Windings are not usually that close to the endbell but it would be good to be very careful before drilling...

The only concern I would have is not getting and metal bits in the motor from the drilling and tapping.

I have drilled and tapping a couple endbells but they were removed from the motor... so no issues there.

From my understanding, the LMT's are??? Interesting!
