Here's the video! It's not the best, but it works. The camera is mounted to the top of my helmet. The good thing about that is that you can see everything I see. The bad thing is that it's so high up it looks like I am going a lot slower then I actually am.

The camera stopped recording after 30 minutes and 36 seconds. I think it ran out of memory on the 2gb card. The .AVI file it made was 1.86gb. There was nothing else on the card when I recorded this.

After editing and converting the file is 88.3mb. I can upload that directly to megaupload if anyone is interested. I might also be able to work some magic with winrar...

I think the camera did a pretty good job and overall I am happy with it.

That's not bad, in fact it is very similar to the keychain cam, it even has the same time date stamp. You'll find when you stick it in an rc the will be a hell of a lot more jittering.

I just got one of the 808 keychain cams, and yes panda the timestamps are identical. In fact the specs, picture and everything except the physical layout are the same.

So it seems we're finally at the point where a decent standard has been reached!

Video looks good Riley, a bit shaky on your skull, wonder what it would look like mounted to the bike? Nice e-bike too!

I guess it's come down to pure preference of standup vs. laydown, I plan to go with the keychain over the Turnigy. But only because they will work so much better for the planes. So not to threadjack here, I am equally impressed with the Turnigy.

I may get a few of the Turnigys just for ground use... decisions decisions!

I uploaded another video. I tried to make it more exciting, and I added audio. There are some slow motion shots at the end.

I found an AWESOME review/comparison of the keychain cam and the turnigy cam

That is a good review, highlights a few important differences that arent immediately obvious. I wonder, if you enter nothing for the date and time file ( just leave it empty, or put a '.' there ), whether that would get rid of it altogether?...

I don't believe you can edit the time stamp file, but there are filters for programs that completely take it out.
I can't recall the video I watched, but it wasn't completely gone..

kulangflow 04.05.2010 11:34 AM

You can edit the date, but there is no known way to actually remove it. Most people just blur it or crop it out.

Metallover 04.05.2010 11:38 AM

I've tried editing/deleting the date on the turnigy cam with every method I could find, but to no avail. Blurring/cropping seems to be the only way.

suicideneil 04.05.2010 02:22 PM

Very odd, its the only thing that spoils these ickle cameras really. Never mind I guess..

Bondonutz 04.05.2010 03:00 PM

I bought the keychain cam months ago, arrived not working. Seller even sent me a refund. I read this thread and watched the review and got it working after all. Refund and it works, bonus !
Yeah it's junk, but kinda cool for sneaky video productions or for voyeristic shots for the unsuspecting ladies.

Hmm....

Its ultra small, light weight design and low cost make it a great camera for casual in flight videos.
Strap it to your wing, fuse, tail, canopy or just about anywhere. Its recessed buttons prevent vibration from changing the functions and makes it easier to attach to your model. And because the camera lense is mounted on the edge the whole case is more aerodynamic than other cameras.
The SD card is removable and the camera has a USB port for direct PC copying.
There are many similar cameras to this one on the market, but be assured this model has a true 30 frames per second rating and includes fast SANDisk memory for jitter free picture motion. Lense hardware is 640x480px and maintains the correct aspect ratio without AVI manipulation*. Producing a clear 640x480 AVI jitter free movie.

Specification:
Size: 52x30x12mm
Weight: 18g incl. battery & keychain
Video lense: 640x480 pixel (correct aspect ratio)
Battery: 200mAh Lipo
FPS: 30 (True Rating)
Pixel: 1280x960
Continuous video recording time: 60min
Voice-activated standby time: 120 hours standby time
Capacity of memory card: Can support upto 16GB (max.)
USB interface: USB1.1/2.0

Included accessories:
Turnigy TD16 camera
Micro SD card (2GB)
USB Connector
*Other similar cameras have software AVI formatting to 720x480px, reducing clarity of the 640x480 native image from the lense. While this sounds good on paper, it makes the movie less clear and enjoyable.

Price: $15.95

The other week I used this cam at a fella's buck's do 'hehehe....'

This weekend I'm going on go-karts but I think it might be raining at the time. Won't stop us karting just the video :(

pinkpanda3310 05.22.2010 10:49 PM

Well I went karting and it was fantastic. It pissed down with rain which made it slippery as hell. I only won one race but posted fastest lap time on nearly all races.

Unfortunately no video but, sorry guy's. I borrowed a helmet from my dad and rigged the atc5k on it. Did the practice session with it turned off and then the organisers said I had to change helmets cause it wasn't full face and not legal. SPEEEWWWWIIINNG!
