Nah Dude has an unusual way of making a compliment :)
Looks real good, should be a good handler with the low cog too. Very nice work so far! |

What Steering assembly is this? In Post # 27. Is it even meant for a maxx? I like the adjustable nut.
Thank You. |
It's a steering from a savage (golden horizons #02042) had to do alot of work to get it in there not something that would not be able to go in reg E-maxx. The metal peice on top is hollowed out.

Hey all , need help and some opinions. Im stuck waiting on battires and charger $$ low, So I figured I would start working on the suspension set-up. Here's where I dont know which direction to go. Option #1 to get 8 better ofna shocks like U.E. ones and remake shock tower out of aluminum and keep geometry pretty much the same. Option #2 use 4 losi eight 2.0 rears and make like pictures posted. Forgive me pics arent that great. I was thinking that the losi shocks would be a much more smoother and more stable but alot more work.

The only issues I see are that the lower mount extensions might be sort of flimsy unless you made a piece to bridge the F & R mounts on each A arm.
And you'd lose your body posts unless you came up with a way around that. I think aesthetically it would be better to go with the 8 shock plan... |
I like it! One thing I would do, though, is machine another rear diff riser block so that it captures the lower hinge-pins...

Thanks guys for the feed back. Chad thats a good idea im going to have look into getting longer hinge pins then. Red you are right in line with what I was thinking. I was going to make 2 of the extensions in carbon fiber to sandwhich the top peice made out of aluminum, to center the shock. Im still kinda up in the air if I should go any father enjineering this method, like you said Red about the body posts and the fact is there going to be a benefet. This way it does bring the shocks up higher which brings the COG higher, but you do lose some weight going from 8 shocks to 4. Some times designing your own is kinda a drag, you spend days sometimes couple of weeks just thinking is this a good direction, am I missing anything, should I try it this way................. Well again guys thanks for the info i'll keep you posted

Losi eight shpcks are good but you may have a bit of trouble getting stiff enough springs for them - its easier to go the 8 shocks route verses the 4 eight shocks if you know what I mean

"Red you are right in line with what I was thinking. I was going to make 2 of the extensions in carbon fiber to sandwhich the top peice made out of aluminum, to center the shock"
Well, sort of. I was envisioning the dogleg exts. being offset either F or R, and tieing them together below the upper A arm. The body post mount could then be offset the opposite side to retain your post centerline. With the oversized wheels I really think you need the extra control of two shocks. Your idea would certainly score big points for uniqueness, but I lean toward that being MTTIW honestly. And you don't necessarily have to run 8 springs either as I'm sure you're aware. We'll just have to see where it goes! |
You could also adapt a set of Revo rockers and make inboard shock mounts

Revo style, I like but wouldnt really work for my appplication. I decided to go with an 8 shock ofna set-up. I think there a larger bore size than even the U.E. shocks, which does anyone know the bore size on those? I also have coming my G.A. bulkheads coming. So once i get shocks and bulkheads in hand Im going to start working on shock towers.
|
well guys im kinda at a stand still now, got my shocks and bulkheads was working on making my shock towers and broke my mill. Now I have to wait on parts :( probally going to just buy some utill i get my mill up and running. With Christmas coming putting a hamper on funds so it's probally going to be after newyears before i get it running.
|
Well im going to get started again , after a broken mill, a foreclosure and a new baby. I bought a set of shocktowers. There alot of really good ones out there so why bother making them, I went with Integy t4076 for my ofna shocks.
