Isn't adding all this weight with big motors and the corresponding battery weight going to add uneeded strain to a relatively small truck? I would think something like the MMp with a 1509, or Medusa 50-60 with some smaller 3000 4s setup would be better for this weight and style of vehicle. ( I don't know, I see 1515 and think 10lb plus vehicles :D )

"My Slash is a hair over 5lbs RTR."
I think with the components you list, your Slash is heavier than you think. The Ten T with a 4s 4200mah pack is about a pound heavier than my Slash 4x4 with a 2s 5000mah hard case pack(Slash comes in at 5lbs 14 oz RTR and is over 5lbs without a battery). This is in RTR form with the stock setup on the Slash 4 X 4 Platinum and the Tekin buggy combo and a 4s 4200mah 35c pack on the Ten T. The Slash has FLM suspension arms(total 1 oz than stock arms) and cvds(no other hop-up). I would guess the trucks would be within 1/2 pound or less of each other with similar components. |
Thanks for that info. That's really not to heavy.
I hadn't realised I shaved that much weight from my Slash. It was 4lbs 8 oz rtr with a HV4.5, and Xerun 80a, no battery. BTW Maybe I should clarify, that is my ST Slash, as pictured in post 285, with cut down bumpers, no rear body mount, shortened front mount, and a Crowd Pleazer body, IOW the one that is setup 10-T style :D It was weighed with a digital fish scale. |
Stop looking at your mailbox D$MM$T!

I know how you feel Bryan. Mike, is it safe to say I will be the first in Canada with your kit?

2 kits went to Canada on the same day - I guess whoever is closer to NY will get it 1st. :)

1 Attachment(s)
quick update on the 17mm hub conversion...the ofna 81175 's will fit but you have to drill out the center (1/4 drill bit) AND you have to grind down the back of the hub (about 1mm) so that the pin holes will line up....and it will look like this:
Attachment 8752 however, the threads on the hubs will only accept the threads on the wheel nuts that came with the set.....i have a set of losi/AE/and mugen 17mm hex nuts and they don't fit...seems like the thread on these hubs are wider... sooo....if you want to keep using your 17mm wheel wrench and not have to deal with a 14mm nut and a washer to keep the wheel in place....this modification is an option although the latter (17mm hex hub with 14mm nut and washer) is cheaper than the ofna hex hub mod...but the ofna one should be stronger... |

I got mine yesterday, installed it last night at work. I got to try it out today and it feels very close to my 8ight buggy. I do need to get some bolts to finish bolting everything down. Mike can you tell me what size and thread pitch the holes are on the parts you tapped and the inserts in the tray?
Other than needing to get these bolts, it looks like a great setup. thanks Mike:smile::smile: |
The motor mount uses m3 on the top and m4 on the bottom - the screws for these should have been included. The battery tray requires 3 m4 screws and 1 m3 screw, which should be available from the stock parts IIRC.

Well, i just checked the screws that came with the kit and the ones that came with the Ten-t and they are different. My ten-t has standard threads, not metric. All i need is the 4 that mount where the nitro motor mounts bolted down. No biggie i'll stop and pick up some bolts before the weekend.
