If you bend it back go slow and easy. 6061 will be more forgiving than 7075.

Bomb-Proof 01.18.2007 03:34 PM

yep.

Mike.L 01.18.2007 10:40 PM

so your going to get the beefier x-braces?

BP-Revo 01.19.2007 01:19 AM

Most likely.

General public release is March 1st I think he said. I may get them a week or two early, but not really. I'll make sure to let you guys know what happens.

I think they will be something. Supposedly, he is to be making 3.3 gmaxx suspension too.

BP-Revo 01.19.2007 07:17 PM

He's also making a 3mm thick lower chassis place (to help with rigidity and strength). The stock is 2.5mm for reference.

He referred to it as "G3" so maybe he's actually making a G3/G3R kit?

anyway...he's going to replace my bent ones with the new stronger braces in a few weeks (he told me to email him then), then I'm going to spend the money (that was going to go to new braces) on thie thicker chassis plate. Then I should have a pretty sizeable increase in strength.

Bomb-Proof 01.20.2007 10:32 AM

you are not gunna tell any difference between 2.5mm and 3mm plates, only with a scale or micrometer. If 2.5 bends, the 3 will also.

GorillaMaxx360 01.20.2007 10:33 AM

it is just an added assurance i guess that is the reason for the upgrade in thickness. I dont think it is ment to give you a would or difference.

Sylvester 01.20.2007 11:04 AM

Imo i think George might make it more than 3, probably 3.4mm or more.

Bomb-Proof 01.20.2007 01:54 PM

I think its fine at 3mm, just dont crash into everything and it will last forever. I would never expect someone to pay for my own dumb crashes. And when I crash, its usually quite bad....but luckily rare.

BP-Revo 01.20.2007 04:22 PM

Yea...3mm should be plenty. I'm only getting it as a preventative measure to the new X-Braces bending.

I didn't have a "dumb crash" - All my spills were extremely light. Just a few over-jumps there (not really a crash), and few underjumps here - landed on wheels, so it should have been fine. The only time the truck had an incident was just flipping from cornering too fast or something. There was no "slam into the wall at the end of the straight" incidents.

Also, no one has ever bent both X-Braces. I've actually only ever heard of two X-Braces being damaged, each time just one broke. The first was because of an overtightened screw that contorted it. The second was someone ran it with one of the lower screws only 1/2 threaded in, and it got caught on something and bent it like that.

I've never actually heard of someone damaging one from a crash.
