Lenth is the bigger issue, can a longer motor squeeze in ?

Thanks !

Nard Cox 02.04.2010 01:45 PM

That depends on how long you want it. There still is some room left as you can see in this picture. If you give me the length of the motor I will check it for you.

If I decide to do this FLM chassis the motor I'd might use is roughly 1" longer and I'm concerned the ESC tray might be in the way ?

Nard Cox 02.04.2010 02:02 PM

Just did some measurements and made some pictures for you : click (and click to the right).

Roughly is risky in this case. 1'' (2.54 cm) would fit, but just barely. Of course you would have to cut some materials of the TVP's.

Fab pics, thanks !
Q: can the ESC tray/shelf be put on the other side of the chassis and ditch the RX box and put they lipos in front ?

Nard Cox 02.04.2010 03:06 PM

No problem.

There's no way you can make that all fit, at least I don't see how:

I see now with the over head shot, puts the lay out in perspective.
Thanks again !

Yeah, I saw I lacked pictures of the complete overview, my bad.

Glad to be of help.

Some Qs, thnx for any reply.

What are the battery tray area dimensions with the flux motor and ESC installed? If i built this i would really like to run a single 5s battery.

What is the distance from the base of the ESC to the rear shock tower? Wondering if it would get hit like the stock Flux setup.

What are the dimensions of the front tray area? Wondering if the ESC could be moved up there and if that would create more battery tray area.

Can the Flux spur gear gear cover be fitted?

Also, any jumping yet? How does it fly?

Hi there,

1. (dimensions) Dimensions depend on the spur/pinion you are running. I'm running stock spur and pinion and the with is about 37mm, will be about 2 to 3mm longer if you will use the supplied spacers on the left TVP to widen it a bit more. The length is about 160 or more I guess, The hight is about 60mm but pretty much unlimited. What battery with what dimensions are you trying to fit?

2. (base ESC) No idea, will measure that when I have time.

3. (front tray area) No idea, but will check that asap.

4. (spur gear cover) If you can mod a little I'm sure it can, but I don't think it fits without any mods, but again will have to check this to be sure.

5. No. But today the whether is good so I should be getting some air time today. It's 11:08 here now and will go bashing (hopefully) @ 12:00. Will bring my camera for some footage.

I'm in bed right now and will try to give an answer to your questions asap!!

Currently i'm running 2x 6500 mAh Hyperion 2s batteries. They are about 154x42x28 each so it seems two of them would not fit. I was hoping to run a 5s pack(145x50x49mm) or 4s single pack(145x50x38mm) but it seems they are too wide (without spacers). Although in your first post you said that your existing batteries were 148 x 49 x 33mm ..or was that the dimensions of 2 single packs together?

..Looking further ..going down capacity there are 4s batteries that would fit or 5s. Lower capacity then i would prefer though and the last 5s would be a bit low on max amps.

Update: Checked out your picasa pics. You have two very skinny batteries in one pic and one large battery in another. What batteries are they? What run time do you get?

Nard Cox 02.07.2010 12:03 PM

Just got back from driving ... damn it was cold!!

Anyway, the 28mm thick packs will not fit. The 5s 49mm or 4S 38mm also don't fit.

The LiPo's I'm using are 2 * Turnigy 2S 5A 20C or 1 * 4S 5A 20C which fit perfectly within the TVP's without the spacers. The last one provides 120A which should be okay, or at least my 100A are doing perfectly fine. Planning on buying me some Turnigy 4S 5A 30C to see if there is a noticeable difference between 100 and 150A. That 5S 4A 30C is also a candidate.

Going to clean my cars (RC8Te / Flux / STe) now because they are dirty as **** .

EDIT : Done with cleaning. I can tell you that it's not tail heavy (at all), the first few jumps I thought it was front heavy.

_dV 02.07.2010 07:43 PM

What's the runtime like with your current batteries?

Nard Cox 02.08.2010 03:14 AM

Well, I didn't drive it constantly. First I drove the Flux, then the RC8Te then the STe. First I did some jumps which consumes hardly any power, after that some dirt speeding and jumping and then the battery drains easier.

I would guess I drove it around for about 30/40 minutes.

nice looking flm, doing one my self with the mmm 2200. can you show a pic. of the 4s that fit.
