I've seen E50, quite nice, but not really mentioned for cars. Question is if we put this increased torque and power on loose ground or we just spin wheels faster not moving forward?

The E40 are marketed for cars and the E50 is just the big brother for 1/8 scale and it's a 4 pole design. I made a video of my MBX5T that I drove on a very loose surface and I was still able to pop wheelies on demand. I've learned a long time ago, that throttle control is very important in a electric vehicle since you get all the torque needed from start ups.

You actually have the 1/8 scale ESC? I was supposed to get one to test, but Hobbywing said they had a problem with them. Things just keeps getting better. Did you get it from Hobbywing or a dealer? Keep us posted on how it does.

are there a 80amp version of this esc to ? Because i have seen pics of an hobbywing esc that only could handle 80amp cont ? and 6s lipo ? The come with a brushless 1/8 buggy from casterracing !

I was supposed to get the 150A 6S version, but I've heard of a few problems that HW has to take care of, but I'll have to see as I keep getting only good news lol. Caster went with the 80A 4S and HW said that's all they need.

when you say germans, we have a company called "flyware" here in germany, which produce industrial Brushless motors as well as for hobby use. they are pretty popular at the heli and raceboat guys.

and they have up to 8 poles, like the max650 shark20. the big graupner inline 700 (for boat use) used to be a flyware. and they're not expensive, and known to have good efficiency. I will buy one i guess.

4 or 8 poles are great for car use due to the torque, as the motors are often used in "not-full-throttle", and therefore the 2 pole motors are not so good as they tend to get hot. the only problem could be with the esc, as 8 poles mean more work for the esc then 2 pole.

but, the flyware's are not as good looking as some of the chinese ones. but they work well. :smile:

When Hobbywing mentioned the 8 pole I was a bit surprised, but I told them 4 pole is plenty. I showed the videos I have with 4 and 6 pole motors and they liked it. I was looking at the Flyware a few days ago and they have some nice motors. I really don't know why Hobbywing is having difficulties finding companies in China that will do a motor for them. I have a few sources, but I'm not going to share them :lol:.

If it's me let me explain. Before when Hobbywing only had their aircraft ESCs, I contacted them to see if they could make me a car ESC. At that time they said no. I kept asking and finally they decided to make one and asked for advice. I told them it would be nice to have a sensored/sensorless ESC and a program card. I told them the settings the ESC would have and when they made it I got the first sample to test out. After that I found out that they had a deal with Speed Passion to sell the Xerun line under their brand. After that I couldn't sell them here anymore. I even asked them to make my own ESC that would be completely different, but no go. I also gave them the idea for the program box they'll be coming out with in the Ver. 2. Hobbywing is funny though. I guess they were having trouble selling their line the eZRun and asked me to find some drivers locally to run the systems and post things in rctech.net, well I found the drivers, but they don't like how Hobbywing is treating me and they are waiting for my ESCs so they can use them. Hobbywing asked me if I knew any manufacturers that could make 4 or 6 pole motors and I told them that I know a few, but I was only going to give them one source. They asked me that after they saw me running my Recoil with my 4 pole motor. Now I might just move on and if HW wants to do the things I ask them then I'll be more helpful.

The hacker E50 L seems to be an interesting candidate for a HV Truggy/MT. I found a post on rctech.net where Steve Neu mentioned they are built in China.
