Always read the forums but never posted...
Anyways, I have a 3s 4900 20C Rhino battery and when I charge it it only takes in about 1500 -1700 mah after I ran. I charged the lipo up again and ran it to about 11 volts where it started to slow down. The second time I charged it was on a hyperion that I borrowed to check the cells. It was fully balanced at the end of the charge. I ran it this time and it did the same thing. I was told to charge the individual cells and the mah added up to around 4500 but I did not run until cutoff and it only charged to around 1500-1700 mah again. What a mouthful, but do any of you guys know what is going on? Thanks, Zach |
Hmm, sounds like you have a bad cell on that rhino pack. Can you set your lvc to 3.2v per cell and give the pack a full run till the lvc kicks in? If the charger only puts back 1700mah that is all you have used, not even half of the pack...

I did not mention that but it has always been set to 3.3 volts per cell. I ran it to cutoff the run before it only charged this much.
|
When I charged it it does not even start charging at 4.9 amps like my other batteries do. It starts at about 4.2

You must have a bad cell. It is dropping voltage badly, and letting the pack voltage get low enough so that the lvc kicks. I can pull the bad cell out, or at least test the pack, but it may be cheaper/easier to just buy another pack, those packs are about 40 bucks new...

I have a neu energy pack that should be here tomorrow but I was just seeing what could be wrong. I figured it might have had a bad cell. I have only had it since january and have only charged it about five times a week sometimes not using it some weeks.

hey linc i got that 5s zippy 5000 pack h pack u fixed for me but my application in the muggy is too much for it and i puffed a cell pretty good it goes away but after i charge it and run it i comes right back and the pack is running hot, but i have a 10th scale staduim truck i was wondering what it would cost just to split the pack into 2 2s packs as im going to need a good pack for the muggy which has been almost bombproof on 5s but am looking to get a 1900kv motor rather than the 2200 and run 6s for less strain on the system

Linc,
your pretty good with soldering..(duh:)) and i was wondering if you knew how they made these...and if it could be done with the existing male/female plugs i have..... http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXNKY8 |

do you use plasti-dip to insulate the joints as well???
|
I made some adaptors similar to that and I just use hotglue to insulate them. Doesn't look the best, but works well. If it can't be fixed with duct-tape, then hotglue is the next best thing.
|
Yep, as long as it insulated and doesnt allow shorting out, then it doesnt matter how ugly it is.
|
+1 on hotglue. I used epoxy for the first deans parallel adapter and it was a bitch to keep it where I wanted it to stay, kept running out. I like hot glue for various projects, especially sticking wheel weights on, works like a champ for that.
