High voltage outrunners would be awesome... but what about all the dirt and debris from the summer bashings?...
Big difference from when you're running 10, 15, 20, 25, 30C lipos.... but for higher voltage applications it's not as important I think.... but the guys with the air planes needs high weight:power ratio.... Just a thought...

Actually from what I gather, the fly boys pretty much know how many amps they're gonna be pulling. They don't pull the start up amperage that we do either. Their discharge rate tends to be pretty flat.

They size the motor for the RTR weight and then prop according to the amps the motor can do continously without over heating. From what I understand alot of the fly boys are running 10C and 15C cells.

The higher the "C" rating, the more the pack weighs for a given capacity. Of course us Monster Truck guys are going with the packs that will deliver the amps we need.

For example, a 10C 8000mah 7.4v pack weighs 12 ounces
a 15C 8000mah 7.4v pack weighs 14.5 ounces

I know it's not much, but I believe it's because there is more anode and cathode material to yield the higher discharge rate.

2.5oz heavier.. but 50% more power... :) .. that's a lot of juice... anyways.. it's nice to have the higher C batteries, just because it will put less stress on the batteries when we're drawing those crazy amps...
