- the fan is always ON and acts strangely, it turns off when throttle is applied and turn ON again at neutral. - there is a difference with the previous firmware, at very low speed or at start the cogging is more important, and we can hear a longer sound while the ESC probes the rotor to start. - the power limiter works good. Perfect timing, just got my EagleTree today. First thing I'll do is test out the torque control and power limiting features.
Question: How does the max throttle limiting feature compare to say turning the throttle EPA up or down on your radio? |
Applying less than 100% EPA would simply like not applying the full range to the throttle trigger; so, 75% EPA would be like only going to 75% of the max travel of the trigger.
This release seems like it has potential. Although, since torque is a function of current, I don't know how the ESC can know how much current is being pulled unless it has a current sensor like the ICE line does. Speaking of this, wouldn't torque control be similar to current limiting in a way? |
Yeah I get how EPA works, but how does the max throttle limiter work? I just assumed it did the same thing as lowering EPA. So if you set the throttle limiter to 75%, is that accomplishing the same thing as turning the EPA down to 75% (providing you calibrated the ESC with EPA at 100%)? I guess with the throttle limiter you would still have the full range and resolution of your throttle trigger?

IMO the torque limiter is in fact a current limiter. Concerning the power limiter, if the power is too limitated i suspect the ESC to heat a little more than usual. That could explain why with this firmware the fan is always ON...

Went back to v1.26 on the MMP and v1.24 on the MMM, both cars are perfect, smooth as glass, no cog and everything I want the esc to do.
I played with all the settings in I don't know how many combinations and always the same result. Alot of cog then lunging forward, if I kept the throttle at 1/4 it would run smooth (after the initial lunge) for about 5 seconds. Every five or so seconds it would lurch forward again. I'll be waiting for v1.28, maybe everything will be good then, but currently with v1.26/v1.24 I have no complaints. |
When the grip is good, the acceleration and the amp draw is higher (dust vs on road for example)...
So it does not necessary tape the current spikes, but power the motor to get the best grip conditions. More power is given to the ground than temp and amp should not necessary be lower than before. I am still concerned about the punch control disabled when the torque control is activated, so there is still amp spikes during a kickdown. That's why IMO you can't for the moment use lower C rating batteries... The next version will probably fix this anyway. |

I loaded this new firmware and the my MM does not start anymore!!!! the lights only blink.. the BEC comes on and sends voltage to the steering, but that's about it... no chiming from the motor... no response from the throttle... when i went back to an older firmware, there was no change... what gives?? Help Please... edit: The fan stayed on the entire time... |
