i really dont notice a "pause" in any of my nonsensored setups, im am optimistic on this one, its nice to have more options for people, but i dont think that its sensored will be that much of a difference

Try racing a 1/10 with a sensorless system then try a sensored system. Sensored is just smoother and a little more precise feeling in both acceleration and (in my opinion) even more importantly braking. Not as big of a deal in the 1/8 size vehicles, but on the track any little bit helps.

This is why we are going to release the systems and motors first. Our motors will run great with any sensorless controller and our esc will run great with any motor. However to truly apreciate the advantages you need to run our motor with our controller.

It will speak for itself. Everyone that has ever driven it says the same thing. Wow! No sense in us cheerleading too much at this point. Some non-biased users will have them soon and I am sure we will hear lots of feeback.

I did not believe there would be much difference between the LRP and the Tekin RS Pro, but I tried it anyway. I was very surprised how much better the RS Pro was and both of them are sensored controllers. I’m sure I will notice the same difference or more with the RX8 vs other sensorless controllers. But then again for a lot of people that are not racing, they will be happy with the sensorless. I’m running in the expert class and I need every advantage I can find. I hope the RX8 delivers.:whip:

i wonder if the drivetrain slop in 1/8 scales will limit the real benefits? you know 1/10 scale stuff is usually really tight, which most 1/8 are loose brand new lol

teamtekin 03.19.2009 04:56 PM

The free rolling T8 motors with lack of cog torque also make the Tekin system a lot smoother. There are a lot of areas that this system has advantages. All of them together makes it butter....

Obviously some will fail. This is a very abusive application, but in general we are very confident people will be pleased overall. I know we are and I am very hard to please:whip:

me too:yes:

so no temps issue without the fan on the esc?????

teamtekin 03.19.2009 05:12 PM

I do not know about no temp issues with no fan. Anything can be pushed hard enough to overheat. We do not use a fan testing so we can see the real heat and find limits. I think you might find thermal shutdown on really hot days and aggressive setups without the fan, but we have not yet. It is designed to have a fan and handle any setup. It does not save size, wt or power to not use it so I am not sure why you would not use it. It only comes on when it needs to.

Is the motors a slotted design or a slotless design? I have run neu motors for a year or so now and my problem is that on jumps, if i let off the throttle, the car rotates due to the rotor being manipulated by the magnet and the slot design of the motor. It's like you hit the brakes hard, Does tekin have that problem?

TekinTeamMgr 04.28.2009 12:25 PM

Our motors are slotted however we have far less cog torque that the Neu's. This means that we coast way more. You will most likely add a bit of drag brake with ours if you're used to the Neu's. My car is not affected by the natural drag of the Tekin T8 motor.

Thanks for the quick answer, I have an old tekin rebel, from tekin's past run. I literally tryed to break that thing, 10 cells nimh 2 14t brushed motors in a Emaxx. I swear that esc loved abuse. I can't wait to try an RX8 and maybe try the 1/10 setups, you got a recommendation for equiv to a 4600 mambamax?

Do you have KV ratings for the sensored 1/10 motors? Or, are they similar to the novaks?

onetoo3 05.04.2009 03:09 PM

how do you guys think it will make out in a flm savage on 4s-6s

big greg 05.04.2009 09:51 PM

i just drove one yesterday, the 2050 on 4s in a rc8, hate to say it but i didnt feel any difference, other then it being a little slower then my car, he had it geared 18/46, maybe its my style of driving.

TekinTeamMgr 05.04.2009 11:54 PM

Our kv's are right there with the orange motors for comparison.

I'd recomend running a 7.5 for most offroad applications if the traction is decent.

Thanks, I love my mamba, but i'm open to any new ideas. I remember the tekin of old, the dominator, I'm sure your esc's and motors are on par with the old tekins, maybe better.

thanks for the reply

One more question, Not that it matters, But what winds are you using? wye or delta? It doesn't matter as both are ok, I am just intrested
