If the money isn't problem, which I don't think (just looking your truck :whistle:). Then some 30C lipos should do the job. Maybe fp packs 2x11,1v series? Dunno what are you now running, but those looks very big 8000mah?

and a quick update. I changed the gearing to 46/12, so its now geared for around 58mph without any tyre ballooning. the extra speed is really awesome and it sounds like a jet when it comes past now, im thinking of making a kind of splitter from a crt.5 wing for the front, as i can see it starting to lift. I was quite surprised, the truck seems to run better at this gearing, the motor and batts are cooler, with the frequency of the MMM fan coming on about the same. Mind you its been cooler here the last couple of days. I took it out this morning for a run and the temps were:

motor: 100-110 (got upto 140 right towards the end after 5-6 speed passes)
batts: 80-90
ESC: 110-120 (fan kept coming on, but went off after about a minute, same old story)

The only trouble im having now is keeping the tyres on the rims, last run i pulled the bowties off of the Wabash's. i reglued them really well, so this morning only half of one of the fronts came unglued :intello:

Unfortunately i dont think there'll be many updates on the truck from now on, im going to strip it down and clean it in the next couple of days, as i leave for 'college' on wednesday. Probably wont run it until June when im home for holidays. Any tips for storing the lipos for that long, they are at about 60-70% charge now, i was just going to leave them in the liposack?

As for the tires I mentioned to you before that the only way you will come close to keeping those on the rims is to get you a set of Axial Beadlock rims. (http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXPEJ4) These are the black ones, but they also have black chrome, Chrome, and white. Then you have to change your hex's to 17mm (http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...1p?&I=LXXE06)m which fit directly onto the 6mm stub shafts. I also have a Thread that tells you how to setup your wheels for taping and balancing for higher speed runs. (http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14978). Once you do these tasks you should be good to go for some really high speed runs.

As for the Lipos I would just charge them up to 100% and store them in a good metal case in the garage or some place cool. I have had two sets stored for over a year and they are still holding a full charge voltage wise.

I'm not having luck with my axial beadlocks. They are constantly losing the bead, and now the inner lip is crushing just like the pro-line beadlocks did. My maximizers are still holding...........

Thanks Harold for sharing the experience on the Axial beadlocks. Mybe we can try some thin double sticky tape under teh locking ring to hold the tire in?? Just trying to think of a solution since the beadlocks are such a great idea.

I'm trying clear silicone. It sucks, I like the axials. The inside ring the beadlock screws thread into is cracking off as well. High speed passes would hold up, but i do a lot of bashing and powersliding.

The silicon is just too flexible not to mention messy. If you can get your hands on some double sticky tape like carpet tape it is not only easy to work with, but comes off a lot easier when you want it to. Just put a strip of it around the metal ring so it will help keep the tire in place. I am doing the same with my wheels, as I now have 4 sets of the Axial brand, with another set on the way. Let me know how things work out for you.

@kcaz: the halfcase just went straight together with the tranny :neutral: sorry about not selling it separately, i know alot of people are looking for a strobe setup in good condition, but i doubt i could have sold the tranny without a slipper.

So ive hooked the MGM back up, just for some fun, and took it out for a quick run the other day, not long enough for any video though :eyes:. After a few passes the ESC was upto around 145 F, and thats when i stopped running. Both hthe motor and the batts stayed cool. I thought that the higher rated MGM would have run cooler than the MMM? :neutral: Its geared for about 58mph at the moment, would gearing it more towards 45mph theoretically bring the temps down?

For 5s lipo (it was 5s still?), gearing for about 40-45mph is plenty.

I would have thought the whole setup could manage alot more than that without getting hot, but... escs are funny things.
