Electric Eel 02.23.2008 02:00 PM

You will have the same problems. I bought one 2 weeks ago with version 3.14 firmware. That is the latest version and it has the problems.

david lamontagn 02.23.2008 03:03 PM

Only controller build after the february 18th have the new SW version.
I realy don't know what's the number of the new version but as soon as mine come back home, i'll let you know it, hope that MGM will change the little yellow tag with the version write on it:wink:

So for now, i run my thrusty, workhorse old mamba max:intello:

Even if the sticker is unchanged, the software should read the version number.

david lamontagn 02.23.2008 05:48 PM

Yep! You'are right, when i'll plug it on my PC, i'll see the version number:yes:

Man, you guys seem to email Grisha with ease. I never hear back. Only that one time when I found out about the upgrade. I'm emailing her, hopefully she'll get it and send the updated USBCOM+ with my controller.

Countryhick 02.27.2008 06:15 PM

Anyone got their controls back from MGM yet?
I'm sure there are a heap of people waiting to see if the software fixes the issues.

fkadir 02.27.2008 10:08 PM

Nothing heard from MGM about my controller yet. Hope it just doesnt dissapear into a black hole..

david lamontagn 02.29.2008 08:50 AM

Look at the mail i've recieve this morning:party:

Dear David,

we received it. We will send you things back to you on Monday.

Best regards,
Grisa
2/3 of the job was did, hope that thing will come back home in great shape!

Countryhick 02.29.2008 08:00 PM

I sent mine yesterday.
David, What sort of mail did you use?

david lamontagn 02.29.2008 09:21 PM

I use standard mail, little package by air, it cost me $14.82CAD to send it.

Hey, the Czech republic is near Australia i think??? No??

fkadir 02.29.2008 10:07 PM

David, its near to Austria... not Australia :) I made that mistake once or twice too!

Electric Eel 03.01.2008 12:05 PM

Well i just learned that the post office has lost my 22418 on its way to the czech republic. Since i had a value of less than $15 - i am out a $400 esc. Sucks! from now on castle usa esc only!

What is the reason to put "value of less than $15" on the package, is this to save a few bucks on shipping?

david lamontagn 03.01.2008 12:17 PM

:surprised:No!!!!!!!!!!!! f..k man, that's to bad:oh:
Mine goes to MGM office without any problems but i hope that he come back to me without problems too:whistle:

Good luck man...

No, if we put the real value, the package could be stick to the border for over a month... That's what Grisa, at MGM tell to us.
This is true or false?????, i don't know it, but all of us want to recieve the controler in a short laps of time, but Electric Eel have not be lucky at all.

Hope that any aothers guys will have this kind of problems.

Hey Electric Eel, how have you learn that the post office has lost your controller????? You've call them to know where your controller was or you've send an email to MGM to know if he have recieve it???

Electric Eel 03.01.2008 02:52 PM

Both, David. I have a relative in the post office who checked for me. I had her check after it didn't show up at mgm. its sad really, people with no insiders in the post office would never know that they lost track of the package. The box would just disappear with no way to find it without insurance. My fault really-i felt bad about the declared value but wanted it back quick. You can't really win either way-stay inside your country for service. hurry up monster max!!!

Topas 03.01.2008 03:10 PM

I am from germany and will receive my order (esc) directly from the manufacturer next week. The 3.20 is the latest available version. I will tell you as soon as possible if the problems are fixed.

Important hint :
For further firmware updates you need the following cable :

That really stinks man. Insurance is cheap. Sometimes I put a crazy insurance amount just in case the post office loses any of my things. Then they can learn a lesson. You should've added a $600 insurance on the controller and if they lost it, it would pay for the controller and headaches LOL. It may sound messed up, but they should not lose anything in the first place.

CC_03:oh::oh::oh::oh:Why?????????????? I've the CC_02, it's supose to be the same thing???

Hey look closely, it's to connect charger on the USBCOM+, not the controller!!!!!!!!!!

wallot 03.01.2008 04:10 PM

non EMS package stays at customs usually a week, EMS that is quite cheap from US leaves customs usually within couple hours. EMS cost just about 10$ over standard priority mail and gets here in 5-7 days. priority mail can take ages.

it's not about a value of the shipment but what is written on the package. if you put there something like - toy car part for repair they will leave it alone (especially when most of the custom officers hardly know any english :) )

if package does not have an invoice attached to it and is shipped from a private address customs leave it alone.

I order stuff from US more than regularly and never had an issue with EMS but with Priority mail plenty (one got here after 40 days, couple were returned to sender withouit any reason)

Since about a half year ago I use only EMS. i even use forwarding service for stores that dont offer EMS (like tower) that consolides my packages and sends them via EMS

I even used EMS to send my first dead quark to US to be sure (tho our EMS is more expensive - like $50 the lowest rate)

Because the CC_02 will not work. Only the CC_03 will be used to update the firmware !

wallot 03.01.2008 05:26 PM

you can update firmware using usbcom??????

Are you sure? Where did you here this?

david lamontagn 03.01.2008 07:38 PM

A cable is a cable:whistle:
If it's just the pinout that's different, i'll just change my pinout on my CC_02:intello:

david lamontagn 03.01.2008 08:07 PM

OK, just too bad..... i just take a close look at my CC_02 cable and the new CC_03 cable, and the difference is at the plug. The CC_02 have a white plug at one end and a stadard servo plug at other end. the C_03 cable have a speciale white plug at both end:oops:

On the USBCOM+, they have two place to plug the cable, one with 3 long cooper wires, and another with a special plug like on the controller end.

So MGM have make the new version to work with this special cable............................................. .................................................. .............................................You know wath????????

I realy like Castle Creation:whistle:

Countryhick 03.01.2008 09:27 PM

I have emailed Grisa @ MGM to find out for sure if we will need the new CC_03 cable to update the 3.20 version speed controls. I will post his response as soon as he replies.

david lamontagn 03.01.2008 09:37 PM

Very good, thank you!

Topas 03.02.2008 04:32 AM

You donīt have to wait for the reply. My information is correct and you will need the new cable. That is the reason why I post this information here in the forum. It will be easy for you to order this cable so they can send you the updated esc AND the cable...

Countryhick 03.03.2008 07:42 AM

Here is what Grisa from MGM had to say about the CC_03 cable.

"programming is make always via CC_02 cable. Only for update SW is necessary CC_03 cable.

Best regards,
Grisa"

Topas you are indeed correct.

david lamontagn 03.03.2008 09:08 AM

Is somebody could tell me what's SW want mean??

jacobsjo87 03.03.2008 10:50 AM

SW= Software

david lamontagn 03.03.2008 11:46 AM

:whistle::oops::lol:
As i've ever said, my english is poooooooooooooooooor:eyes:

Thank you!:mdr:

Topas 03.05.2008 02:32 PM

Today I received my mgm 22418 car esc. (I bought a new one) This one was shipped with sw V 3.21 .

Due to bad weather conditions I could try it in my new emaxx (motor : kontronik fun 600-25) for only 20 minutes or so. (at 16,8 V)

At first I had some problems in setting up the esc (setting max. break and max throttle + I didnīt know if I should enable freewheel).
Furthermore I noticed some breaking problems with the default car setting. I drove the emaxx with medium speed and tried to stop (max break) but the car increased the speed and was stopped by the front wheel of my car ...! After changing the deceleration value to very hard1 2,3s the problem was gone.

I have to install my eagletree logger to support my feeling that the motor runs hotter on the mgm as on the kontronik jazz 80 but there was no cogging and the motor ran very smooth.

jacobsjo87 03.05.2008 04:03 PM

So the SW problem is fixed??

I might be having a simular issue with my MGM 16024. It goes forward, but when I hit the brake it still goes forward and then it brakes. If I continue to hold the brake the car would continue to go forward. Is this the problem you had?

Topas 03.05.2008 05:11 PM

Yes - this is the problem I had !

I had same issue, but only with the align 600xl motor and with light brakes, in medium works ok :)

TBH that is the only setting that I'm still having trouble understanding. How hard is you brakes now? Did you set the hardness of the brake separate from the deceleration? I'll try what you did, but I'm lost on that setting and I thought I had the programming done right.

This is the way I cured the problem too. (I set the brake to very hard1)

I will inform mgm about that issue - I am sure they will fix it fast !
