3905 tranny

Nick I've beenrunning 6s Lipo and a 1600 kv 80mm medusa through a stock 3905 tranny for about 12 months with zero problems with the tranny
it's a really good upgrade plus the 4 m4 screws that mount it make it relatively easy to mount
nice looking truck!

Thanks!

Took it out again today and had a blast with it.

Didn't get to much video. It was a new place to run with some massive hills and TONS of mud. I actually got MYSELF stuck in the mud haha

Bashing video

Then towards the end I was racing up a hill against a slash and drifted over to the left and caught a downed tree head on.....

Did some damage. Looks like it snapped the housing right off and managed to snap the axle too.

These axles are pretty beefy but I'm not sure they can take the punishment.

I found this I thought I would post too. It's from when I first started thinking about how to put it all together. The upper part of the chassis changed a bit but other than that this is how I cam up with the transmission placement and mount, links lengths and servo mounts.

I've seen all aluminum Clod axles somewhere ? Maybe Icky Integy and they be modded to use your set up w/the Emaxx tranny ?

TXT axles are basically the shafted version of clod axles but they're still pretty narrow compared to these. I believe the clod and TXT axles are about 11" hex to hex and these axles are around 14" hex to hex. I'm running the most offset I can get on a wheel to make them as wide as possible too which puts more stress on them.

Bondonutz 08.31.2009 05:03 PM

Well, when you buy new axles to replace the broken one I hope you have a plan for beefing them up. How about some angle aluminum top or bottom of the axle to truss it up ?

magman 08.31.2009 07:52 PM

Cool

Foxracin 09.01.2009 09:43 AM

That thing is way to cool man. I love it. Hate you broke it though.

Aw that sucks you cracked up the front... Can't believe how realistic it looks!

You need to put a camera right on the ground, I'll bet with the sound muted a lot of people would be fooled into thinking it was a real MT!

Very cool build Nick!

NickRummy 09.13.2009 02:40 PM

Turns out I had a spare diff from my LSP and that diff assembly practically drops right in to replace the XTM diff. I didn't have a pinion I could try so I'm thinking about trying to get a complete LSP2 diff and pinion and see if I can get it working. Those diffs look a lot more stout.

How about a little mud? :yipi:

To bad the fun didn't last long

Good effort from my buddy's 2.2 to get it out.

Electronics stayed nice and dry. I think I'm going to line the top of the rear fenders with a foam weather stripping so that when the cover is down it seals up better.

Look at that little feller

Found out it was the idler gear in the maxx trans that gave up

Every time I check out your thread I get inspired to look for a similar truck and can't find one or any info. This truck must have ben out a while. I'v found a Hummer but would rather not :-(
Good to see your getting a lot of use out of it ! Keep posting.

NickRummy 09.13.2009 05:42 PM

It has been out for a while but the body is really hard to come by. New in the package they are lowered with big rims on it. I THINK this is one but it doesn't mention the scale. There is a 1/10th version out too which I why I'm reluctant to say it is the larger version.

JJ Silverado SS on ebay

You can find the body only on the crawling sites sometimes for sale but they still aren't cheap. Most people strip them down and get ready for a build but don't follow through. I think I paid about $50 shipped for the body only to get mine.

suicideneil 09.13.2009 05:58 PM

Heh, thats how my output gear looked when it striped- I find it strange though that the teeth sheer off like that, rather than just grinding down or melting through friction etc. I would say either chuck a steel idler from Mike in there, or consider an 3905 tranny- they have a steel idler and wider gears as standard.
