Yeah lutach that happened to me. It was one of those spotlight bulbs from the fixtures you put on your house. Luckily I wasn't standing in front of it when it blew. It was a 175W bulb so it made quite a loud pop! On a lighter note I've also managed to explode LEDs and be showered in hot plastic bits!

In Brasil they sell some big fire crackers called "Rojao". My cousins and I stuck one in a glass bottle and instead of me running behind the brick fence, I went behind the light pole which in Brasil are made out of concrete and are about 16 inches wide. Well the "Rojao" went off and I got showered by bits of glass and it didn't feel good at all. Here are a few links of a "Rojao" in action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyuOl...eature=related :oh:, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4oy9z...eature=related :surprised: (I did this too), http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Li-G3...eature=related, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbCByzkbUGg . Can you believe they sell them to anyone in Brasil .
|
Man, thats a serious bit of pyromania. They also sell massive fireworks in the UK to anyone over 18, which is both cool but rather worrying since kids tend to get their hands on them quite easiy. Just before midnight on newyears eve some idiots set of some fireworks at ground level in the local public park (avenue gardens)- the damn things showered a bunch of people in sparks, but no-one was hurt thankfully. Back in the day my older brother and all his mates used to chuck camping gas canisters onto fires and blow things up- harmless teenage fun if you can run away fast enough..... hehehe.
|
Its serious!
My wifes brother 14yo blown his fingers off with similar stuff he put it to some kind of iron tube and this tube exploded in his hand then hi fired it up (too short ignition wire) he lost 2 thingers in right hand and in left hand 3 fingers are stiched back and lots of injures from frag they took out ~20 pieces from hands and some pieces from body and face.
Hold childs away from that kind of stuf!!! PS! And still unbeatable in CounterStrike ;) |
See what our Children (aka us big children) we all have to resort to for entertain because Castle doesn't release the Monster...
Hey I live in the US sounds like a class action suit in the making... |
I swear I seen somewhere Patrick saying the controllers were ready and they were waiting for plastic. Man I would've gotten one naked .
|
Yes on the rcgroups thread - I keep prodding there once in a while but silence is the only answer now...

My mother was standing under (2ft below) one of those 300w outdoor flood lights. We were talking to some friends when everything started going blue and the conversation stopped. Then bang the bulb exploded sending red hot glass into her hair. It stunk of burning hair. Thing was she thought it was funny.
Earth leakage protection is a great thing too. My dog is still alive today because of it. He was throwing around a stuffed teddy and he bit clean through the 240v power cord to my laptop when the teddy landed on it. Had never seen him move so fast. I also really don't think a HV controller is any where near as dangerous as a motor bike and look who they sell those too. I'm not saying people who ride bikes are idiots but idiots do get there hands on them and it often ends really badly. |
I think we all have to remember where there is a want there is a way. The government bands assault weapons yet most crimes in the US are done by people with assault weapons that have had their rights to having a gun taken away. Just because something is dangerous does not mean it’s not obtainable. Stupidity also plays a factor. We have all been there and done something stupid. I know we all push our luck and limits. It’s the shifting of the blame I can’t stand. A good example is New Orleans when Katrina hit. Most of the people that complained about the government not doing anything were the same people were warned that a storm was coming that would flood the city. These same people decided by them selves to stay and wait it out. Yet they complain that the government didn’t do anything. Then they needed money, new homes, and new jobs??? What the heck is this all about? I then look at Denver Co. that winter got a bad snow storm. They got over 9 feet of snow. I don’t remember them complaining about the government not doing anything. They dug them selves out and went on. We can also look at the racism issue. The only people that keep racism alive are the ones that think every one else is racist. The voice of the people needs to stand up together. It’s a proven fact that a man takes 100 people hostage with a “Knife” only 2 people will stand up to him. The 98 others will do as he says. It doesn’t matter that they have him out numbered or that he only has a knife, its just human nature. It’s my opinion but things will not change. They will only get worse. Things have gotten bad when 1 man can remove the 10 commandment from a court house because he doesn’t believe in god yet he is willing to use money that states “in god we trust.” He took away 100’s of other right to see the 10 commandments yet they said nothing. I was glad to see your words Linc. There are not many who stand in the 2% range.

The whole Katrina thing made me think of an email I received a while back:

My advise is to buy some guns and stock up on ammo, my observations over the last 5 years have shown that ammo has steadily increased in price, certain calibers have trippled in price. And speaking with a large volume independent ammo dealer, demand is at a high point. You cannot loose money on ammo right now, so it is at least a good monetary investment. And it may be an incredibly useful bartering tool should the whole thing end up in the can! |

Racism, is a term stupid people use to describe why intelligent people do not like them. It also applies to people who have extremely low self esteem. I then by definition am a racist, I can't stand stupidity and have a high self esteem (often mistaken as a "superiority complex"). It is just another word that has lost its meaning. If you do not hire somebody, suddenly your are a racist, or bigamist, or cyst, or some crap like that. I amazes me that our country prides itself in selection the correct color person for the job, instead of the most qualified/experienced. Too many soccer moms, trying to tell me how to wipe my butt! Oh well, I at least I have the dedication and firearms to make the best out of it!

What the hell does all of this have to do with the esc???? You all really lost me.

I think we went from ESC > stupid people hurting them selves > people expecting the government to do stuff for them > supposed racism issues > stocking up on guns to prepare for WW3 or Zombies taking over the world.
Interesting though, the politcal correctness brigade have completely taken over the UK in the last decade or so; dustbin men are now 'refuse collection operatives', you cant call people 'luv' (as in "hello luv, how are you?"), and christian symbols and icons have to be removed from buildings for fear of upsetting or descriminating against other religions. If you ask me, the world already has gone down the pan... |
Gotta love the direction these threads go into.

Many Topics.
Licpimp and the rest of you are right on the money again with this topic. How many of you go through the day and see people that do the stupidest crap and you have to wonder how the hell they managed to make it into their 20' or 30's and have not accidently killed themselves. Not to mention wished they had. I meet people like that almost every single day. I love the natural selection process theory.
Have any of you had the pleasure of reading what the Autralian treasury priminester wrote to the citizens there just before Christmas? He basically told all of the imigrants who moved there that this is our country which was founded on christian beliefs and if you don't like it leave. This is our country and if you don't wish to adapt to our way of life then, go back to where you came from and stop complaining about the way we live here. I felt the pride of their citizens and wished that our own goverment would stand up for the USA in that fashion. We have been bowing down to the wishes of outsiders for far too long already. If this keeps up I fear for the fall of the USA. Our own government is selling the country rought out from under us with all of the kinder gentler policies that have been adapted over the last 20 years or so.:lol: |

Just had to speak to CC re my cripsy MM replacement (another $50 :() - Anyway official line is late Jan delivery for MMM is officially gone and target is now Q1 (Quarter 1 / first 3 month / by end March / by Mar 31st / 31st March).
Still there for summer - maybe... Rgds |
Q1? When is that?
|
Q1 = first quarter i think.... ?
|
Well, since there are 12 months in a year, and a quarter is 1/4 of the year, I would assume this means each quarter is 3 months. So that would mean that the end of Q1 is March 31st. :mdr:
Unless of course their fiscal quarters don't line up with calendar quarters... |

With 6S+ LiPo I would worry about how to proper monitor battery voltage and keeping noise down... But what stops us from putting hydro-ESC to truck with mechanical brakes? Ok with proper heatsinking... But safety would be a concern here above 36V. And 24V can be very dangerous in wet environment... |

A little OT but not totally, all this talk reminds me of a recent news article about a kid who wanted to keep his xbox 360 running cool. To accomplish this he wrapped the power supply in glad wrap to waterproof it and placed it in a bucket of water.
The strange part is that the power supply isn't even the source of any of the heat problems.. needless to say, he didnt fair too well after that little experiment. still alive though i think. |
Dear lord, where do some of these people come from?.... I would have thought putting the xbox in one of those mini- fridges with the cables poking out a small hole would have been a good solution to overheating; lesson learned I guess, lol.
