Uggh, the 5s 4000 is not going to fit without hanging off the side of the chassis. Looks like the highest mAh 4s pack is the 4000. Anyone know of any others that will fit?

Bye:018:

EDIT Woops! I meant 4s 5000mAh:eek: :024: :005:

Brian, thanks for the info on the pinions. I was thinking a 12 or 13 based on the other posts I've read. My motor is a 6400, but I also have a 4300 if the 6400 runs too hot. Are those pinions available from RC-Monster and are they a direct fit for a 10th scale motor (Mamba/Novak)? If not available from RC-M then were might I find them?

Thanks, Scott

[QUOTE=BrianG@GO-RIDE.com: Welcome to the forums! I'm not familiar with the GTB systems, so I can't really offer advice. I was running 16T pinion and was getting some overheating using a MM and 4600 motor on 2s. I have 12T, 13T, and 14T hardened pinions coming (hopefully today) so I should be able to find the sweet spot with one of those. I'm thinking the 13T will be the ticket.

Complaining about not being able to fit a 5S 4000mAh pack on a vehicle this small is comparable to someone complaining that a big block V8 won't fit on their bicycle. :027:

The hardened MOD1 pinions that Mike sells are a 5mm bore. You'll need one of the bore reducers at the bottom of this page to fit them on your Novak motor:

LOL! :005:

@GO-RIDE: Mike has the hardened pinion in the store right now. Just go to the gears page, scroll down to the Mod1 5mm bore pinions, and open the drop-down list. You will also need the 5mm to 1/8" bore adaptors. For these, scroll down to the botton of the "RC Monster parts" page.

EDIT: Skellyo beat me to it...

@Cemetary: lol, no, I don't think 4s will fit. You'd have to have it haging off the side. But 3s should fit with careful tray fabrication. My tray sits so about 1mm away from the spur so I have options should I decide to go with 3s later.

Does anyone know the gear ratios or overall gear ratio of the stock CRT.5?

Scott

BrianG 06.11.2007 07:41 PM

I think they use a 14T pinion, but don't hold me to that. You really can't compare the stock nitro ratio with BL though...

BrianG 06.11.2007 10:18 PM

Well, got the pinions in today and have the CRT.5 up and running! YAY! Temps are much better, but still a little hot. But maybe that's because I put regular 2.2" wheels and Proline snake-eyes on it. :) It looks so much more like a truggy now though, and the extra ground clearance is nice.

I meant 4s 5000mAh:024:, and well when I get the CRT.5 it's gonna get a 10L running on 3s-4s.POWER!!!!!!!!!!:mad:1

Nice, we need some new pics!

No can do. It's dirty now. Looks the same as before, just with bigger tires. :)

I was wondering when someone was going to do the full truck wheels. The Losi pro at my local track said it would handle poorly due to the wheels being to close together (short chassis), but I'd still like to try it for rough backyard tracks or bashing. Post some pics when you can.

What pinion did you settle on?

BrianG 06.12.2007 01:07 AM

It seems to handle better in the backyard due to more tire area touching the ground. And it looks better too. :) Since I'm running large tires, I used the 12T pinion. For track use, I'll probably go with the stock size for cooler running.

I'm looking for the diff ratios to calculate the final drive ratio. Novak uses a formula (Trans x Spur)/Pinion = 11.0 for a 6.5 in a 1/10 off-road buggy. Due to the 4X4 and greater weight of the CRT.5 I was thinking of 12 or 13.

I can't seem to find the diff ratios in the owners manual. Any help out there with this formula?

BrianG 06.12.2007 01:14 AM

Take a look at the first link in my sig. All the hard work has already been done. :dft012:

Your beat me to my next question. I bought a regular steel 32p 13T today for testing with the buggy sized wheels. That should be good with my high KV (6400) motor.

I guess I need to get fabricating tomorrow. I need a motor and battery mount. I'd like to buy the motor mount on this site, but I'm not sure it will be stiff enough for the steel spur to pinion interface?
