Guys, can i use this for 2 chargers? http://fmadirect.com/Detail.htm?item=1994&section=57

Electric Dave 03.31.2006 08:03 AM

Depends at what rate you charge. For 1C charging, sure but more than that...nope. I would suggest the CE 23 Amp, lots of headroom... or something with at least 20 amps.

coolhandcountry 03.31.2006 08:49 AM

Well if you going to run the 6400 batteries and charge at a 3c rating you will be charging at 19.2 amps per battery.

starscream 03.31.2006 01:30 PM

If these chargers were truely 3C chargers, coolhandcountry would be correct, but I believe these chargers will only charge at 10 amps max so the 6400mah packs should take twice as long to charge as the 3200mah packs.
These chargers charge the packs with around 80% efficiency so your looking at atleast 12 amps per charger.
With those numbers the CE23 amp power supply should handle charging at 9.5 amps but personally I would charge at less than that to be safe. I usually charge at 7.5 amps with two chargers, just to keep the power supply happy :027: .

Do you know if either UE or Gorilla Maxx will bring out a suspension kit for the Revo like they did with the Maxx?

Serum 04.01.2006 02:01 PM

The revo is superior in suspension, it would take quite some engineering to improve it. and the question is; Why?

And knowing UE, they don't invest time in developing anything new anymore.

captain harlock 04.01.2006 02:15 PM

Thanks for the info, Serum.

Serum 04.01.2006 02:29 PM

With the suspension of the maxx, g-maxx did a nice thing with lowering the shocktowers and raising the mountingpoint of the shocks. WIth a revo, such a thing isn't needed, look at it.. It looks sweeter than sweet already..

HotnCold 04.01.2006 06:36 PM

Yea Serum - them revos are nice looking - im lookin at one now - izzz nyyyceee...

coolhandcountry 04.01.2006 07:32 PM

If i was looking at the one see walter. I don't think i could say much but drool. :027:

squeeforever 04.01.2006 11:22 PM

about the only thing i can think to improve it is a true track rear end like the racer x.

captain harlock 04.02.2006 06:16 AM

I thought I might see some major hopups for the revo from the GM and UE companies. I might buy it if such thing would take place, but I'm already in love with 1/8 scale stadium trucks and buggies. I'll start a brushless conversion for a stadium or truggy with Mike's help in the future with God's willing. And a 1/8 buggy, too.

Hey guys, im in a time crunch so, its down to 3200mah 14.8V lipos OR 16 ib3800 cells, what will give me better power/runtime? Price is my last concern. Also, the power supply that fma lists, can it be used for 2 chargers? Or is it only for one? thanks.

captain harlock 04.02.2006 01:21 PM

If you are looking for power ( extreme, though), go lipo. Its very simple, buddy.

MetalMan 04.02.2006 03:11 PM

Does it have to be the FMA packs? You can get something cheaper with just as much that will work with other batteries besides the FMA ones (for future upgrades). The Hyperion and Polyquest batteries work well. I've picked out a setup for you to contemplate:
2x http://www.allerc.com/product_info.p...oducts_id=2062
http://www.allerc.com/product_info.p...oducts_id=1865
http://www.allerc.com/product_info.p...oducts_id=1391 (can be gotten cheaper)
Then, you can modify this to be able to charge both packs at once:
http://www.allerc.com/product_info.php?products_id=1877
Total is $345. If your controller doesn't have a LVC, then you could buy one:
http://66.241.195.91/lithium/lithium.asp?path1=lithium
Total now is $370. For the power supply below, add $31.95, and you get $402.

Let's say you went with the FMA Scorpion (proprietary) packs instead.
2x http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXKLK7&P=7
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXKLK9&P=7
and the power supply, for a total of $337. Compared to the other setup I showed, this is what you would lose:
-Runtime
-Future non-Scorpion upgrades
In the long run, you could end up losing money by going the proprietary way if you ever wanted to switch to a different brand, or if bought enough Scorpion packs (they're expensive!). So, I laid another option out for you, and now you get to do the thinking :).

As for the power supply:
http://www.emtel.com/search/product_...t_id=EMV15012V
With this one (the same as FMA?), you only need to cut up a computer power cable and remove some of the shrink from the wires (like you would for RC) and then wrap them around the screw terminals. This is the power supply that I use, and that's how I hook it up. So far, I've only pulled about 107watts from it (assuming 85% charger efficiency), at which point the voltage dropped from 13v to 12.5*v (4s Lipo at 5.4amps).
