imo the price is just too low... i would have preferred a $250 controller which was bullet proof not a $150 controller with issues... even still i cant wait to get mine :)

I'm still running a MMMv1 (haven't run it since may-june) and I just removed the fan and cut the top off the case. We'll see how it does once I start racing with it again.

Dude, there is no way I am keeping the MMM is modding it is required for it to operate properly. That's totally obsurd.

'm all for modding stuff to make it do stuff it wasn't intended to do, but that's a different kinda thing.

Having to hold my new ESC's hand while it crosses the street is pretty much the opposite that I am after.

I agree, it's like the Quark, or was it MGM, that needed the FETs sanded and a RCM heatsink and fans to function. It was rated for 6s but couldn't do it very well without mods or with mods for that matter. That IS absurd. The MMMv2 seems to be plug and play so far. There has only been 2 failures so far and 1 was user error.

look at the mm tho, 120 and performs flawlessly, i am sticking to those, no point in going 5-6s for racing

That wouldnt be the esc killing the batts directly though would it, that would be the ends of the wires touching and shorting, but the odds of them staying jammed together like that for more than a split-second are pretty slim.

As for the escs durabilty- just stick a zip tie around the case and that stops it from coming apart (as I found out). Mount it low as possible on the vehicle and you'll be fine.

My v2 appears to be working flawlessly. I will race it this week and see if it holds up. My 3rd v1 has done very well with no fan. I have raced the bejeezus out of it with no problems.

I do think Castle over thought this ESC. The regular MM worked flawlessly. I would have just took the regular Mamba and made it for 5s with the internal BEC and been done with it. Heck, 4s with an internal BEC would have been fine for most people. I also think most of the people buying these would have spent up to $300 for a flawless ESC. Cutting corners for a low price is nice for to attract the bashers, but I don't think that is who is really buying these right now.

Nevertheless, I love my MMM from a performance standpoint. Most of the mods I have made to mine are to improve durability so it can handle the jarring impacts from constant racing. I think the this is where they dropped the ball. It is fine for street bashing and flying across fields, but the design isn't really cut out for 1/8 scale racing.

Even with all the flaws, the customer service is next to none. I am a happy customer.

I was referring more to the design... fan and case breakage.

if you secure the esc good you will not have any problems. I have flown my savage at least 12 feet high if not higher and i am still on the v1. Now the v1 im sure is just luck but the case holding up is because i secure it well. My fan is also perfectly fine.

You seem to have confused the fact that the MMM, old or new, or ANY esc for that matter can melt into a blob, for no apparent reason, at any time- par for the course, with the fact the esc case isnt all that secure. Like I said, just use a zip-tie and mount it somewhere suitable on the chassis that isnt going to course it to get damaged if you land on your lid. Not always easy, but then again, if there are other escs out their, like schulze, MGM and Quark- they have all been known to go into meltdown sometimes too, some more often than others. Have faith. And this isnt just a forum- its the friendliest, most knowledgable forum around...

Mine was waiting at work for me this morning. I popped the case open and my fan wires are not pinched, there is a bit of extra room for them to move around a bit too. I can not wait to go home, fire up the soldering iron and get it running.
