had a a few days of practice and one race and only $230, but nvm i just asked him about it for you and he sold it this morning.... they are very nice though, but if i was buying new i wouldnt pay the extra $75 for one over a lazer sp or a b44.

Forgot all about the D4. I would DEFINITELY get the D4 over most others. For me, it would be the B44 FT, D4 WCC, or the Losi XXX-4 Graphite plus. Major deciding factor is parts availability. I'd honestly lean toward the D4 WCC though. HB makes good stuff.

Truck wise I would go with a xxx-t. I have one and race it and I LOVE IT! I've driven T4 and I still love the way the xxx-t jumps, and handels. Its durability is amazing. I've driven down our local tracks straight and been bumped into the I beam and have driven away.
Just my .2 |
thats funny, cus actually today, i thought about getting a 1/10 buggy not ST
as well. but i want a older model just cus its cheaper. i was looking at a AE b3 or the XXX bk .but after reading linc's and squeeforever, i may just go with the losi. but what worried me was the hydra drive??? what in the world is that? so does that mean i have to keep it lubed or itll dry up? i would buy this buggy used, so how would i know if he kept it lubed or in good condition? and lastly, do these buggies handle BL power well? will i need to upgrade anything or stock will work? |
hmm..after a bit more researching.. the AE drive train is far superior than losi's.
and even the truck/buggy is more durable. but Bl_rvo, since your going stock, id recommend losi, from what ive been hearing, they handle better, their suspension is better than AE. now it leads me to wondering if i should get a ST...but i wanted to stay away from ground clearance and bigger tires because im sick of my emaxx flipping/rolling on turns. i would think a ST will do the same which is why i want to go with a buggy. |

im glad u posted. i almost just bought a vxl bandit roller LOL. only because its brushless power proven. i didnt want to have to rebuild or toughen the diffs on the AE b3 or the losi bk...but if you say theyre good to go and all i have to do is loosen the slipper, then back to my original choice..LOSI.
yea i know ST sits lower, but i would thought that they would still roll when doing turns at high speeds...heck i see buggies flipping on turns, and they sit real low, which made me thought that STs would definetly flip more. so from your experience, does ST's flip less since they got wider tires and longer arms than buggies...say if i lowered the ST to the lowest suspension? |

Oh, and I didn't say loosen the slipper, I said adjust it properly. To loose and you'll burn it up, to tight and it'll wheelie and might start breaking parts like the diff. The only major thing is to adjust the diff correctly. It has a screw inside one of the diff cups (left I think) and just just use a small allen and in there to hold the screw then turn the opposite wheel to loosen or tighten it. Again, to tight will possible break something, act like the rear is locked, as well as possibly damage the diff, but to loose and it'll wear out the ball bearings inside the gear. Its not difficult, but requires minor adjustments periodically. Its pretty easy to do once you get the hang of it. Hell, I was setting my diff, slipper, suspention for racing when I was 10. |
Throwing this out there- my local track runs a stock slash class. What do you think about that?
|
thats definetly the cheapest route, get a lipo and gear it up for 30mph
|
I think thats what I would do. I like the Slashes and if they have a descent class for them, thats even better, but if you deside to get a 4wd buggy or a 2wd, but there is a guy on Tech selling both a D4 and a XXX CR. Both for pretty good prices, especially the CR. Heres the link: http://www.rctech.net/forum/r-c-item...obby-sale.html

Yeah, if I do this though, I want a new kit. Not sure why, just my preference. Slash class is looking great for me. Here is the rules for the class at my track:
http://www.jimmybabcock.com/Slash%20Rules.htm Says I can run a 2s lipo, gear at whatever, use alum shock caps.... etc.... |
