Lol, hmmm... one guy on here a earlier this year ran one of these on an MMM V1 on 6s and said it pulled up ok  But i really do not want to be sending another one back  Im expressing to and from MGM, so hopefully it won't take the 8 weeks

P.S what is the best way to solder the motor wires directly to the ESC, just hold them together, get them hot, and make a big ball of solder around them?

Mate i would do the math on the V3. It is only rated for 120A, and considering your motor will pull 200+ amps on 6s i would hate to see you sending two speedies off for repair in the same week. Yeah hopefully you will get your speedy back from MGM soon. Not to rain on your parade but when i ordered mine from them it took 3 weeks to get to me:gasp:. so your probably looking at about 8 week turn around:gasp:

Let him try it. Patrick said the Mamba Monster can handle any motor you throw at it. If it does fail, it still under warranty. He's getting new gears and this will tell the truth of the ESC's capabilities. I'm hoping it works so I can put my Mamba Monster in my BPP to try it out.

hey Lutach, how do you think the new gearing will go, the 48/10 is geared for 43mph and the 46/12 is geared for 53mph. Do you think that will still overload the ESC? Should i start with the 48/10 or 46/12? Oh, and thanks for letting ME be the guinea pig

You have Buggy diffs? I would change them to the Truggy diff first. Hot bodies' are 4.3:1 and Mugen's are 4.6:1. My truggy is geared for 34mph, but it was clocked at 46mph which is the exact MPH with 1" of tire ballooning. If you go with the truggy diffs, you can use the 46/10-12 or the 48/10-12 as well. Now the only way to be sure the ESC won't get over loaded with your monster motor is to try it out.

You can have the honor of testing the Mamba Monster to see if it truly handles anything you throw at it .

I wonder if cc factored this into "anything".

thephilonator 11.28.2008 05:58 AM

what the hell?

you managed to melt the solder between the bullet and the wire. how?

i'm thinking that the amps pulled by the esc caused soo much heat that it melted the solder and then with the bullet barely touching the wire, thatn just made things worse. maybe completly wriong, just throwing it out there.

the truck look sexy in post #252

batts are FAT tho.

and you're asian eh? hi-5 i am too.

LOL parents are from Singapore, but lived here all my life. I think the connection wasnt good in the first place, so there was arcing in the connector, thats why it was all black/burnt up. Im going to solder the motor to the ESC straight so that doesnt happen again.

P.S i just got home if you're wondering why im posting at 1:30 in the morning :drunk:

Where are the updates?!??! LOL

jordan... 11.28.2008 07:27 PM

Huh, ummm... not too much to say, i ordered the gearing which should be here early next week. Express postage still means 5 days when you live in Australia!! Hopefully i should get the MGM back at the end of next week or early the week after. I'm not too sure if i want to try the MMM V3 with this setup, im contemplating whether i should sell it while its still NIB

Try the MMM. I want to see if it can handle anything you throw at it.

BL_RV0 11.28.2008 09:27 PM

It apparently can, except high voltage.

thephilonator 11.29.2008 04:44 AM

1:30 in the morning and you have the energy to bother to turn on the computer and post. i would have just slept, i'm usually buggered by 2am.

i reckon u should first check if killing the MMM by drawing too many amps is covered by the warrenty. then if it is (and it's written, not just some guy on the phone says so) then try it. if not, well then, your call.

postage is SOOOO :bad::bad::grrrrrr::grrrrrr::grrrrrr::grrrrrr: to Australia. took almost a month to get a padded envelope to me from chicago.:gasp:

:grrrrrr::bad:

jordan... 11.29.2008 05:50 AM

nah, i just leave my computer on the whole day, so it was on when i got home. Good point about the MMM, i had a look in the manual and it says the warrenty doesnt cover 'overloading' which im pretty sure excessive amp draw comes under.

Oh well, i expressed shipped my MGM to the Czech Replubic, cost $60, but should get there within three days, two days to fix the controller, and another three days back and it should be sweet. Hopefully thats how the timeframe works out anyway!

JERRY2KONE 11.29.2008 07:35 AM

Wishful Thinking.

Now that is wishful thinking. If you are lucky it will get there in like a week, and WHEN they finally do get around to troubleshooting your ESC, and maybe fixing it in a couple of weeks, then they will ship it back to you for another week or two of traveling time. With the Holiday season upon us you may see it sometime in the New Year IF you are lucky. You need to look at it from teh real world perspective and expect the worse, then if it arrives early you can be happy and celebrate. Good luck with that Jordan.:lol::lol::lol:

Patrick said the Mamba Monster can handle any motor you throw at it. So if he said that, I guess it'll be under warranty. If it fails, then we will all know the limit and Castle would have to be more specific on what the ESC can handle. I'm sitting here just waiting for someone to try the ESC with one of the large 1527 or low turn 1521.
