The heat sink should fit there no problem. I tried to keep it narrow to allow mountinng in smaller vehicles as well as larger ones (like touring cars). Judging by the pictures, it should fit no problem. I suppose we shall find out in a couple days!

I got the heatsink today. After I figure how I wanted to position it, I made my controller bracket. Since the heatsink fit so closely to the motor, I put some heatsink compound in the gap to increase heat transfer.

Nice Rob! I truly appreciate the custom work you put into this truck. I am somewhat of a tinkerer myself, so I love seeing other folks that take the hobby as serious as me! Great work! I especially like the heatsink! ;)

You managed to cancel the 18.97 i see?

BL_Force 05.15.2005 12:41 PM

Yeah, that is the other 9918 I had for my 1/8th buggy. My new one hasn't arrived yet.

Here's a couple of pics of my new body and the wheelie bar I made. It gets a lot of use!

I really love your design. Did it take long to make? Cost much? And does it hold up well?

BL_Force 09.04.2005 04:55 PM

Thanks. It took about a week of tinkering after work to come up with it. The cost wasn't that much. I think I may have $75 in it including all the twin force tranny parts, hardware, and aluminum stock I bought. So far I haven't broken a thing since I built it. Everything is holding up awesome. Only thing I have done is tighten up the drive cup set screws from time to time. All the torque they see tends to loosen them up even with loctite on them.

Thats a real nice rig you have there!!

What kind of speed is it going? How different are the ratios of the TF and the Emaxx?

BL_Force 09.04.2005 10:17 PM

I have no idea on the actual speed, but it seems to be as fast or faster than a stock savage 4.6. My overall gear ratio from the motor to the wheels is roughly 24:1.

BL_Force 09.06.2005 11:56 AM

What do you guys think about that gear ratio? Performance wise, when I peg it, the front goes skyward and the rear spins to the point that the tires balloon. It also seems to have no problem topping out. Do I need to possibly gear up some. I'm running a 10L/9918 on 14 cells. Keep in mind this truck is pretty heavy and it is a basher not designed for speed runs by any means. Could I possibly benefit by gearing up a bit?

Serum 09.06.2005 12:20 PM

No worries about that gearing ratio..

I did a 12 to 1 with a 2200 kv motor..
