That actually sounds like a good combo. Do you think an MM would handle the current?

It will handle a 2s fine, but 3s will be iffy.

Should do 3s with the bec disabled. I'm getting a fan & cap soon so it should really be able to handle it then.

I'm not so worried about the MM ESC, but rather the 9000kv motor on 3S.

True... That one guy ha da 7700kv motor on 4s, so I think it should stand up to a few runs up and down the street. Unless he is really lucky and I'm really unlucky I think I'll be ok for a few runs.

Stick with the 5700 motor and big pinions... you will be surprised how light a 10th electric tc is. I did 74 with a feigao 380c s can motor and 3s maxamps lipo...

The 5700 castle motor on 3s in a 1/10th TC will be plenty, I get 60mph no problem, gearing up will get you even more. If you really want 4s, just use the castle 4600 motor, 80 should be no problem for that set up. But as other said, a 1/8th scale would be a better bet. Once I started getting my TC up to 60, finding any asphalt smooth enough becomes a problem. The 1/8th stuff can handle a bit rougher terrain (most asphalt around here).

Well, I just closed the deal on the tc3. I'll post up some pics when I get it. Until then, let me know if you come across a deal on a castle motor.

I'm still up in the air about 3 or 4s. What will I need to put a 32p spur in there?

What speed gun should I get?

Metallover, I'm definately in the speed lovin group

Wander over to isc.com & have a look at Nic Case's thread about setting up for 100mph. He explains a lot of what you're asking

I intend to use a MM/7700 combo I got from linc in my TC5 & will start with 2S & work my way toward 4S. Mods will be required to allow things to fit & I will run 32p (with bore reducer if I have too!!) but there are gear manufacturers outside of RC who I hope will produce 1/8 bore...again lots of links at ISC

The body you use will also determine how your setup handles, I have 3 HPI (2 x 190 & 1 x 200) waiting for trials & I hope the 7733 Stiletto with some vertical stabilizers will work best of the 3...?

have you got all your electrics e.t.c yet?
i am thinking of making a speed car out of my tc4 i was trying to work out what kind of speeds it could acheive e.t.c with the speed calculator but i didn't what values to put in for the 1st 3 boxes
i was planning on using a tekin 6200kv motor on 5s with a mamba monster speed controller
have you decided on a voltage e.t.c yet?

Metallover 06.06.2009 02:37 PM

I haven't decided on electronics. I'll wait until I get the tc3 to decide. I'll probably use 3-4s though.

Metallover 06.12.2009 02:25 PM

I got the tc3 yesterday. came all thrown in a box with no packaging to speak of. The foam front bumper wasn't held down so I fixed that. I don't like how the gear mesh is set either... It came with drift tires on it. Body is pretty nice- good flexible strong lexan.

I like how my 4s lipo will fit in there after some dremeling, so I think I'll go with the 4s system. Can anyone tell me what it will take to switch to a 32p spur gear?

nitrostarter 06.12.2009 02:30 PM

how much she cost?

Metallover 06.12.2009 02:33 PM

$110 shipped. Has the slightest pawn shop smokey smell to it.

Would a jato .8 mod (I think that's 32p) work?

snellemin 06.12.2009 02:49 PM

Servo city sells 32P spurs. I have a 44t 32P spur in one of my pan cars. The GENX 10 of mine uses a Traxxes 54T 32P spur. I just drilled out the center a bit to make it fit properly.

Metallover 06.12.2009 03:11 PM

The diameter of the spur gear on my tc3 is about 40mm. what's the diameter of your 44t spur?

Dunno man. Dont have the car here with me. Figure that 44T 32p is equal to about 66T 48P. BrainG has the gear diameter calculator. 44T is equal to 36.5mm.
