The idea sounds good but thats about it I'm afraid. Thats a TON more work ?
Also would make strenth issues I'd think, Thanks but no thanks. |
Yeah, looks a tad long anyways. :)
What did you cut the plates out with? Jigsaw? Quote:

See post #9
Shortening today then hopefully getting a LOT more done ?? |
it does look great, but it would benefit from being shortened. Keep us posted with pictures.
im just in the process of rebuilding my truck and i just cant find the time... |
Due to unforseeables I wasn't able to work on the chassis as much as I hoped to today.
But, I did have a hellava brain storm thanks to JPOPROCK during a email conversation. I will no longer be using the Flux tranny, I'm going with something a bit better. I will post pictures when I get a chance to get back into the workroom and make some progress, hopefully Tuesday. |
Look forward to seeing what your up to.
Pity your gonna chop the length, would love to have seen the 24 incher with the front wheels in the air :mdr: |
i would have liked to have seen the size of the drive shafts you would use haha :)

Yeah Jeff, I feel your pain with shortening the chassis. I had a penis reduction surgery not long ago, and you really start to second guess your decision after it's too late.
Yer welcome for the "idea". Lord knows you've given me plenty too!! |

Jason, I think the WB at 22" will be more than enough. I origianlly wanted a tick longer to be a bit different but the added weight and lenth I've determined is not needed nor in best intrest of the build. |
That's what she said!

UPDATE w/PICs
OK, I've shortened the chassis down to 22" so WB will be a tick longer.
The motor I've decided on is a 1521 1050kv and should work nicely with 8&10S, a little worried the motor might be a little underpowered. I was hopeing to use my 1527 but 1500kv is way to much for 10s. I've installed the transmission, looks a little awkward but the LST tranny is far superior over the Flux trans. It has more gear reduction and a much better slipper clutch assembly. With the trans centered the outdrives are still off set a bit so instead of making Dogbones I will home fab CVD's instead. All the brackets and stuff I made nothing is nut&bolted together, I tapped all connections in 4mm except a few things which are 3mm. Yes I have a brace for the tail end of the motor to help support, not shown in pic. Q; which end should the CVD be on, The Trans or Diff ?????? I still have a loooong ways to go yet, I have to install the battery tray and I have LOTS of finish work to do to the chassis (cut outs to lighten it, file and smooth all edges, make openings much neater and tidy up everything. Was going to shoot for a 60F/40R weight distribution but not real sure where thats gonna lead with how I have stuff now ??? Dual 4s and/or 5s packs will weigh in a lot and hopefully get the balance to where it needs to be .... Still trying to decide on a "finish" for the chassis or go raw aluminum ??? http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...E/P8270043.jpg http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...E/P8270045.jpg http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...E/P8270042.jpg http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...E/P8270048.jpg http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...E/P8270047.jpg http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...E/P8270040.jpg http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...E/P8270044.jpg http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...E/P8270046.jpg |
