Trying to "keep up with the Jones's" will get you in financial trouble real quick. As stated before, a good job over time will give you financial stability. Be diligent in paying off the bills rather than going for the latest new toy on credit will pay off in the long run. Establish a budget, and always make sure there is just a little for "fun", but stick to it. DO NOT use credit. You loose more money on credit than you would gain by putting that same amount in savings and letting it grow.
Ten years ago after my divorce, I could barely afford 1.50 one night a week for a Burger king Cheese burger, and 10 bucks to go out and have a couple beers. Patience.....its hard to do, but it does pay off......

This my kind of post. I've been out of the r/c hooby for 15 years but always have been into mopars. I have a 74 Dart Sport (I have owned for 17 years)with a 572 pump gas alum block in my street car. Last year she went 9.8's with a 1.35 60ft with marathon 93 :).

Now if I can figure out how to build an electric rustler to beat some of my friends r/c nitro cars/trucks

Good luck with a speedy & amicable (as much as possible anyway) divorce. Divorce it tough. My wife went thru a 2-1/2 year + divorce with her idiot X and the attorneys got pretty fat & happy because he couldn't settle on ANYTHING!

Settle & get out before the attorneys gobble up all your hard-earned $$$.

Do you have any children???

Pro

Where should I start? Who has the fastest Rustler around or another truck/car like it. I need a proven combo that will kick butt. My lhs has a guy who says he knows what I need but he races indoors. I'm just looking for some weekend bashinh with the buds and kinda show tham up :)

Thanks

Mamba maxx on 3s lipo. Right gearing will get you near 60 if you can drive it.

Procharged5.0 01.02.2007 09:15 PM

I'd second Leroys post. The Mamba Maxx 5700 would be dynamite on 3s Li-Po's and has excellent programmability. 60+ should open a can of whoop-ass (can I say that?) on the Nitro boys.

XXXRustler 01.02.2007 09:28 PM

Ok

So if I get the mamba 5700 I should be good to go. Do they make the correct gearing for the xl-5 rustler? The guy at my lhs didn't think I could get that many different gear sets. Also since I'm fairly new to all this, will the mamba kit run off normal batts if need be instead of lipos all the time.

Thanks for the input guys

Procharged5.0 01.02.2007 09:32 PM

Yes, they run off Nicad's and NiMh as well. If you avoid lipo for now buy the IB or GP batteries in the highest capacity they offer (3700-4200 MAH). They should be assembled with battery bars in the side-by-side configuration with Deans connectors (or equivalent connector) for hi-amp capacity and low loss. 7 or 8 cell would be best but would still fall short of the 3s lipo.

Procharged5.0 01.02.2007 09:40 PM

regarding the gears, don't worry as much about the spur gear the traxxas offering will probably be ok.

The key is finding a good spur gear to work with your combo. Mike offers numerous options and since the 5700 use 3.2mm/1/8" shafts you should have many options even at you local hobby shop.

Visit Brian G's calculator for help with gear selection (others here will chime in too I'm sure.)

So far no lawers to soak up any money and yes 2 boys 5 and 7. They both love my truck and want thier own. We have already divided up proporty and time with the boys. Just waiting on the judge to sign the paperwork.
