But then we converter freaks will have to find a new challenge!

I live in Warner Robins, about 15 miles south of Macon. Where abouts do you live? I always thought with your connection to Hippie , you lived in Florida. And let me know when you get things setup, I'd like to jion in. I don't tote as much power as you guys, so i'll just have to hope my driving makes up for it
I am in Augusta, we have a pretty nice track here. That should be around 2 hours from you.

Well, I'd say this is the best news so far - just that something is coming or at least in the planning stages is encouraging.

Excellent...It's the people here on this forum that all need to ban together and race this class. We are the ones keeping it alive. I don't know if Mike C is having another event - hope so. I realize that's far from many of you guys maybe some day I've venture out of my 3 hour RC drive limit for an event. If you want to come up north a bit, plan on coming to the new Monster Madness (held at Wolcott this year.) Otherwise I think guys should use this forum to announce and build events catering to E-MT racers. If we don't, no one else will. If XRC holds a battery blast race again this year, I'm sure I can arm-twist them into having an E-MT class.

Just yesterday I went out to the local 1/8 offroad track with my brushless Revo. At many times I was the only guy on the track (out of maybe 10 nitros) since some guys were having to deal with their nitro engines. Towards the end of the day I was turning the heads of some of the better drivers (like the ones sponsored by Ofna, Panther, etc.). But by no means is my driving near theirs, and my Revo certainly isn't set up perfectly. On top of that, my Crime Fighter MTs weren't hooking up on that surface.

Anyways, after the steering arm on my Revo broke, I took it back to the pits and ended up talking with a guy (sponsored by Ofna). Our conversation was sort of back-and-forth about electric vs. nitro. The way he was talking it seemed that he thought the brushless controllers go into thermal protection mode too much, which my Revo wasn't having any problems with (thanks to the fan on the MM). Then we started talking about batteries. With the new Maxamps 5000mah cells, you could get 4 of them and build a powerful 4s pack for ~$150. Then, you'd need two sets if you wanted to be at all competitive. The guy brought up that two sets of batteries would be the cost of a nitro engine. My reply was that the batteries will last a long time, and he said that the engine in his Ofna Hyper ST had been through 5 gallons. Unfortunately, I failed to mention that 5 gallons of fuel would cost the normal guy at least $125 (for all I know he might get fuel through a sponsorship). Our conversation ended for the most part at that point because I had to go home. But next weekend I'm hoping to make it out there again with the Revo, and I should also have a replacement spur gear that stripped on my X-Terminator (the Feigao 540C motor is coming apart at the front endbell).

When he complained about the cost, you should say "If you cant afford to pay for the best, then you should stick with nitro"

MetalMan 02.19.2007 02:10 PM

LOL. I need to get some better tires for my Revo and hand him the transmitter. Then he'll see why electric is better ;).

If your track is fairly dry and hard packed, you might want to try Holeshot's.

MetalMan 02.19.2007 02:24 PM

The track surface varies a bit, in some areas it's super loose, in others it's hard. I think one of the guys there said Bow Ties work well.

Yea man, thats why we drove 1000 miles to race for the weekend with you guys, hopefully we will make something happen. The main thing is getting people to drive and show up....companies sponsoring the events is fairly easy. Getting a track to hold such a race takes a little effort, but I can set it up.

nbcaznmaster 02.19.2007 06:22 PM

we dont need "SOME COMPANIES" we need ALL the companies. Gotta get traxxas, losi, hpi, and all them big names.

PS. Bomb, are u from BPP?

If Bowties work well, CF should do pretty good as well. Holeshots, from what I've heard, do well on hard packed, blue groove tracks. I would only assume they won't do to well were its not hardpacked.

MetalMan 02.19.2007 07:55 PM

I asked on the track's forums what tires to use, and am awaiting a response. But the Crime Fighters were sliding around everywhere, and I wasn't making a lot of jumps I should have been because of that.

I've got to say, that was very impressive. You have a lot more dedication to the hobby than I do.

I posted a question on my track's web forum asking if the Revo guys would let me run my E-CRT with them this year. The overwhelming reply is NO. Of course they are all saying that my truck is a truggy and that's an advantage bla bla bla...so tonight I started rebuilding my old BPP Race Bomb E-Maxx...oh yeah...it's coming back. They can't say a thing about running an OLD Maxx based design against the Revos...

David, if/when you decide to sell that to, let me know. :D

ya man.

Ya Dave, it will add salt to the wounds when you smoke em with the Maxx based truck for sure. :027: Some of the locals threw a fit when I wanted to run my electric Revo in the Unlimited truggy/Revo class(no engine limit). They actually refused to race...lol.

jnev 02.21.2007 07:59 PM

Now that just shows the fear of racing against brushless. They know that they are going to get their *ss handed to them, lol.

You would think ''unlimited'' would mean just that. It should be unlimited. Nitro, electric, cold fusion.... It shouldnt matter. It should be unlimiterd. Freakin babies!!

crazyjr 02.25.2007 12:38 AM

I ran a race one time where i lapped the MT class, They said it was because it was brushless and didn't count(the racers, not the track owner), So i did the same thing with a Nitro 3.3 revo the next week. They were embarassed
