Not sure what you mean by 'rant', but..somehow RCM-rccalculator is like duracell-gillette. But its not my problem and hence, not a problem, at least not to you. I been on enuf forums to know ppl clench like fish in a barrel, and that the truth is more exception than rule. in other words im not surprised about who 'agree' with you, or BrianG. ..I did not mean to make ME the problem, to you as well.. I will as-is accept the rc calc., and anyways, it doesnt even matter if i accept it or not ;) I am HAPPY that i can use the 'software' for free man. well can-cannot accept.. i just have to accept it ;) which is quite ok then..im not expecting anybody to 'break free' on my wish. And will just add, that i do respect this forum, not only the calculator.. its still a very nice calculator any how. the best i have seen. Also I am happy brian added a few motors and gears that was relevant for me. -- doesnt matter to me if brian is respected on forum. maybe it matter to you. just suppose he is not ? i respect him by choice, regardless of what some majority do. i dont respect 'respected' persons just because. typical i dont have interest in majorities, but when it come to the calculator i guess i'd like universality etc. (okay, could be to cover own needs lol, but also to keep general usefullness broad/wide). i know its not my work, and my thought only to be mere suggestions. So i 'ranted' about that rc monster somehow become a foot lock around the calculator..imo the RCM shop needs some specs on whatever parts they got. Same reason I never bought any RCm parts, I dont liek to go with the WYSIWYG principle, i'd like to know what i get (and not read fora simply to just dust up that info) whats great is that its work in progress. like the calculator didnt stop years ago or something. i really appreciate that brian has effort to continue the excellent work. talk about saving time, the calculator is GREAT for saving time, and too, for planning builds, and explore potential options. pink panda. i have a pink panther on my desktop. just thought abt your nick ;) pink panda's must be close to extinction too lol. JK.. BrianG> btw, sorry if my ranting/suggestions got outta hand, as you know, me among other are always looking out for another good update. ii mean looking forward to, or ya know! |

Ben meaning to do it for a while, I dropped $10.00 into the donation box.
Your Calculator has ben a HUGE help over the last couple years, Thank You ! |
Thanks Bondo, it's appreciated!
Lol, maybe I should open a PP account to accept presidential campaign contributions? I'm telling you all right now, I would not make a good president: I have 0 tolerance for incompetance, not skilled at beating around the bush/lying effectively, and believe in less government. |
So your saying that in order to be a good president, we need an experienced liar that readily accepts incompetence in the process of over governing?! In politics, these are considered skills - in life, they are negative traits(IMO at least). Perhaps this is what is wrong with politics as a whole. I too would make a horrible politician based on these "qualities".
Oh well - if NOT being an incompetent, over governing liar is wrong, then i don't want to be right! :) |

Sounds perfect, You have my vote ! ! ! |
Do you need a Vice President?
I can start practicing at lying now. While this has grown brian. I glad to see all your hard work is been so useful. |
Could you add these tires?
Proline 2.2" rim Sand Paw 93.5mm/3.68" (with claws 108mm/4.25", http://www2.gpmd.com/imagel/p/lproc1052.jpg) Traxxas Talon 1/16 82.3mm/3.24" Could you add Tekin T8 motors on that list? |
Small update:
- Added the tires and Tekin motors. - Fixed a small bug in the data tables page. - Added a rollout ratio solver page. This is mainly for me for a future project. |
Brian, please add Losi Zombie Max, 3.2 (T/Emaxx), at 5.8" dia.
|

I see you've added these, but in the wrong order. The 'XXL 2nd gear FOC' has the 'XXL 2nd gear FOC swap mod' ratios and vv. |
Do you have measurements for the XXL tires? I've been putting in 7" for my gearing calculations but it would be nice to have an accurate measurement.
|
I don't know what the xxl's tire measurements are. Can't find them anywhere on the internet and I don't have them myself. I only have the losi sand tires and my guess is they're about 6.3" - 6.4".
|
XXL tires are the same as the ATX's at 6.75"
|
Another update:
- Fixed image URL in the battery resistance demo causing it to not display in FireFox. - Added copyright info at the bottom of the pages. - Added LED Calculator page (in Electrical category). - Added Losi XXL and ZombieMax tires. - Fixed error with "XXL 2nd gear FOC" and "XXL 2nd gear FOC swap mod" being reversed. |
did you plan on adding the new castle motors?
|
Thank You Brian, FYI the XXL tires are the exact same ones that come w/the LST2 and are called "ATX's" .

I'll tell you what, I've decided to let it slide just this once. Get back to work.
Thanks for all you do and supplying the Calc MrB ! |
would it be posible to start a "master spring chart" that includes EVERY spring made???
it would take a looong time, but once its done it would save loads of time:neutral: just to make it easyer on you, I think RCM users should be able to make changes/add springs without emailing you the specs organize by TC size, 1/10 truck/buggy, 1/8 buggy, and 1/8 truggy, and oddball(revo, etc) needed specs for springs lb/in and metric lenght IN and MM brand diamiter |
Brian,
How are you? I sent you an e-mail (To your hotmail address listed) about something cool that would be great for everyone. Do you know how much HP per ton your little R/Cs make? My BPP truggy made over 600HP per ton. While my Mr. C MBX5T has made over 1200HP per ton. Isn't breaking the 1000HP per ton a great achievement in the auto industry? Does this mean our little R/Cs (Many still consider them toys) are more efficient and advanced then the 1:1 available. Regards, Luciano. |

Emailing/posting the values is the only way for the data to get input into the calc because the whole calc is client-driven via jscript arrays. This is mostly so I can develop "offline" and people can download and use it without internet access. Having people add the values would require server-side code and would make it a whole lot more complex. Quote:
For HP per emperial ton: (HP/lbs)*2000 For HP per metric ton: (HP/kg)*1000 |
Brian,
Would it be possible to include the new Slash 4X4 in your Calculator ? |

|
Where would we be without your keen observation ??
Thanks Brian ! |
Update:
Due to my issue with the Ten-T spur; added gear pitch calculator (finds pitch with gear diameter and tooth count inputs) to the Gear Diameter Calculator page. Added Traxxas Slash 4x4 spur options and differential ratio. Added Losi Ten-T differential ratio. |
Your awesome Mr B., Thank You
|
Update:
Added a new page, Dogbone Dimension Table, to help users select a possible existing dogbone for custom setups. Currently, the only entry is a test entry just to have something there. Please post the values as shown in the page and I will add them. |
I don't know how you'd do it but a provision for shafts like the LST center shaft that have a CVD on one end would be nice.
Maybe the length from pin to grub screw and the size of shaft the CVD fits on? (8mm for LST) |
I love your site Brian! I got around to using your no-spark calculator on my e-bike. I got a HUGE spark with my 18s turnigys; now I get a lil tiny spark.
I used a tiny resistor off an old futaba tx board; I didn't expect it to work.... It worked perfectly! http://i345.photobucket.com/albums/p...h_S7302243.jpghttp://i345.photobucket.com/albums/p...h_S7302245.jpghttp://i345.photobucket.com/albums/p...h_S7302244.jpghttp://i345.photobucket.com/albums/p...h_S7302246.jpg http://i345.photobucket.com/albums/p...h_S7302248.jpghttp://i345.photobucket.com/albums/p...h_S7302249.jpghttp://i345.photobucket.com/albums/p...h_S7302250.jpghttp://i345.photobucket.com/albums/p...h_S7302251.jpg I only have one question/concern Should I have a diode wired in or disconnect my no-spark circut after I get the main leads plugged in? Someone on another forum suggested it saying my resistor would burn out if I left it plugged in. |
When you hook the main leads together, you are effectively bypassing the resistor so all the current flows through the main leads. The only way the resistor would burn up is if the main leads became disconnected during use and all the current tried to flow through the resistor. However, there are a number of reasons why this won't happen with anything larger than ~50 ohms, but won't get into that here. If you were using something like a 1-5 ohm resistor, then yes, there exists a chance it could burn out, but again, only if the main leads became disconnected.

Panda: Thanks for that info! I assume the LST1 and RC8T are CVDs, and the XTM is a true dogbone?
Looks like I'm gonna have to add a seperate center CVD and CVD axle sections or pages. Otherwise, those measurements won't make much sense when applied to the current dogbone picture. Does anyone have a good clear picture of a center CVD and an axle CVD? All of mine are in vehicles and are not in "picture condition". Ideally, a clear, large (bigger is better for me to edit), well-lit image with a white background. PM me if you have pictures and/or can take some and I'll supply my email addy to send them to. BTW: I am adding the following as a note to myself since my development PC is off and I don't feel like turning it on just for this: Ofna Hyper 7 F/R: D1: 97/104 D2: 90/97 D3: 4.8 D4: 3 D5: 7.9 D6: 12.7 |
it would also help to know what xtm those are from.
|
Quote:
Yes the xtm is a true dog bone and the others are cvd's. I'll attempt some photo's for you tonight but my photography isn't good :mdr: Quote:
