Also I do believe there are more options to chose from. I just saw silver and blue on TowerHobby for like $20.

I cannot seem to get into the site at the moment to retrieve a link for you though. They do look exactly the same as the one you showed, but naodized silver and blue. Very nice. Anyway please keep sharing your experience with them so we know whether or ont they are worth the purchase.

Well, bad news:

I managed to strip the threads on both the hex adapter and wheel nut. How is that possible?

I'm a bit reluctant to try the other Integy ones now. My only other choice is to order the Savage 5T axles from overseas. I'm not too happy to have to wait at least another week for delivery plus $80+ I'm going to spend on them and some new adapters as well.

Lame.....foiled again by Integy's super soft aluminum. I was really having high hopes for these because they look like good units that would work really well, IF they used harder aluminum. Looks like the same thing that happens to all other integy pieces.....soft as lead with the weight of aluminum.

What really needs to happen is someone needs to make stub axles like what is on a LST2/LST XXL so we could just use the normal buggy hex adapters.

Jahay 10.31.2010 04:52 AM

looks like we were all fooled into thinking, maybe.... just maybe.... has integy improved...

Obviosuly not, and thank you for being the test subject i guess....

I still stand by that integy only really make a couple of decent parts, being the rear tie rod eliinators and front hubs and uprights...

Shame of it all.

Now thats a real shame. I too was hoping that they finally came up with something worth spending money on. As usual they look real nice but just do not hold up like other manufatcured R/C gear. I geuss they must sell enough crap to keep them in business so they just keep pumping out more. With so many options on the market these days I feel sorry for anyone who buys Integy now. Good luck.

Sorry to see this though I'm not exactly surprised. Wasted funds always sux.

Is there a way to harden aluminum?

I have no idea.

I've been searching for another solution all night. I'm just going to put the $80 up for the Savage 5T axles and another $30 or so on some quality extended hexes. I should have took that route the first place but chose to save a few bucks instead. Cost me more in the long run. At least we all know now not the get the Integy adapters!

Yes, but you dont want to go there. Its a cold working process, where you basically pound the surface.

From this pic, which I altered a bit, it looks like those O rings go inside the nuts in a small channel that can be seen, it's where I made the red line. This is to help prevent the nut from unscrewing itself. The problem with that channel is that it take away two or three treads off the nut so it might explain why they were so easy to strip.

Stripped.

What I would like to know is exactly how they stripped? Was it while in operation due to coming loose, or was it while you were installing/tightening the nuts? What was the real cause of this failure. I get the "O"-ring now, but kind of a weak way to atempt keeping the nut in place if you ask me. Why not just put a nut with a flange/shoulder on it, and add a serated surface to hold it in place. The only way to keep from destroying the o-ring in a threaded application is to lubricate it, and we all know that kind of defeats the purpose of using the nut in the first place, because it will surely work its way loose. I find it hard to believe that with all of the great engineering that goes into desiging these vehicles that some one cannot come up with a full proof way to keep our wheels on.

LiqrSicc 10.31.2010 10:37 PM

Thanks MC, now I see what the rubber o-rings were for. I didn't notice that at all until you pointed it out. Not too sure if it would have made a difference though.

Jerry, I took the Flux out for it's first run yesterday. Went through each wheel nut just to make sure they were nice and tight and next thing you know this one just lost all resistance. It looks like the wheel nuts held up but the actual hex adapter was the one to strip. I guess it's better that it happened before I ran it than to have a hex fall off while I'm bashing.

Well, I shelled out $83 to get these sent to me via express from the UK. Hopefully it gets to me by the weekend but I'm doubting it. Now to find some quality 17mm adapters.

That's really too bad. These adapters would be really nice if they were not made from garbage materials.

I can't believe only Integy makes something like this... Maybe FLM can make something? They have made a number of hex adapters for other veh, and their quality is always good. Maybe Mike even?
