They are, the 2650 is 1512 size, and thats around 2500kv :P I think its basically made as a 4s buggy motor. Thats certainly my plan for it anyway lol A hair under 40k on 4s, and a hair under 50k on 5s - would be good for both I'd say. I heard somewhere that in general neus have their super efficiency up to just over 50k rpm.

Yeah part of testing, that was the best one I think. In another post he said they didn't generally make it past about 90k I think... can't quite remember :P

I am defenitly getting the CC/NEU 1512 (2650Kv) when it arrives...... it should be really nice on 4S..... Just curious on the price....

I've heard a lot of people bashing the cms36 series motors. I personally run a 6900 on 3s in a 5lb rustler geared to 67mph so far and the motor barely gets warm on speed runs of course. Off road and tearin about on 2s geared low, it does heat up some, but the esc always heated up more than the motor for me. Highest I've gotten on the motor itself is 160s I believe, esc shot deep into the 200s a time or two, I've since added a fan and bec to help, now it stays really cool. But I dont know why people are so quick to pass off those motors as junk. Sure they run hotter than your average motor, but they can take it as well. Probably not the right place to argue this, but just wanted to tell my experience with a high kv motor from castle.

I had an old ss5800 and then I upgraded to the mamba 7700. There is no comparison between these motors. The ss5800 was slightly better than an 8 turn motor on 7 cells (which I know you are not supposed to do, but at the time its all I could do for some speed kicks). It also didnt take much for the novak speed controller to shut down on overheating and this was in a graphite duratrax evader that weighed next to nothing geared for around 35mph. the ss5800 split my tranny in 2 pieces though.
The 7700 was by far more powerful even geared down, which I did have to do in my next vehicle which was a Rustler in order to keep temps down on my nimh batteries I was running at the time. Problem I had with the 7700 combo was the controller getting too hot for my liking as I dont like anything to go over 170. Gearing down did the trick though, but again the power of this combo vs the ss5800 on this vehicle was very noticeable. With the 7700 I could smoke the tires on demand, which was not possible on the ss5800 combo. What I have found with the MM controllers is if you want to go over 35mph just go 3S with a lower kv motor. This will keep temps down on the controller. Otherwise I added a fan to my 7700 combos and that worked great keeping the temps on the controller down. |
