Hey mistercrash! That guy is here on RCM. http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23804 :intello:

mistercrash 02.24.2011 02:15 PM

What a small RC world we live in

Here's what I came up with for a first draft. I don't think I could use the spur cover with a mount like that.

Bondonutz 02.24.2011 02:29 PM

I can sooo totally appreciate all the work that gentleman did on the french forum with the custom alum Merv chassis, to make that chassis he must of spent many many hours designing and making but if speed runs are desired why not just buy a TC ?

Shonen 02.24.2011 05:31 PM

hmm, that project looks very interesting. If I did a fully custom 1:16 chassis, I would probably try to adapt a 1:10 offroad transmission into it. I recently rebuilt an AE RC10T3 magnum transmission and it looks more than robust enough to handle the mini Revo platform, transmissions probably get better as new kits are released too. Just a thought.

that prototype is looking good, Mr.C. I like the idea of having two screws instead of just one, as I've shredded many a spur on my macro Revo when the mesh screw slipped. Good work!

mistercrash 02.25.2011 12:00 AM

Thanks but this first drawing I made has a major flaw. I couldn't fix that because I had to go to work. The plate that would attach to the motor could not pivot over the slipper nut. So it should look more like this.

Bondo, I always ask myself the same question.

I kept looking at the picture waiting for it to move

What an amazing thread!!!!! You must have a ton of cash in this truck... Also your work is outstanding. I have loved this thread and the work you have put into the Revo. Thank you

BigoBoogieman 02.27.2011 11:13 PM

Now the next question is are you going to make it out of carbon fiber???:mdr:

bullseye0169 03.15.2011 05:17 PM

Carbon fiber would be good but would it be strong enough??

mistercrash 03.15.2011 06:09 PM

Cf would be strong enough, more rigid than aluminum. But for better heat dissipation, I would do it in aluminum. But I don't feel like doing it right now. I'm too busy and my attention is towards RC helicopters.

bullseye0169 03.15.2011 06:12 PM

Heli is great fun but really really bad when they crash. I may be getting another soon tho. I have a friend that has one and never uses it.

IMO, I don't trust a spinning soda can that has the power to probably run a freaking SmartCar to CF.

I don't know why, in my mind, CF seems to be a bit weak... Again, never really worked with it, but I've always thought (even though it's incorrect, sometimes) metal > CF.

What helicopters!?
Me too!

candy76man 03.15.2011 06:20 PM

Funny you should mention heli's.....After a bad incident involving a Blade CP rtr heli I bought on the spur of the moment a year or two ago (I had some really bad bruises on my arm and broken chopper) I recently decided to give it a second go round cause I didn't like that it had beat me, literally and figuratively. I got a Walkera cb100 to teach myself how to fly this time and I'm slowly getting the hang of it. It's much more forgiving when I crash than the blade was, lol:lol:

mistercrash 03.15.2011 09:05 PM

I've been practicing on the Pheonix sim all winter. I feel I'm ready but my wallet doesn't agree. I'm pretty much set on an Align Trex 500 super combo and a Spektrum DX8 or JR 9503. It's all in my shopping cart on the Great Hobbies website along with an E-Flite Blade CX2 for my son.

The last 8th scale diff for the E-Revo

I kept this CD for myself but I haven't used it in a year or more and since I won't be racing anymore, I decided to sell it. So if anyone wants the last of these, go on the link below, it's posted on RCTech.

http://www.rctech.net/forum/r-c-item...nter-diff.html

bullseye0169 03.27.2011 04:03 PM

This will not work with a nitro Revo? Will it?

mistercrash 03.27.2011 07:11 PM

No it will not work, it's too big and the tooth count on the gear is not the same as the nitro version.

bullseye0169 03.27.2011 08:08 PM

Sorry to bother you... Thank you..

mistercrash 03.27.2011 08:57 PM

No bother and you're welcomed.

mistercrash 03.29.2011 08:47 AM

The last 8th scale center diff is sold. :yipi:

That's a whole spring/summer of racing and bashing on 4S with a few times having fun on 6S so they are very durable. An original idea from Lincpimp and I thank you for it.

I can't remember if I mentioned how I install them in the bulkheads now, I shave down some material on the aluminum cases of the diffs so that leaves the bulkheads intact except for a small portion that has to be Dremeled to accommodate for the front of the diffs where the two screws are. Here's a few pics, I hope they are self explanatory. This way of doing it coupled with the diff blocks really holds up to some serious abuse.

Based on your mods.

I took 1 step futher and did a machined version of the LST-revo diff mod... Removing the exact amount of material to fit and un modified Bulkhead (but the bolt part)

Here´s and album of it.

I hope you like it!

mistercrash 03.31.2011 10:53 AM

That is one tight fit. Nice work on that molak.

Deahttub 03.31.2011 04:11 PM

Molak,

Amazing work! My xxl diffs look nothing like those! I have a cpl extra cases...how much would you charge to machine them like you did??

lincpimp 03.31.2011 04:14 PM

Very nice Molak, This is what I originally wanted to do. Bit I lack the machine tools, and cutting the plastic bulk is much easier for me.

I am sure those cases would sell like hotcakes...

molak 03.31.2011 05:57 PM

Since Im from Argentina shipping costs and import duties (50%!!) will make those cases expensive!

I'll check how much that case cost in the nearest losi dealer to get an aproximate. But any machinist can do those. Maybe Mike could make them ..

I'm one of those ...

btw: LST cases are made from a quite soft material and are injected, which makes them porous...

Yes those cases are not the best, but they are the only option I know of right now to have an 8th scale drive line in the E-Revo.

bullseye0169 04.07.2011 04:35 PM

Hey there...

Dude where did you get those brass inserts that you have used in the bulkhead???? I have a new bulkhead and found that some of the holes are striped right off the bat. I would really like to find those and put them in my truck... Thank you for your time...

molak 04.08.2011 12:53 AM

You should ask to Mistercrash.

But i think he used something like this

http://rtlfasteners.com/RC/655.html

mistercrash 04.08.2011 09:13 AM

Those could work Molak. The ones I used I found at Tower Hobbies. They are distributed by Dubro. They don't come with metric threads so I got some 4/40 brass inserts which I tapped with M3 threads and some 8/32 inserts which I tapped with M4 threads. A trick I use to screw the inserts in the plastic is to heat them a bit with the flame of a lighter or even a heat gun. I heat them up just enough so they are easier to screw in the plastic. I let it cool and then I can extract the screw that was used to insert the insert.

feistyacorn 04.08.2011 11:26 AM

Otherwise Tony's Screws has 4mm ones. Next time I order from him I was going to pickup a set. He has nice deals on very high quality hardware.

mistercrash 04.08.2011 11:53 AM

I tried the Tony Screws style inserts and after a couple started twisting in the plastic preventing me from removing the part, I went back to the screw style inserts.

Thanks for the heads up MC! I know what would solve our bulkhead issues.... the FLM combo bulk! Hopefully soon... :oh:

bullseye0169 04.14.2011 03:03 PM

I know a guy ovAlmer on a different site that is trying out the Integy Alum. bulkheads. He said that they are working well so far. Would be a first for Integy....

Moparmyway 07.04.2012 09:34 PM

I just got a new TQi receiver to replace my broken origional receiver. The origional one was from about 2 years back.

The problem is that the Traxxas TQ transmitter that used to be easy to bind to the older Traxxas receivers wont bind to the new TQi receiver

I pressed the "set" button and held it while I turned on the trans (and held it down) then I pressed the link button on the TQi receiver, and powered up the receiver (and held the button down). Both lights stay blinking for ever. They never go green and solid.

I tried letting go of the buttons when the lights flashed ............. still nothing
I tried receiver first ................. nothing
I tried transmitter first ............. nothing

anybody else have this problem ............... is it possible that the old 2.4 TQ transmitter wont bind to the new TQi receiver ?

suicideneil 07.05.2012 09:39 AM

http://traxxas.com/support/Traxxas-T...tibility-Guide

Looks like your old(er) TQ transmitter won't work with the TQi receiver I'm afraid, you're out of luck.

Moparmyway 07.05.2012 05:07 PM

Thanks for the link, that certainly explains it !!!

sleepy23 07.15.2012 11:11 PM

awesome thread.
i just picked up a erevo and have looked at a few of the pages and plan on working my way thru the entire thread to see what all is here and what has been done compared to what i am thinking about.
