Good luck on the smoking ban dickyt. I quit 4 years ago this month and it was the hardest but best thing I ever did. I had smoked for over 12 years. Regaining your sense of smell is a wondrous thing. The main thing I had to get through my mind is that there is no reason to start smoking again and no such thing as just one or one last cigarette. It's hell for the first two weeks, a little better the next two, then it gets easier and easier every week after.

This is an interesting theory, I currently have about 10 working rcs and 30 or so projects. Some are rollers, some are boxes of parts, some are stock waiting to be welded up, and others are just ideas! I am on a 10th scale kick right now, so I will get 5 or 6 of them running and clean, then go back to finishing my MT selection. If I could spend 2-3 hours a day working on them, I could most likely finish it all in 6 months. Sadly I may get 8-10 hours a week, so it will take much longer! And I keep buying stuff...

I wish I could be more organized like you guys, my life is chaos, but that is ok for me!

Or did you already use that for the 3rd vehicle?

I'm not a very good person.

Most people smoke a pack a day, so say 7-8packs a week. 3 bucks a pack makes about 25 bucks a week. So a year would be 1300 bucks. A fair chunk of change.

You can send some this way. I'll build them drive them and break the for you then fix them and return as working. I could pull the "Honey, but they are not mine!"

thanks for the quitting smoking support guys. I have tried several times before with no luck, this time is different, i will not let myself have one. I will go curl up in a corner with the detox tremors for hours and just take it (nightly experience for the past 2 weeks)

TexasSP you are right, there is no last cigarette. and I will show my geekdom and quote my favorite movie character now. "Do or do not... there is no try."

I am choosing "Do" this time. Maybe no rc's this weekend is a good thing, I tend to smoke when I bash. lol.

Thanks for letting me slip though the cracks Castle! you may have just aided my efforts, but please, oh please do not do it again! A working MMM here by next weekend would be nice ;) I can only handle so much RC withdrawal along with nicotine withdrawal.

And Castle are saying that if it is going to die it will be within 10 minutes, makes you wonder if all of them are going to go eventually :oh:

TexasSP 05.16.2008 10:38 PM

Mine took about 8 minutes to go, so I think it varies.

JerryF504 05.16.2008 10:43 PM

I only got about 5 mins. of fun out of mine.

10 push ups everytime you have a craving...you must be on the ground a lot...

e-mike 05.21.2008 09:45 PM

how much minute your run before he die????

killjoyken 05.21.2008 11:01 PM

I ran my 13lb, 8XL/4s/Monster powered Savage this weekend and went through 2 4900mah packs of very hard bashing with no problems (knocks on wood). So far, so good!

bdebde 05.22.2008 12:28 AM

Another one bites the dust

I got my 5 minutes of thrills out of my Monster today. It just quit working like most of the rest. It is super smooth, no cogging, and I can even start out at a crawl, unlike my MGM that just seems to launch right up speed. Best thing is, my truck now (or did while it lasted) has reliable reverse, unlike the MGM, which I finally had to disable reverse on. Darn, now I have to wait on the mail again.

jayjay283 05.22.2008 01:33 AM

Mine Monster died after 12 minutes of driving. It was so nice and smooth, 1515/1y 3s maxamps 5000 x2, stopped for 30 seconds to check temps and before I got the IR gun out *poof* smoked. Unplugged the lipo quickly and sent it in last Friday.. Got a call today from Castle that they cant fix it, it wont pass the test to be returned to me, and they dont have any to send to me. They will apparently be making another batch in the middle of June and I will be sent one from that batch when they are completed. I always get the short straw lol c'est la vie, was fun while it lasted

That sucks, but you are a cretinous noob, so what do you expect? At least you caught it before it cooked anything else.

Linc,

You never fail to crack me up. I'm interested to see what happens with the next batch, and still glad I waited :).

So many of us were begging to beta-test the MMM. So many were turned down. It appears we could have saved CC a ton of money and trouble. Maybe next time.

RBMike 05.22.2008 09:52 AM

Mine died Sunday after about 80 too 90 minutes of run time. It gitched a couple of times & then just stopped. It was not hot at all. My set-up is Nue1512 3D, 6S A123's & 14/46 gearing in a buggy. Sent it in on Monday morning. Hope it's fixable.

tc3_racer_001 05.22.2008 06:07 PM

jeez, if i were them, ad swap suppliers, and heck, why not sue them :D

TexasSP 05.22.2008 06:11 PM

I just got the same call from Chris that said mid June and mine was not fixable. I don't really understand why, as mine did not have a catastrophic melt down, it just quit working. I sent a note to Joe and am awaiting an answer.

A month is kind of a long time IMO for them to hang on to $170 , Joe should send us a Hydra 240HV to play with while we wait :sarcastic: or at least a Mamba :intello:

I got the same call yesterday and sent an email to Joe last night, but he hasn't replied yet. They said it wouldn't pass the test so they were going to scrap it. I'm sooo bummed.

macr0w 05.22.2008 09:20 PM

Yeah, I got the call today as well. The girl said it could not be repaired.

I could have told her that. You could take one look at mine and guess it was not going to be repaired.

It was a melted blob of plastic and some loose wires in the box.

I'm thinking about buying another one before mine gets back. :mdr:

Is that a dumb idea? Maybe it'll last a few rounds like the last one. :sarcastic:

e-mike 05.22.2008 09:28 PM

now its time for me to have some problem:mdr:...symptom...the esc cut and the light of my receiver blink(spektrum)i turn the mmm off and when i turn on it work like new

i run my my today with a 8000mah maxamp today and no issue at all

later i run with 4000mah hecell 25c for the first time and ive got this probleme

tomorow i will re-test with the 8000mah maxamp:yes:

my set up...4 cell lipo
feigao 9l
mmm

lincpimp 05.22.2008 09:29 PM

Any reasons why they cannot be repaired? Are the boards crapping out, or just a bunch of components that are not worth replacing?

e-mike 05.22.2008 10:38 PM

wtf..im tired my mmm cut constantly (when i run about 5 min)just give a small blow on it and he reset ,then he run without issue for 5 min more :party:i think im on the borderline before the death of my mmm:yipi:

i buy it from mike...should i could ship directly to cc or mike???or really wait for the complete death of the esc???

and what is the adress of cc..

All she would say is that it couldn't pass the test so they were going to scrap it and I would get a replacement mid-June. I'm hoping Joe will be able to shed some light as to what the problem actually is. Mine was not melted like some of the others so I thought it was going to be a fairly simple fix.

You need to send it to CC... info on their website: www.castlecreations.com

TexasSP 05.22.2008 11:55 PM

Here is the edited email I received from Joe tonight around 8 pm. I edited because the other part is not needed to get the point across. Pretty cool of him to respond at 8 pm in my opinion. I feel better and worse, but I am not mad, I know they want it working right. I also can appreciate the stress this is causing the team at CC as well. I think we all need to remember that while it is okay to be critical, we must remain tactful in our approach in dealing with this.

Quote:

We are just on hold right now
while the engineers test to see what the issue is...we don't want to
send out any more controllers where customers can possibly have this
issue. I hope you understand. We worked for a LONG time to get this
right, it performs PERFECTLY in final testing, and then some weird thing
like this happens that we just can't/won't accept as acceptable. We
strive to keep our word that our stuff is the best bang for the buck,
and we're not going to let you guys down. We've been testing for a few
days now and purposely blowing up controllers and inspecting those sent
in to see where the problem lies. Once we get a handle on things, rest
assured we'll take care of you.

CC what was wrong with FM-type caps?

Nothing wrong with the Rubycons, couldn't get FMs. Remember WE ARE NOT BUYING CAPS in Asia.... so no possibility of getting "seconds" or phonies or manufacturer rejects like there is with Chinese manufacturers.

BEC doesn't look right eh? In what way?

Understand that I've been doing this for 22 years... it's not like this was designed by an amateur...

e-mike 05.23.2008 06:57 PM

just a question....i dont want to be off topic but today i run really hard my maxx(for a final test before sending to cc) with my mmm and a 8000mah maxamp 20 c(yesterday i run a 4000mah 25c hecell) and my esc work without issue not''cutting'' and it did the job flawlessly:yipi:could it be my 4000mah pack was the problem...with the 8000 no issue but the 4000mah after 5 or 10 min the esc stop and restart few second later or no choise to reset with the switch?????

anyway im gonna do some other test ,,,,just to be sure..for now with a 8000mah.my mmm feel good!!:mdr:

Five-oh-joe 05.23.2008 07:47 PM

Maybe the MMM was hitting cutoff with the 4000mah pack and it went into a "safe mode"? Just a possible idea.
