I can't imagine beating Slayden anytime soon. I can hang with some good drivers when I am "in the zone", and when I do a lot of driving I can be pretty competitive, but I haven't had the time to a whole lot of racing lately. I only raced twice all last year(the Bash and RCCA Monster Madness). I got lucky and won both places(had a broken steering servo at RCCA, but managed to hold off the dogs long enough to get the win), but I did not drive as well as I used to when I raced twice a week. I am what I would call an "above average" racer - with lots of practice and track time I can hand with most, but in a group of pros, I would be out classed for sure. Like anything, practice makes perfect, and I just don't get the chance to practice much anymore. I win from consistency. There are guys with faster laps - I almost never crash or break(I know how to "build" and drive within my limits), so the longer the main, the better my chances of winning. :)
Slayden is a pretty damn good driver(and a heck of a nice guy), and his trucks are built for speed. Any volunteers to come help me out so I can get some driving time!? :)
