Just tried running 14 NIMH cells. The problem is that i'm having real bad acceleration and brakes, also cogging is BEYOND horrible...anybody know what's up?
|
did you change the MM settings to nimh battery ?
|
Yep I changed the cutoff...
|
if you are running an AM radio that could be a major problem
|
I'm running DSM.
Tried again with 12 cells. Cogging isn't as bad, but now the ESC is heating up to 130 degrees after one speed pass?? Acceleration and braking is still a problem also! This doesn't make sense. Never had mystery problems like this before. Motor is running real cool, and the batteries are fine ... |

Anybody know?? |
Hot ESC often times means over-geared... what gearing are you running at the moment?
|
13T pinion and stock spur...46T maybe? Whatever the stock mugen spur is....
Honestly if anything this is undergeared. It wasn't doing this before when I was running the 4S lipo. The speedo after running out the 4S lipo had a max temp of 140degrees, and that was after 20 minutes of running. |
A poor connection, perhaps? Do you use connectors or direct solder?
|
I use deans. They seem like they are in good condition..?

UPDATE
Got the MM problems worked out. I changed the timing to low and start power at low...now it runs pretty good on 12 cells, just not very fast or much power. It could be a good qualifying setup though when lipos aren't available. Got a package today from dafni with a kick ass body and fan for my MM!! can't believe how well this thing is painted. It's my first "real" authentic custom painted body. All i've had before this was stockers and single schemes. DAFNI IS DA MAN!! Also made a slighly cleaner layout. I'm using a modified cardboard box (from the Feigao motor) as my battery mount. Pretty ghetto but hey, it works(sorta kinda), and it was free. I use tape to keep the batteries in LOL. Man is sounds so much worse once I type it on the computer screen lmao. http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h2...2/DSC08222.jpg http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h2...2/DSC08223.jpg http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h2...2/DSC08224.jpg http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h2...2/DSC08225.jpg Peace |
One question..
What size screws will work for mounting a fan... |
I used 3mm self tapping screws to mount the fan to my MM ESC.
|
Decided to mount the fan/MM a different way. cut out a piece of spare plastic and mounted to the diff. then took a piece of the "nitro" center diff mount to screw the fan into. Works out alot better than i initially thought. WOW this fan makes a difference.
