and is castle going to void the warrentys on the ICE as soon as we put it into a car like you guys did with the hv110?

Would the ICE 12S controller work for 1/5 car application?

If yes, what motor would be a good fit?

Great news by the way. I have been waiting for such a controller for a real long time.

Are you asking if Castle would release a product and not back it up:oh:? I suppose it's possible that they'll release a firmware swap for it with a disclaimer that any damage won't be covered under warranty (though they'll probably still cover it as long as you don't deliberately burn it up). If they're releasing a car-specific model I have every confidence that they'll have out backs on it. I'm still twiddling my thumbs waiting for that Marine version...

Up to 12s lipo at up to 160 amps, by my math that's over 7,000 watts with the lipos at nominal voltage. That should be plenty to handle a 1/5th scale.

I would say it depends on your application. MasterBlaster's Baja has a Neu 2215 in it and it goes like stink! The highest KV I would go for is the 2Y on 10S, go lower KV and more voltage if you can. A Neu 2230 will power any 1/5th scale R/C currently on the market as long as the ESC and lipos can handle it but that is a $700 motor capable of putting out over 13 HP.

i used to think that too, untill they said we were voiding our warrentys by useing them in cars

That's because the Phoenix-HV was never designed for use in cars, doesn't have the right hardware for cars, and doesn't have the right software for cars. So we don't warranty them for use in cars, or power tools, or sex toys, or anything non-airplane.

If we decide to release a car version of the ICE-HV, it will be warrantied for use in cars. It's possible that the car version may be exactly the same as the airplane version, but not definite yet -- we haven't done enough testing to make that determination yet.

How about the boat version? That's the one I'm really interested in. Just waterproof it, add water cooling, and toss the Hydra software on it already!

On the way soon (a couple months most likely.) We just finished the design for the water cooled heat sink, and are waiting for the water cooled extrusion samples.

So is there going to be a Mamba Ice HV in the next couple months too?

Alright. I got an Etti instead, I'm determined to have my SuperVee back in the water before winter. Maybe an ICE will find it's way into my next boat project.

You guys are hopeless at naming escs- any HV ICE car controller badged as the higher voltage/ current version of the MMM would ofcourse be called:

The ICE Monster...

I'll take one as payment for coming up with that beautiful name

Unsullied_Spy 09.11.2009 04:29 AM

ICE Monster, that works for me!
