Just a slight misunderstanding. An RCM forum member goes by the handle "plettenbergs". He has a maxxler chassis, as far as I know there are only two in the world. He took said chassis to a machinist to have made, and I'm on the short list to receive one! Info about the chassis can be found here:http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15663

Nice rigs Jerry!

JERRY2KONE 11.30.2008 05:52 PM

Thanks.

Thank you DickyT. It is nice to finally be able to share what I have built up with everyone. Acquiring them and building them up has been quite an experience for me, but letting everyone else see them is pretty cool. I know we are all on some kind of quest, but I feel like I am trying to make up for many years of wanting this hobby as a part of my life. I have a lot of lost time to make up for, and now having the boys here with me makes it even more special for me.

Thanks Harold for clearing that one up. I just sent Matt a PM as well now that you showed that to me. I remember you pointing that chassis out to me once before, but I did not know that he was having some made. That is a very cool chassis, and it will make a nice addy to our collections.

You are on the list...do you want VBS or standard bulk-head version?

JERRY2KONE 11.30.2008 10:37 PM

Thanks.

Thanks Matt:yes:. The standard Maxx bulk kit will work fine for me. I like using the RCM hybrid bulks with the HPI lightning hardened diff gear setup. Any word on when you can expect the finished product? I know it is out of your hands so to speak, but will it be in the New Year, sooner, or even later? My birthday is 07/Feb.....:intello: I can get the money at any time, but if I have an advance ball park time estimate I can keep from making other purchases so as to keep the money handy:whistle:. Buying R/C gear is a none stop thing for me.

Is this your own custom design, or did you pick this up from someone else that made it? I may have missed it, but I have not seen anything explaining exactly where this chassis came from to start with. I remember seeing it a little while back and I was instantly impressed with the layout of your truck. I am not a big fan of carbon fiber R/C parts. All though it does look pretty cool, I prefer metal parts in my trucks for strength and durability. If it has to have some carbon fiber in it, then I will just have to make aluminum copies of those parts. If there is any way to get all aluminum that would be great to.

Thanks for the assistance Matt with getting this one of a kind setup reproduced, and into our hands. This is a cool thing you are doing. A lot of guys will be greatful:yipi:, and even more will be jealous once that door is closed.:na:

Your Maxx trucks look amazing Jerry. Glad to hear you're all settled in Korea and ready to have some fun with your boys and toys. Keep us posted on anything you change on the trucks.

JERRY2KONE 11.30.2008 10:50 PM

Thanks Jnev

Yeah I have a few things in the works right now, but like anything getting the parts actually in hand is the trick:eyes:. These things can take a while to come together sue to shipping, vendors, and $$$. I hope to have two of them in testing shortly after New Year if all goes as planned:wink:. The UE Lightning Maxx will be my 6/8-s high speed project and the Fastlane/RCM truck will be my unstopable track/bash/crusher vehicle. The fun never stops at the Hill house.
:gasp:

Update

I didn't feel like starting a new thread for this, so I am posting up a few updated photos of two of my trucks. The first is going to be a few shots of my UE Lightning with the double monoblock installed. I have a Hardcore tranny mounted just to dry fit the very long driveshaft and to make sure that it fits. SInce this rig is going to be setup to run high speeds I am hoping to put one of Mike's new Maxx center diff mounts and an HPI lightning hardened diff set on this one. I also have Axial beadlocks with taped Roadrage tires fully balanced on this one. Anyway here are the most recent pics.

2nd one

The second one is an RCM rig with the V-twin Dewalt 970 power plant for bashing. I have it all torn down for final assembly and locktite work. I have hardened steel pins comming for the hinge pins this week, and I hope to have it ready for testing next week.

Just because I have had the setup since I started building this Maxx, and I do not want to waste it. Why not?? Yea Yea I know BL is better and more efficiant, but this is paid for an it should be a lot of fun to play with. Some guys have done this setup and have had fun with it, so why not try it out? If I am not happy with it, or when I am tired of playing with it I will change it over to one of my BL setups. All in good time right?

If I could find a suitable replacement for the right price that is actually available, then I may change things up, but I have two sets of MSR8's already here and paid for. There are so many other things to spend money on that are at the top of my list, so shocks are the least of my worries right now. Finding something that actually fits the build, has a reasonable price, and is actually out there for purchase is the problem. They will just have to work for now.

plettenbergs 01.28.2009 07:59 PM

hey Jerry...do the hybrid bulks have fioroni diffs?...i have some as backups and the drive cups look the same as mine!!!...cha-ching!!
