Brian G, a 1509 would be awesome in this truck. I run a 1509/1.5Y on 4s in my Revo (w/ 2 speed) and it's a super fast and light setup. A 1506 may even work for the Slayer.

As for weight, figure MT tires are 2lb total. These new tires are probably less than half that (all rotating mass too). The smaller arms, 2.5 chassis, smaller motor and battery and I think we have a ~6lb 4WD truck that will run circles around just about anything.

I looked at this some more and I see no reason why the RCM and Tekno kits shouldn't fit.

One more thing, I like the scale tires and wheels and all, but buggy tires and wheels are pretty much the same size. Converting to 17mm hubs will allow you to run different tread patterns for racing if needed. Damn this truck is going to be awesome!

I wonder if it could be used to race in 1/8 buggy class , I seriously want a E-slayer :/ . I think running it on 3S might work too

The pricing seems a little high in my opinion though. I would think losing the optidrive, two servos, and substituting the centers for the regular drive shafts not to mention the shorter chassis etc etc that the pricing would be sub 400.

It sure gives a different meaning to ugly..

I'm almost there...

I was debating between the rusty vxl and the e-revo about 2 months ago. I went with the e-revo because I wanted 4 wheel drive. :oh:

The vehicle I am looking for is the 4wd electric truck in the rustler/slash/slayer size. :yipi:

maybe i'll sell my e-revo and convert the slayer...

I read on TRX it has some different gearing for the tire size in the tranny and the TRX center diff wont fit any more??

BrianG 07.10.2008 12:12 PM

If the tranny case is the same, you could just stuff regular Revo gears in there...

bruce750i 07.10.2008 12:36 PM

I don't care for the CD any ways just some new gearing options.

BrianG 07.10.2008 01:37 PM

I just looked at the exploded views for the Slayer tranny and the gear tooth counts for 1st and 2nd gears and for close/std/wide ratios are the same as the regular Revo. The only difference is the intermediate and output gear (#5996), which is not listed on buytraxxas.com yet, and the parts list on the Slayer page is not available yet either.

TexasSP 07.10.2008 04:15 PM

I just checked the part numbers and also found out the chassis is not the 2.5 revo chassis. The slayer chassis part number is 5922 while the 2.5 revo chassis part number is 5322. It looks as though the slayer chassis is slightly shorter.

BrianG 07.10.2008 04:26 PM

I wonder if the part # discrepancy is simply because the Slayer chassis color? The 2.5 and Slayer chassis looks the same otherwise...

lincpimp 07.10.2008 04:31 PM

Look at the 2.5 revo specs and see if the wheelbase is the same as the slayer...

BrianG 07.10.2008 04:45 PM

I don't wanna!

Bloody odd if you ask me - 5mm difference - why bother!

original revo wheelbase was 12.5" and th Slayer is 12.7". Thats close enough for me to think its just the 2.5 revo chassis painted a different color. I actually hope it is. It will have ready made conversion kits for it then.

jhautz 07.10.2008 05:13 PM

The slayer has exploded views up now. Looking at the exploded view next to the original revo exploded view it looks like the identical chassis to me. I'm just about positive the revo conversions will bolt right on.

Damn it.... It looks like I just might have to get me one of these now. It just looks like a fun truck. I just hope that someone comes up with a way to make some sort of mud guard for the wheels on this thing. The body covering the wheels looks like it will make a big mess inside this thing. Normally the body helps keep the junk out of the chassis, this body setup looks like it will collect the dirt onto the chassis.

Maybe some sort of simple aftermarket under shell that will cover the chassis more tightly would be a good idea.
