LOL... yep, the switch had been "86'd"

I should get a pic of the way I wired a UBEC in one of mine. It really cleans up the wiring and eliminates the "dual" wires going to the rx. (just one set of wires for both esc and ubec...

Hey, I might have a solution, sorta... for the plastic gear/mugen diff. I don't have a mugen diff to try it though. I have an outdrive and matching spider/cone gear that works with the Kyosho gear.... and I think it would work with a Mugen diff.

If it doesn't work right with the Mugen parts, I'll check into two other options. One is a complete diff assembled with the Kyosho gear, bearings... a ready-to-go drop in replacement for a good price. The other is a modified Kyosho gear made to fit a Mugen diff.

That's cool. Let me know what you find.

I thought about just getting the Kyosho spur and seeing what I could do with it. :mdr:

So, any news?

glassdoctor 03.22.2008 11:51 AM

I want to find out if "my" parts work with the mugen diffs. I know it will fit, but the spider gears may not mesh correctly, and the diff won't feel smooth. None of my racing buddies has a Mugen to actually try it.

How many teeth is the Mugen bevel cone gear? (the one on the outdrive/spur shaft)

If it's 20 teeth, I think it will work... so I'll just send you guys an outdrive and matching cone gear to try.

Man, I had the "maiden" voyage today! :mdr:

I don't have my battery pack yet, but I just had to throw one of my 6 cell sxs E-Maxx packs in there to see if it would run.

HOLY JESUS!!!! This thing is as fast as my Brushless E-Maxx on 8.5 to 8 volts!

I can't wait to get my battery pack. It's on the way somewhere in the mail. I made the mistake of ordering it on Wednesday afternoon before a Friday holiday.

I didn't really notice a whole lot of metal on metal spur noise. I guess once I get my real battery I'll know for sure. If it's no louder than what I heard today I can live with it. I'm sure a plastic or Delrin spur would be much quieter but it's not that bad. I expected much worse from all the talk about it.

macr0w 03.24.2008 11:40 PM

My God!!! :surprised:

That's about all I can say!

Coming from an E-Maxx with a Novak 6.5 running IB 4200's, I don't think I had any idea what I was getting myself into. This thing is STUPID fast!!!!!

I know Supra will be happy. I guess the Road Rages weren't meant to be on this vehicle. :na:

A couple of runs across the front of the house for a test and I threw a shoe. :mdr:

We know the feeling, LOL!!! These things make you grin every time, esp if you haven't run it for while... never gets old.

macr0w 03.25.2008 12:42 PM

I'm going to take a new picture tonight when I get home from work. Wait till you see my on/off switch I put on your esc. It looks different from this picture I just posted. :mdr:

macr0w 03.25.2008 10:15 PM

Check out the on/off switch. :mdr:
She should be ready to rip now. Maybe these tires will stay on the rims. :mdr:

HOLY JESUS! I had my first real maiden run today. I got my charger in the mail today and got my pack fully charged and balanced. I fired this baby up and put her down in the road and let her rip a few times back and forth. The speed is INSANE!!!

Look at what it did to my tires. The insert came out of this little hole. The beads did not break but the tread is toast. :mdr:

That's just 4 or 5 times back and forth in front of my house.

cart213 03.29.2008 08:26 PM

What weight fluid are you running in the center diff? It looks like the power is unloading heavily to the front, based on the front vs. rear tire wear. I suggest using a thicker fluid in your center diff.

macr0w 03.29.2008 08:49 PM

Well, one major problem was that the front tires were in the air alot and they were ballooning out like crazy. :mdr:

Arct1k 03.29.2008 09:50 PM

put some 30k in the centre diff and should be a lot more driveable...

macr0w 03.30.2008 02:43 PM

Video!!

I posted this on rc-tech as well. Just testing her out. If I can get my tires to stay together I think it'll be ok. :mdr:

Very nice spot to run. You should contact RC Car Action to have the Speed Challange over there.
