Is the conversion kit a total kit or just a mod to the stock setup?

I'm asking because I'm taking all the stock parts I have from my truck and building a stocker setup for my son so if I take parts from the stock I have to replace those parts so I can make another truck.

If it's a mod what would I need from the stock setup so I can prepare for replacement?

It is a mod. I can get the internal parts for the conversion if you want to keep your stock tranny intact.

That would rock for me so I can just slide the stock setup out and drop in the conversion all in one smooth move. Put together all I'll need to make it happen.

I think I may be going BL a little sooner than later, ;)

Thanks again Mike!

driveshafts?

Just had a look at the kit, is this kit front rear drive or just rear drive, by the look of the backing plates it seems like there is only one driveshaft coming out, maybe I'm just confused?

the kit is still 4 wheel drive. It simply removes half othe tranny gears from inside the case, but still has both driveshafts exiting the tranny.

so do you need to do any mods to the gears in the tranny or you just take ou the whole side and put the new one in and its good ?

First of all, welcome to the forums! Now, to your question:

The input shaft (top shaft with the slipper clutch) has to be cut to fit inside the new aluminum case. This is easily done with a dremel. Then, the extra gears are taken out. A pretty simple mod, actually. You are only 30 minutes away, so I could easily help you with this if you needed it. Of course, the tranny is unavailable at the moment, but should be available in a short amount of time.

cool i will probably purchase one i want to make my revo electric with a e-maxx tranny and dont want to have the shift servo or the 2 speeds so yeah . thanks for the welcoming

I lock out first gear on my trannies anyways, so the single speed conversion is the aobvious choice for me. I have the prototype and I love it!

is this aimed more to racers or bashers or just anyone?

RC-Monster Mike 04.27.2005 06:39 PM

Anyone can use it. It's benefits help the basher and the racer.

It is weight and gear saving.. (and darn nice looking as well, if you ask me!)

The constant engagement also makes for smoother throttle control, as well as less stress on the whole drive train.
