Well guys, I finally crapped together enough to get a LiPo setup for it. I'm going with a couple of 3S 8000mah LiPo packs. I'm also lookin at the LBA10 balancer to go with it. What LVC should I look into? I was thinking a Li-Saver...

natrix 09.12.2006 09:52 PM

Sweet truggy!!! I can't wait to see it in action.

squeeforever 09.12.2006 10:23 PM

Thanks!

Dimension Engineering makes a LVC called CellShield that monitors the individual cells in packs. You could use the series adapter I drew up to hook the balance connectors from the two 3s packs together so that all 6 cells in series could be monitored by the LVC. They might be working on a car version for it, but I haven't gotten a definitive answer from them (I've offered to beta test the car version if they were to make it). Check here:

Do we have to use LVC even though the controller ( Schulze or MGM) has this feature?

MetalMan 09.13.2006 12:24 AM

You don't need a whole-pack LVC if the controller already has it built in. But it might be a nice feature to monitor the individual cells, which the controller can't do.

captain harlock 09.13.2006 12:35 AM

Yeah, you're right.

neweuser 09.13.2006 09:18 AM

Great job getting the crap together for lipo, can't wait to see the thing move!

squeeforever 09.13.2006 10:24 PM

Me either :p. Thanks Metal for the link. I think I'm gonna get one of those. Just gotta make a clean wiring job. Thats the hardest part... Yipee! 5 hours of soldering, splicing, ziptieing, etc... By the way, what do you think about this? I like the looks of it but I don't think its enough for my servo....

MetalMan 09.13.2006 10:52 PM

I think 3amps on a UBEC is a good target to shoot for, especially with the more powerfuly servos in MTs. Will you be using a 9920 (no built-in LVC)?
If you want to get the CellShield, I suggest you contact Dimension Engineering and see what they say about using it in cars. Otherwise, you might be the guinea pig :024:.

squeeforever 09.13.2006 10:54 PM

I don't mind :p. Besides...they say its a "soft cutoff", which is the only thing I would worry about. Yea, I figured about the all in one...I will be using a 7020 actually. I might change to a 9920 if I have heat issues or if I fry the 7020...I figure I would rather fry the 7020 and the 9920 on 6S :p.
