I did it! I just ordered the Kershaw Design LCG chassis. Now I wait... In the meantime, here's a well made movie from jetlag2222 who bought the chassis and installed it, tried it and made a nice review on it.

my stock shafts have begun to break

What axle shafts have you gone to, which is the best ?

they resisters measured in ohms...this will ultimately tell us how much they will draw. but they have a wattage rating!! volts goes up, amps comes down, same watts achieved.

All the shafts are good (except Integy) as long as you have a good slipper that is well adjusted to protect them. I tried the stock sliders and the Summit shafts. The sliders snap and twist more easily. The Summit shafts don't snap or twist as easily but every part wears out quicker than the sliders and become full of slop. The sliders die quickly, the Summits die a slow and painfull death :lol: It's all in the slipper from my experience, if you don't have one on your ride, rig one up or stock up on spare shafts.
Once you have a good slipper to protect your drive train, it will be better. But there is no getting around the fact that we run with very powerful power plants. We have ways to prevent the shafts from snapping at every burst of the trigger, but whatever shafts you use, even with a good slipper, they will wear out faster. Especially when using 1/10th scale parts for a 1/5th scale application.

My son's name is Gabriel. So Gabriel's ERBE will be named ''GERBE'' :smile:

So I started work on GERBE a week ago and basically broke down the build into 5 phases.

Phase 1: Rear end assembled and mounted on chassis.
Phase 2: Front end assembled and mounted on chassis
Phase 3: Tranny, Motor, Slipper mounted on chassis.
Phase 4: Electronics (ESC, servo, receiver, receiver box) mounted on chassis.
Phase 5: Finalizing odds and ends and painting a body.

I got done with phase 3 today. This will be a full blown basher at the lowest speed possible. Spool in the middle, no CD there. High ride height, no sway bars. Turnigy 2S2P LiFe batteries, 68 spur, 17 pinion. The settings of the ESC will be very mild. The speed calculator says a little over 23 mph. I think it is still too fast for a five year old so I will set the transmitter's throttle down to maybe 60%. I'm looking for 15/16 mph. Maybe even less. If a ten pound truck traveling at 15 mph hour hits my boy in the legs, it will hurt but I don't think it will break bones. It could be very dangerous for him if the truck was coming at 40 mph.
For the body, I still don't know what I'll get him. I thought of the Proline Baja Bug but the rear end is weak. Maybe a Proline Slipstream. Or I thought that for a little boy, a real truck body would be cool and he would like it, like the Proline Ford F650 body.

If you're gonna run a MMM, you can set the throttle limit on the ESC, as I heard doing it on the TX could be bad, but that might just be hearsay

well I've been looking at wheels and tires and the choices are numerous. Then I thought it would be nice to stop spending money on this little project (at least for now) and I decided to use a set of new Panther Pythons mounted on Traxxas dish wheels that I already have in my arsenal. The problem I find with this is that dish wheels are boring so I will attempt to dress them up with decals I will print using my laser printer and sticky white vinyl sheets. I put the first design I came up with on a pic of the dish wheels in question. I know it's not as good as the funky cool looking chrome wheels out there but it should be fine for starters.
